I don't even see the need to comment on this kind of submission.

Makes me understand more and more why there was an approval process on other sites. (which I don't like still and would never go to)

Stuff like this has made me think more and more and brought me back around to the Flesh it Out forum which was originally going to be used as a dumping ground for crappy posts. I like where that one went and don't want to pollute it with this crap.

If I didn't think in a month that I would have the other site up and running with the seperate reject database then I would open another forum to immediately throw ANYTHING that wasn't up to par with our expectations. Then it would still be visible and commentable by all and if they improve it, great, put it back on the main site, if not it wasn't sitting there being annoying.

I don't mind 1 star submissions, as long as there is a gem of an idea in there. The problem I have is with wastes that have been popping up lately.

LEON sucks, and I deleted it. If he can't tell why it is no longer there then he has more issues then we can help him with.

Ok. I looked and saw the comments, so he had some time, and I think I saw him on the site and nothing had been improved, so, oh well. It's one thing to have modern submissions and another entirely to post yourself as a submission.

Maybe with the new site we could have some kind of hall of fame for submissions that were highly rated, veiwed often and met some kind of approval requirements. Just an idea...

And the Biohazzard section, for the public called improvement-needed database or simply reject-database. I already look forward for a link or button titled Decontaminate.

    Decontamination button.

That is uncomfortably amusing isn't it...
  6. can't breath...

Laughing too hard. Wife looking at me funny. Gasp. Dog looking at me funny. Trying to breath......

    Okay. Yah. What he said.

Perhaps we can have the system auto flush things that don't get one star after 30 days or something. And admins can flush with a button...

Had to split it. Leon was getting way too many hits :)

    F....l.....u.....s.......h..............

30 days is interesting. Should we have such high expectations to automatically dump one stars though.....ok, yes. That would be the point of voting, to get rid of the junk....although most junk doesn't really require voting.

Although that reminds me of another feature. NO VOTING ON YOUR OWN POST!! A good feature? Saves from jacking up your own submissions.

I think it would do certainly no harm! There is no sense in voting for yourself unless you
    a) want a better rating or
    b) want a worse rating (but why would anyone want...)

But if you can't vote for yourself, can anonyms (=yourself again) vote for you? If we don't want people to do this, I guess this option should be removed too... and I am not sure if it is right.

Those that want better ratings can do it anyway, create a new pseudo-member and there you go. I am afraid we cannot ban this completely, even if we wanted... unless we admins do all the rating, which is nonsense of a different kind.

And some of those members that post crap, sadly can find appreciation for the crap of others. What is bad, will be flushed out anyway. We will take care of this.

Just a small thing to keep the honest people honest. Can only do so much.....although I can track IP addresses and compare IPs to the original poster.....that would solve all of that.....unless it is on a school IP and then the entire school can only vote once....a positive and negative to everything.

(sorry I can't chat. Shouldn't have been here this long as it is ;) )

    Heeey...

...not sure if the Citadel-engine remembers who voted for what, but...

...but if someone votes for himself, THAT could be rememered! Simply display for him/her somewhere a neat message along the lines of you vote for yourself? Man, what a sad life you must have, etc.

(Now I hope I never voted for myself. Hmmm... I think not... but am not sure... )

Even if you haven't, I know I have. But only after someone else voted first.

It currently only adds up the votes, doesn't track who does what except for the 24 hour script...which...come to think of it tracks IPs only to make sure you only vote once a day.

Instead of letting the vote count simply say "You loser. What!? Nobody else voting for you? Do you have such a pathetic life that you have to vote for your own lousy submissions?"

    Or maybe something harsher.

I am certain I have voted for my stuff too. Everything I know I did once because I went through and reread everything I had and gave it what it deserved. Ya know, all five stars of course. ;)

I am pretty fine with the way it is. The not voting on yourself is somewhat logical and probably won't hurt anything. Just can't vote for it while logged in really.

Thought about it while looking at some of the newer characters....
