  1. Shopping Cart

But this Shopping basket type thing is definitely a great idea :!:
It really only needs a cool name. Hmmm...
    ? Download basket ? Grabbing basket ? Trophy/Loot/Booty basket/bag/pocket ? ???
I dont know... maybe Booty Bag  or Bag of Holding may sound familiar

    Manfred's purse
    The Stash
Citadel Storage Sheds (9.99 a month)
    Royal Vault

    Anyway, how about this.
Obviously will be able to choose infinite amount of anything. Going to add a "Add to Booty Bag" (whatever we are going to call it) I will open a new window that will add the thing to your cart and show you everything else that is in there.

Figure I will have the delete button by each of the saved items as well as a checkbox for selective deleting and a clean basket button. Standard stuff.

Also for each item in it I was going to put an order box that will be the order they are displayed on the print page for them. So you can reorder them as you want.

Also a checkbox for printing comments with them or not.

These things will stay in the box forever until they are deleted. Will put a link in the user pref box to show how many items are in it and allowing to view it at anytime.

Can you think of anything else?

OK, the gears are working, figured I would bounce the rest of the ideas. The previous post pretty much sums the shopping cart part up. Once you have everything in place you will be able to go to a print page where it all will be displayed in a printable forms.

Here is the full idea as I see it right now:
    The Cart:
-Have to be logged in first of all for any of it to work. Too much trouble doing it any other way. Benefit of registration you could say.
-The "Add to Booty Bag" or whatever will be shown on the Viewing pages, not the main summary pages. When you view a submission the "add" text will be added somewhere to the list of stuff under the submission's text where the hit count and votes are.
-Clicking on "add" will open another window that shows the current items selected including the new one and gives options to messing with it. Once it shows you the stuff it is done, closing the window will no effect the cart. Will have some text saying it is safe to close the window after any changes have been saved.
-You can choose unlimited plots/items/npcs/ideas and will add the function for encounters and whatever else we add.
-The cart will be permanent. The choices will remain in there until they are deleted by the user that created them.

    Cart Options
-Sorting of the cart items will be interesting. Now I am thinking of giving a couple different options.
--1. There will be a text box with the current order of things in it. You will have edit the numbers making them into the order you want the items to be displayed.
--2. Can also simply choose to organize them by actual submission types. With that you can choose if you want heading seperators (plots, items, etc) or just list them in that order.
-Will be able to delete anything you wish or clear the entire cart with the click of a button.
-Choose whether or not comments will be shown with the cart items. Can enable them or disable them for each saved item. So if you want the comments for one item and not another, you just enable the ones you want.
-Print the selection in the way you created it.

Saving Your Cart for others to view.
-I was thinking to do it this way. Once you have your cart set up with everything you want, whatever it is there will be another option that will ask if you want to share your collection with others.
-Clicking on this will come with another page that will allow you to:
    --1. Title your collection
--2. Provide a description of it.
---a. If it is just a collection of favorites then it still needs to be explained for the summary pages for people to choose to see it.
---b. If you wish to tie it together is some sort of adventure, then you can be as detailed as you wish, effectively creating another plot using characters, plots, ideas, and items from other people and creating a unique adventure or something.
-The description and title will be on the top with the cart items listed below in the order chosen by the creator with all the same options.
-The viewer of the items will be able to:
--1. Add items from your selection to their own basket.
--2. Add all the items from your selection into their own cart
--3. Simply print your entire selection including your title and comments.

The saved Collections will be a page unto themselves using your title and description to explain what the collection is.

That is the nutshell at the moment. Working it out on paper to make sure I didn't miss anything before I jump into it.

As always any suggestions and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I honestly had no idea where you were going with the shopping cart idea untill you outlined it like that. That does sound very cool! I hope you plan to include the ideas in this as well, since we all could use ideas, after all. Are we going to be able to comment on these collections as well, like the plots now?

This looks like a great way to gather up some of the scattered gems of brilliance that are here and put them all together. Bit like a jewler making a crown or something.

Now that I know what you're talking about, I want it! Full spead ahead!

Comment on the collections. Didn't even think of it with everything else involved. Good idea and of course you will be able to comment on them.

Ha! There is the Guided Tour for Strolen's Citadel!

Two in one, that's what I like. And comments that will be!

(Funny, just considered to make an example Spiritual Guided Tour, with items, plots, npcs, ideas all good for shamanic use. There are quite good ones there.)

Oh yeah, something I didnt' think about. How do you organize the favorites???

I can trim the menus down a little bit more, there are a couple links there that describe different parts of the same page, but I guess I will need to add another on the Main Menu, Favorites or Reader's Choice or some kind of name. Then we get to the page....how to sort them?

I think obviously on the author's page there will be links to collection made by them, but got to figure out how to just list them. Maybe by authors, titles, date created. I suppose maybe we should have votes on the collections perhaps and have a sort option that way? Hmmm. Doesn't effect the building of the shopping cart...unless we want to try and catagorize them, but it would be pretty broad and I would never think of all the possible themes or reasons people put stuff together. Guess just wing it? Maybe on the view submissions place we can incorporate some compiled ones. Like, if you like this plot, then try Homer's Killing Spree compiled by manfred and that compilation would have that plot in it and whatever else. Point being, the submission being viewed would be part of the collection.

Something like that, will have to think about it.

I would have like hoard instead of vault, but I was always a sucker for anything dragon related. 8)
