Full Item Description
In appearance it's just a regular bag with the exception of the ornately woven ribbon used to tie it closed. It's what this bag does other then hold things that makes it such a valued item though.

History
Magic users since time immemorial have used their powers to see places they couldn't readily see. Often these spells make use of common things such as mirrors or other reflective surfaces. Just as often, this allows other magic users to see what one is looking at, spying on the scrying.

This bag was made by a mage who saw it a waste of room to have an extra item for scrying and didn't want others to see what he was seeing.

Magic/Cursed Properties
When the user holds the bag closed with both hands and speaks the name of the place or person he or she wishes to see and then opens the bag, a scrying spell will be cast along with an illusionary spell so that when the user opens the bag, there appears to be a flat surface which shows them the target which they designated by speaking it's name or description. As long as the description is one that could be easily understood, the bag will work.

If the bag gets any holes in it, it stops working.

Sorry, new poster here. :P I added this bit in as a comment, but it works better as a new idea. So I will repost it here, hope you enjoy it.

'In a game I had run for my home group, I also created an item called a Bag of Beholding. Instead of it being used for a scrying spell, it was actually a specially enchanted Spectator beholderkin that had been turned inside out to form an especially leathery Bag of Holding. It was special in that if the Bag of Beholding was turned inside out, it would revert to beholderkin form, and would make an ally for the party. Especially useful in that items placed inside the Bag of Beholding weren't expelled when it was turned inside out; instead the Spectator could retrieve these items at-will for the players, and could add new items into it's bag space by seemingly eating them.

However, my players never got that far, they suspected it was dangerous, and turned it over to a rival team of adventurers. When they heard the exploits of this other team, and their new Bag of Beholding, they launched a crusade to slaughter the other team and take back the Bag.

Needless to say, they were quite evil.'

Hall of Honour

for Bag of beholding

The Hall of Honour is your mark on a submission you believe is frick’n awesome — so good you would jump in front of a dragon’s breath to protect the scroll it is written on.

Bestowing HoH also highlights it on the front of the Citadel for about a day, so others see the recognition it earned.

You may bestow HoH on the same submission up to your level (with a short wait between strikes). Five distinct HoH voters raise a work to Golden.

I cant help but think of a dirty old sack-mage opening his bag, looking in and chuckling for no apparent reason.

I like it, though brief as well.

I second Scras's thought. "That is just old man McGregor. He just sits in the corner looking into his sack. He found it about two years ago...about the same time he started going a little crazy with his giggle fits."

    Great mental picture!

Yes that is an interesting image. This sub is a little short, but it is actually a nifty idea.
