Counting the posts and stats
#1Hmmm,
I was wondering *ponder*.... Did I not read a while ago that any post in the Cavern of insane chatter and the Citadel Tavern did not count towards your HP, MP and EXP??
Just a moment ago, I did feel that I was sort of busy and so I did check my exp and level just before I posted a new message in the Cavern.... to my surprise, my exp dropped to zero (or one) and my level seems to have increased.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind leveling.... (Is that not what we all crave for? becoming as powerfull as the ancient dragons? and biting them in the tale and surviving?)
But I do question myself now, did I read the posts wrong a long time ago, or is it simply that the post only exists in my mind, or is it that simply all posts count towards all the scores you might have or not have?

#2I don't have a clue anymore. I think the upgrade skewed some counting. If you are happy I am happy. :)
Gonna see what happens to me after this one. -

#3Yep it added it. -

#4Yep sure enough. Now I try something in the admin panel... -

#5Ooops. Somehow the rest of this conversation invaded goblef's thread.
I am sure he won't mind. Go there to see my rambling. Short story long, couldn't figure the damn thing out. Will mess with it later....maybe. ;) -

#6Hmmm, so now the insane world is going to invade the sane one......
Not that it matters that much, because after all the only reason why there is a loony bin, is to protect the sane people from the madness outside.....
I have to admit that I would very much like to be in the loony bin. Seems a much quiter place to be.
On the other hand, then I would not get to drive my car.... Rather insane and outside then as inside where it is safe and quite.
You where saying something about rambling Strolen? ehhr I think I just had a stroke of that as well.

#8Boy, you dug this one out of the cellar didn't you. -

#9I like cellars! You never know just what you might find in the dark corners of the rooms! One time I even found a monkey in mine! He was smokin the fattest joint I've ever seen and playing craps with the local vermin, a one-eyed rat named Killer, and a vicious, battlye scarred tabby cat named fluffy! -

#12Oke, I am going to do the teribble shameless thing and bring this thread back to life....
Of course there should be some solid rambling here, but I am afraid it is a little late for that as I have spend six, no seven intensive hours of teaching and to make life worse, I was not even teaching in dutch or english, no I had to teach in french.
Now do not get me wrong, I love french, it is a beautifull language, but it is sort of hard to teach in french, as I have problems with the proper vocabulair all the time. I mean a computer no longer is a computer, but a ordinateur. A user is no longer a user, but a utilisateur and so he/she has no user id, but a code d'utilisateur.
Hmmm rambling all along anyway... but the discussion is nice enough though.

#13Hm, Good to see you posting again, Ylorea.
Personally, I'm shocking at learning other languages, so I just stick with english and make a note not to move to foreign speaking countries ^_^
So in my opinion, I don't know whats so wrong with sometimes getting the wrong vocabulary into another language - you've already accomplished more than I would be able to ever do :P Becoming quite fluent in at least 3 languages. -

#143 languages is a huge achievement. If I could pick three languages to know, I would pick Welsh, Japanese, and Mayan.
And yes, there are people who speak Mayan. They are Mexican Mayans who live in the Yucatan Peninsula. -
Re: Counting the posts and stats
#15Yep, the rampbling thread is back... No idea if it will still raise my xp, mp or any other p that we used to have in the old days, but whatever.....
Captain, to be honest, I should say that 3 languages is not realy that difficult. It is all about a simple thing.... well, your mother-tongue is exempt, since you can not do that much about it.... you will have to learn that one.
Learning a language is all about: do you like the language. If you like it, it is not that hard to learn.
I first learned dutch, because I was born and am still living in the netherlands and it is just practical and logical to learn the language of the country you where born in and are living in.
Second I learned english, since it was fun to understand the talking horse that was showing on sky-channel, the first commercial TV channel in my country.
Third I learned french. I loved the country, so the language was easy, safe for the writing, which I only learned when I had a love interest in the country.
Fourth I had to learn german. I never liked the country, I never liked the people and the language to me sounds like swearing... you quessed it, I am rather poor at german, even though about half of my in-laws are german....
with kind regards,
Ylorea -
Re: Counting the posts and stats
#16Actually, Ylorea hit it right on the head there. I myself have always loved Latin and Greek, but never really liked Sign Language, so even though I learned basic SL, and haven't taken Latin in over a year, I know my latin better than my SL. *shrugs* Go dead languages! Next up, Greek. -
Re: Counting the posts and stats
#17I know one language, English. However, considering my step brother is mexican, and my step mother was raised to speak spanish, I have learned a few words of spanish. Now I know when she is cussing me out and can cuss at her too. -

I only know 2 1/4 languages >_<
Tagalog, English and some japanese words (that's the 1/4)
But in the contrary.... I do want to learn the dieing language! (Latin) -
Re: Counting the posts and stats
#19dead language Rei, it's dead.
i would like to learn latin too, pretty cool language.
what are we talking about again?

Re: Counting the posts and stats
#20Latin is not dead yet, and as long as the catholic church stands, Latin will live on. Ever heard a preist preach to you in Latin? I thought he said he was a corrupt buffon, and he really said Stan was a corrupt angel. I never really liked church as a kid, waking up early on a sunday never rubbed me right. -
Re: Counting the posts and stats
#21Latin is dead. It's not the spoken language of a geographically close people anymore, no one asks for some soup and ale in Latin, nor the time of day or what are you planning on doing today. Its only substantive uses that I think of in the present day are for scientific naming and theological and biblical text, as well as students of the 'classics.'
