Bronze Visions
A bronze bowl with warrior carvings around the outside of it. When used correctly it will allow the wielder's spirit to venture out of thier body and go where it wishes.
A bronze bowl about a foot and a half tall and a half foot wide. On opposite sides of the lip of the bowl is a brass, square looped handle. Carvings of men carrying spears circle the outside of the bowl.
To use the bowl, it must be filled up with water to the exact edge of the crease of the lip. Then wielder must then rub the metal handles with the palms of his hands creating waves and ripples that, if done correctly, turn into water spouts that can bounce out of the bowl up to three feet high. Once this is attained viewing the pattern of the water spouts draws the person's spirit out of thier body.
The spirit is able to return to the body as long as there is any moisture left in the bronze bowl. If the bowl is emptied and completely dried out the spirit is trapped until it is once again moistened.
Magical Properties:
Once the user's spirit is freed it is able to move at will where ever it wants. The spirit can slip under doors and travel as fast as a soaring eagle. The spirit has no physical traits and is invisible to all normal vision.

Not really intended for character uses I don't think. More for something they come across. Perhaps see it being used by a holy man in some ritual. Then later that man comes to them with intimate knowledge of something they have done. Bribe them? Warn them?
Could be useful if the players need to contact someone on the spiritual plane or some spiritual figure far away from them. Might also be useful to fake a death. Noble or other target could use the bowl, then observe the party presenting his lifeless body to the person who hired the assassin (possibly the party themselves!). After seeing the proof themselves, even the most doubting of persons would know who wanted them dead.
What happens to the body that has it's spirit departed?
- Does it fade to a lifeless sack of bones?
- Does it keep breathing and show signs of physical life, but without a spirit to 'light' the inner fire?
- Can the spirit still 'reach' the body if the body is dragged away from the bowl?
- What if the spirit 'meets' another spirit and the spirit is killed?
hmmmm so many questions and so little time to answer them....
So many questions left that I have a very hard time thinking of a vote for this item.
wow, a sensible, well-written, and pertinent comment by the Barbarian Horde! How rare and appreciated! :)
The bowl is quirky. I like it, because i like rituals of all kinds, and the paraphernalia involved.
This is a solid idea, and a fun idea to work with, coming across empty jars or seeing unresponsive people gathered around evaporating water dishes.
although the imagery of a man briskly rubbing a flask/jar with his hands causing it to shoot spouts into the air that then transport that person out of their body....it just made me feel unclean. Maybe that is just me
Then this will make you feel super dirty! Based on these as you can obviously see.

See, I knew i was taking something clean and ruining it. That link makes it seem much nicer.
This one made me think and wonder about the holes left open.
Sometimes, you want something more, other times, the spark is all that is needed.
Kinda cool, and some nice imagery with the waves of water. Probably best as a 'single, quest use' kind of item before it accidentally gets broken by the GM's will.
