Manifold collections of wheels, and gears, springs and coils, all bound by the inexoriable tread of time.
The Snads of Time are a diminutive race, each a sprite like creature composed of clock parts, and small bits of spare metal and crystal. They are rare, as only the most advanced of chronomancers, or time mages develop the skill required to manufacture a Snad as a familiar.
The basic Snad is a conglomeration of parts, drawn together in a haphazard fashion by loops of temporal magic, and thus more resemble an animated pile of metal rubbish rather than a metal golem, or clockwork robot. I use the term basic, as each Snad is unique. The basic Snad stands just under a foot tall, and has one to six crystal lenses as eyes. They move by a means of insectile locomotion, having a variable number of legs, with twelve being the most common.
Snads are very sensitive to temporal magics, and can sense when time spells have been used. Some sufficiently developed snads can actually determine where time magic will be used in the future.
If left alone, snads will congregate in areas of high temporal magic, or in places that have become 'forgotten' giving rise to the term 'Lost to the snads of time'
Magical Properties:
Snads are immune to temporal magic, and can effect any basic time spell on themselves, or extend their anti-time magic defence to their wizard as a basic familiar ability.

Hmmn Interesting,
i think it would be neat to expand on them a bit, and maybe allow them to reconfigure themselves into a variety of useful things. Moreso I would have it so that they are just minor spirits who occupy a collection of 'junk' of some size, etc.
They are only interested in 'neat' little pieces of metal and crystals ets. Pieces of glasses, jewelry, very small tools, shavings, springs, keys, small gears etc. These parts aren't really tehm persay, but they are the physical form they acquire, each Snad is different becasue they find different parts. The best Snads are probably found lurking about inventors shops tot he great dismay of the inventor as all of his small bits and doohickies of especial import are gone. The snad probably disposes and picks up new parts as they go, depending what they think is neat or attractive in thier twisted minds.
Lthough they are capable of movement, I think most of the time, they would just liek to find a nice bowl or jar and rest as a pile of parts.
Not sure if you like that contribution, but I think it'd be neat.
As a side, note, I would prolly ditch the temporal magic, thing, but yeah that is me, doesn't fit well into my campaign, but I still like it, but you gave me a pretty good idea!
Well, I was reading another post somewhere and the poster mispelled sands of time in several differnt places as snads of time and I had this goofy idea, just what does a snad look like. If I have given you an idea with my post, I am greatly pleased.
Heheh, well maybe I will call my 'things' Snads of Item...
Interesting...
I like the idea, though I'm not sure why the Snads are items and not characters. The idea of clockwork spirits controlling time is a cool one.
It says I already voted, but if I could vote, it would be...
4/5.
If there was a critters category, I would place the snads there without a second thought. I placed them in items, rather than characters as they dont have the depth, or motivation to be a character. They felt like a fun idea, and as for the voting, the site says I have already voted for them also.
If I could vote it would be 5/5, and I intend to vote as soon as the voting system has been fixed. The snads are so.....sweet.
'GURPS - creatures of the night' had a similar idea, but the gear heaps were animated through soaking in the blood of innocents (yum!) and had a clock counting the time until the death of a being nearby...
the Snads are much more savoury and usable though. And a funny name to boot :D 5/5.
At last I can vote on this.
Arisen from a typo, but a cool thing noless.
I saw the name and thought it was hilarious and their description makes them fit well. It's cute, but I wish they had some sort of function that would make them usable or interactive with players. As of now in my mind they are not useful and they're not combative so I don't know what could be done with them to fit them into a game.
