Nice place you got here!

1. Nice place you got here!

Hello, all. I'm Robotguy. While it's not a particularly appropriate name in the fantasy settings where I play, I try to use the moniker wherever possible. I work for a robotics company, build hobby robots, own the URL (http://robotguy.net/blog), gmail address, and even have the personalized license plate:
   https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3024799/rbotguy_avatar.jpg

I am constantly reading in an attempt to improve my DM skills. I heard about the site through r/dnd and have been very impressed with the work going on here. I hope someday to contribute. Unfortunately, at the moment, I believe my tastes would not be too popular here. Since my current players and I are pretty new to RPG's (specifically D&D 5e), we are more than satisfied with tropes, clichés, elves, swords, and other "stock fantasy" accoutrements. After all a cliché isn't a cliché if you've never seen it before, and some amount of familiarity provides comfort in a new undertaking.

Until such time as I can make worthwhile contributions then, I shall remain quiet, respectful, and appreciative of the work and ideas posted here.

   Thanks!

Welcome, Robotguy! Don't worry, you'll find we like robots just as much as rocs.

Enjoy your cliches while they're still pleasures, and when they become tedious, harvest from our bountiful stock. Don't be afraid to contribute, though! Maybe you can provide us with some androids and the like.

Here, have a bowl of fresh robot food:

Ooh, yes, robot subs would be fun.

Many welcomes, Robotguy. I look forward to seeing your take on the usual fantasy tropes. And robots, if you are so inclined.

   Thanks!

I do have one idea that, while intended for the beginning of a low-level campaign, may be interesting enough to warrant a submission. Maybe I'll post the concept over in "Sagely Advice" and see if it's worth fleshing out.

   Mr. Robotix!

So cool! We always wanted a robot guy around here...

Hope the site is to your liking.

   1) Are a robot?
   2) Not sure I believe you. Answer this Turing question:  How much wood would a woodchuck chuck?
   3) Attach your "stock fantasy" here: http://strolen.com/quest/39 . If they can get away with an assassin side-quest, (http://strolen.com/freetext/Assassin) anything you submit will be great ;)

   i) I hear robots like structure so I made that a list.
   ii) Welcome to the Citadel

   1) Are a robot?
My heart is human, my brain IBM.

   2) Not sure I believe you. Answer this Turing question:  How much wood would a woodchuck chuck?
Woodchucks don't chuck wood, but if they did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q6Ti9xCX_M

I shall surely look into that, kind sir.

Engineers like lists, too, so thanks!

I for one would be interested in your "new" beginnings in fantasy. a fresh pair of creative eyes can be refreshing, maybe a thread in the settings area ,I've been running one version or another in D&D for over 30 years and am always looking for fresh ideas and also willing to throw in my 2 cents. And Welcome!
