Just wondering how many Strolenatis have their own wordpress blogs now that I have started my own (although my posting frequency is twice a week, never a diary person) and also wondering whether anybody want to enter into mutual follow mode?

    I am thinking about one.

But it will be a development and security blog. Not sure if that is any fun for you ;)

    I have https://alfkin.net/campfire/, with a whopping 2 posts! :P

It's a fiction blog where I only plan to post serialized tales. Once I finish up my latest pumpkin quest thread, I plan to post pretty regularly there, but that could be a couple months away.

I did suck at programming when I did my IS degree but somehow I'm also thinking about a more private blog Yahoo blog style sans comments from complete strangers as well so your blog might come in handy. Anyway, announce it when you have it ready AG so that other Strolenatis who might be interested get to see it.

Well done, the other Moon! I was thinking to eventually put up snippets of my White Deer novel but haven't got up to it yet. Shall visit soon.

Thanks Axle. I created this blog out of spur of the moment and didn't really tell any of my real life friends (I had grown distant to them anyway). So then I only have 8 followers currently and I can't be stuffed browsing on wordpress all the time to 'talk up' the new blog when I have the Citadel. So figured it would be good that Strolenatis knows about it and could visit it if interested.

If you're looking for followers and traffic, the best way is simply to produce good content. It'll take time, but it'll be a solid following that won't disappear at the drop of a hat either.

True, I'm not really looking for followers and traffic that hard, I'm an introvert. But then I feel a little like talking to myself with only 8 people following my blog and no one ever bothered to comment, just a bunch of likes. I just figured that I would sort of merge my blogging into the Citadel (or build a cross-link at any rate) given that I prefer browsing Citadel stuff more than what's up on Wordpress.

I guess why I made the blog in the first place was to put some of the general stuff about writing and surrounding topics that I want to share with someone that doesn't belong in the Citadel.

Currently, no. I have a website, and I occasionally post articles, but no blog just yet.

Just made a post on my blog 'advertising' for the Citadel yesterday!

I'm finding my enthusiasm for blogging weaning already (even though I'm just promising 2 posts weekly). I think that owes in part to the fact that being a Strolenati really spoiled me- I do not just hope for comments but actually expect to get some. So just having likes sort of sets my teeth on edge. Ah well... so far, I've been a good gal and keeping to my schedules. Over a month and a half, with a bi-weekly posting frequency, I've just managed to get 10 followers (with only light interactions with other blogs). So I guess it's not bad at all.

Just gotten 17 followers, don't know why I felt like posting with 17, it's not a magical number or my fav., I guess I just felt like it.

Are you all happy with the wordpress functionality and site?

The last part of your question is mildly unclear ("and site" doesn't form a complete thought).

In terms of functionality, WP is just about everything the average blog and even casual site needs. The plethora of themes and plugins let it do quite a lot. In my experience, it's one of your best options, unless you need some very heavy customization and coding.

Pretty much what CM said is how I think abt Wordpress. I do know all the basic HTML codes and some basic of CSS although I've always dreaded the actual implementation of CSSs. So while I could self-host my own site like the other Moon, I chose wordpress initially cos I just wanted a casual site. Having been using WP for a while, I do dislike the hurdles it set b/w me and the coding part such as I still don't have a drop-down yet that I bet I could just create myself within MS Frontpage if I did my own site from scratch (I did learn Dreamweaver but I have to say what I learnt about it is completely obsolete now and gone back to the lecturer). With WP, I'm just slack to dig thru the documentation to actual do a drop-down. But in the overall scheme of things, I would say WP suited me fine for my purpose.
