Feather-Dusters of Dra'Solme Tsolyul

Unusual weapons.

125 xp 2,586 views

These archaic weapons were once wielded by the Jewel-Eyed Princess, Dra'Solme Tsolyul of the Thousand Thrones Imperium, during her younger days, as she roamed the Nineteen Continents of Zinis-Ar, making her name. Many centuries have since passed, and now Dra'Solme Tsolyul lies forever dreaming upon her azure-blue stone catafalque, inside the Tsolyul mausoleum, which floats amidst the bilious yellow clouds above B'eol, the Imperium's capital city. Now lost, the Jeweled-Eye Princess' favored weapons resembled twin silver-iron rods or scepters, each three feet in length, three-quarters covered by bursts of gray-white and ice-blue 'feathers'. These feathers once belonged to a fantastic reptilian, bird-like creature called a Shamargyun, which is now extinct.

It is written that the Princess won the creature's feathers by engaging it in a contest of wit and esoteric philosophy. Losing the game of knowledge, the humbled creature willingly shed its weirdly scaled feathers and gifted them to the future heir of the Thousand Thrones. It then flew off to die in shame, as was its nature.

Using magic now long forgotten, Vol-Sheb, the princess' erstwhile companion and a sorcerer in his own right, magicked the feathers onto the princess' twin silver rods, and so the Featherdusters were created.

The powers of the Featherdusters are three-fold.

With the first command word, 'Sabon-Sah', spoken, someone wielding the Featherdusters can release the feathers from the rods, at which point the feathers will fly unerringly toward their foe. The feathers will get inside eyes, noses, ears, and mouths, bewildering and staggering an adversary, or in some rare cases even causing hypoxia, if enough feathers fill up the lungs, allowing the wielder of the rods to close in and hammer away.

If the second command word, 'Sabon-Ahul', is spoken, the feathers will immediately return and re-attach to the rods in quick succession.

If the third command word, 'Vla-shah-Khas' is spoken, the feathers on the rods will instead harden, turning into razor-sharp jagged scales with the inflexibility of worked steel. Horrific damage can be doled out by the rods in this case, tearing and shredding any flesh presented, and ripping through armor and the thickest of hides.

It is whispered though unconfirmed that an assassin by the name of Dreamloss, once stole the deadly feather dusters of Dra'Solme Tsolyul, and used them to devastating effect upon his many marks. But Dreamloss had crossed one wizard too many, and now sleeps in suspended animation, within the inescapable confines of the Vats of Vu, sans the Featherdusters, which are now lost.

Note, oh heroes who seek such ancient weapons amidst the impermeable jungles and sooty tombs of the Imperium...the feathers cannot both fly and be hardened at the same time.

I see that the pic is taken from some Chinese kung-fu movie and actually this reminds me of that video game on PS2 where you can choose from a bunch of characters based from the period of the Three Kingdoms in China and in it there's a guy that uses 2 sticks as his weapon, sans the feathers of course (don't know the actual name of the game but the character you control can Mosou periodically which is charged up by doing combo moves and then you Mosou which releases a big attack thingy)

I read this and I thought I commented and voted on it.

Interesting, battle feather dusters. This goes up there with that submission about the giant combat scissors, the War Forcibi I think.
