So, this is going to be the color commentary and Q&A for The Silk Road game.

Couple of things, this is going to be super casual, I want to play as my schedule permits.

We're playing kinda fast and loose here, so there aren't going to be rolling dice for many things, so creative license is available.

Also, not writing the next great fantasy novel, so I'm not going to post chapters of stuff, and I don't expect anyone else to either.

We're opening at a nameless bar, on the banks of the Nile River, and this is a place where people who want something come. I'll leave it up to you to figure out what brought you into that cantina

Aaaaaanyways: Blue might either be meeting there with a fixer regarding work or sale of some prize loot, or shopping for cool stuff:
    > next-gen psychopharmaka that help deal with the crazies without making your brain feel like a ball of cotton
    > top secret corp info
    > weapons and explosives

I really like him meeting his fixer for psychopharma

I think Hollen's prize is close to the Cosmic Era for tech level and the like.

    Val, you want to drive?
Or is the Valkyrie coming with us?

The vehicle belongs to the Valkyrie, and she might not take too kindly to being left behind

    What now? :)

What's the lay of the land? Blue's armed with a sniper rifle, but I'm not sure whether the Thrill Killers will be obscured by terrain until they are in machine gun range anyway. If the land's open enough, I could start taking pot shots before they arrive in machine gun range.

Sorry about the delay, brain fart

The Thrill Killers and simply following the turbo tank up the way it came. They are on the same level as the party, and are not on the high ground. Jerome can see through his drone that they are not overly concerned and are advancing in a casual fashion. This would make sense since they know exactly where the tank is, and that it has stopped moving. They will be in range in approximately 10 minutes, as the tank was quite a bit faster than walking horses.

If you folks need a third, Obutsu could find his way to Egypt.

I'm OK with that. Val, Scras?

I know we’re rules light here, but here’s a rough idea of Obutsu’s equipment. Cut whatever doesn’t work.

    Weapons & armor
    VD 10-60 assault weapon
    BL.23 mag pistol
    Monofilament katana
    Standard light armor

    Cybernetic enhancements
Synthetic arm, Right (high density synthetic bone and muscle)
    Bone lacing
    Targeting cybereyes

We may be rules-light, but a description of the equipment is a good idea, as it highlights the narrative routes a character may take.

So, Blue (Tel'Issaire Witherwind) carries the following noteworthy equipment:

*Helios PSG82 laser sniper rifle: accurate, adjustable capacitor charging, high power, hampered by aerosols and chaff
*Glock .45 semi-automatic pistol, high stopping power, low anti-armour efficiency
    *Plastic explosive, remote detonators
    *A few grenades
*High-end wrist computer with some useful software
*Anti-glare night vision goggles with customisable HUD

There's some bio-mods ordered by Blue's original owner that are worthy of note:
*Boosted immune system (if medical nanobots are in the setting, then those too)
    *Boosted liver
    *Improved wound healing
*Genetic cleansing (various recessive disease genes removed, overall selection of favourable polymorphisms that reduce disease susceptibility)
*No bone decalcification, eye degeneration, or muscle loss in zero-G.
    *Flexible joints
    *Reproductive control
    *and various cosmetic modifications

  26. Re: The Silk Road OOC Chat

    #26
Well then, as said, I am not saying yes unless I hear a yes. Or unless Obutsu convinces Blue otherwise. Please *do* engage with what my character says, I heard that is the point of RP.
(also, Blue is the one renting the tank, so it makes sense also in-game, yes?)
  27. Re: The Silk Road OOC Chat

    #27
I was operating under the assumption that Blue was joking with off-color banter, not demanding Obutsu whore himself out as a servant. But if that's the route you want to go...
  28. Re: The Silk Road OOC Chat

    #28
(please consider this an attempt at humour, and at portraying Blue accurately)
Whoring? A servant? :D All Blue wants is one (1) backrub (standard issue, no happy ending), for a ride in the middle of the desert, and for the assistance of three armed mercenaries and a tank. That's a deal as good as they come! Blue didn't even ask for gas, grass, or ass. Generous, even miraculous, the pinnacle of human virtue, rare these days.
Why, if Blue gives it any more thought, then the conclusion will be that Joao should feel honored to be given the opportunity to give Blue a backrub, and anyway should have offered one on his own initiative. Blue may be no lady, but on occasion likes to pretend that that is the case.
(I'd prefer the exchange to be friendly and humorous, but we *do* have a psychiatric patient on hand)

Quoting from the Cosmic Era Firearms sub:
    3. Vasquez-Drake 10-60 Squad Assault Weapon

A heavy weapon, the VD 10-60 is commonly used in anti-battle suit operations and by special forces in the United States of South America. The gun was modeled off of contemporary weapons from America and then upgraded to handle the newest generation of caseless ammunition. The weapon was originally intended to be mounted on vehicles and on top of tanks, but the emergence of the supersoldier, light power armor, and cyborg augmentation, this heavy weapon made the transition from vehicle support to squad support. The gun fires a heavy 'long cartridge' 10mm round and can handle explosive, armor piercing, and incendiary rounds. The gun has a distinctive sound when fired and with it's SmartGun functionality can be very computer friendly.

I didn't specify before, but what kind of ammo can Obutsu be packing? A little from each column?
  37. Re: The Silk Road OOC Chat

    #37
Echoing Dozus' question - what kind of ammo does the tank's machine gun have? I figure that blasting conventional rounds at it is pretty futile.
The rifle may not do me a whole lot of good, either.
So, if there's no good ammo in the MG, my best guess would be to give it a good TK shove?
  38. Re: The Silk Road OOC Chat

    #38
The turbo tank has a 20mm cannon with standard explosive rounds

DM Suggestion: called shots, and aimed shots.

I like the idea of going TK, and would suggest exploiting the surrounding terrain. You and the monster are in the midst of rusted metal hulks and wreckage from massive construction projects two centuries past. Lots of jagged metal, beams, etc
