Creating the Character
#1Therafter 5 is a new setting for the 5th Edition, inspired by Fallout 3 with bits and pieces from other post-apocalyptic worlds.
This document covers the major differences from the main system, and assumes you have access to the 5th Edition D&D’s Players Handbook. It can be used with the online ruleset, but the class and feat selection becomes much smaller.
reating the Character
In Therafter, the process of creating a character is the same as the base rules, though the selection of available classes is much smaller, and the list of races is different. In some cases, ability scores in excess of 20 are possible.
Step 1: Choose Race
Select from:
Normal Human
Pureblood Human
Mutant/Genemod
Supermutant
Stricken
Step 2: Select Class

Step 3: Determine Ability Scores

Hit Points and Hit Dice
The world of Therafter handles HP somewhat differently than the Core rules. There are 2 types of HP - Core and Secondary. Your Core HP are those from 1st level including CON Bonus. All other HP are Secondary. This has important consequences in healing.
Step 4: Apply a Background
Choose from one of:
Archologist
Caravaner
Courier
Cultist of Dead Religions
Follower of the Machine
Raider
Road Warrior
Scavenger
Or one from the PHB as appropriate.
Step 5: Choose your equipment
See equipment chapter for details, or the upcoming Therafter Equipment guide.
