  1. What's in the box?

    #1
It's the second to last mission for the team of Shadowrunners and after major ops, big guns, warships, monsters, etc their 11th mission is to get to the Seng Chiu (Neo Singapore) office of the Bank of the Red Sun and extract an object from a long term safe deposit box.

    I don't know what's in the box.

A booby trap, to kill the runners
    The serum of eternal life
A doomsday key to activate the planet killer device

    Suggestions and help requested.

-The head of a close ally? Course then they would have to open the box.
-A puzzlebox that just so happens to burn out anyone with neural implants, as it's actually a sort of a vast self contained AI guarded memory stick.
-The box is filled with bricks, it's a setup.
-It contains a small singularity being kept stable by a thingiemajiggy. Open the box and it says meow and explodes.
-The box projects a realistic holographic scenario/mind control/drug haze around the runners as soon as they get Close enough, if they split up, they may notice.
-What's important isn't what's in the box, what's important is what's in the box inside the box.
-It's just a present to a friend who they happen to know well and like, but everyone and their grandma involved with that friend suspects it's something sinister and will try to stop you delivering it for that very reason. And of course enemies of the friend will want to see it delivered.
-The box contains real honest to god milk, a REAL milk run.

    - A coded message that says "I have it. All is well."
    - Looks empty, but there is something cloaked in invisibility. Either the technology of invisibility itself (don't know the tech of that game) or hiding something else mentioned above.
    - A summoning stone that was protected by the case now emanates a distress signal calling to all monsters for help.
    - Plans for some advanced tech or weaponry.
    - A collapsible tank. Hope they don't open it while in the vault.

Every last one of those is utter gold.

    My input:
-It's the original Pandora's Box. Whether or not it contains any remaining evils, or follows the mythos more closely and contains Hope is up in the air. One that looks like the other would be a nice twist.
-It contains an AI. Which, of course, is now quite thoroughly insane thanks to trillions of cycles of sensory deprivation. But it knows certain important secrets, which is why it wasn't deleted.
    -An original first-printing Gutenberg.
-A neural-implant virus that drives users insane with sensory overload. Also contains the counter-virus, which has been corrupted and is no longer effective.

    Hmmm...

The box holds a small, self-contained cryogenic cooler unit, which holds genetic material from the ten most powerful people in the world.

The contents aren't actually important:  The box itself stores data in its metal's crystal structure.  They must retrieve the BOX.

An ancient collection of scrolls written in archaic Arabic:  The original text of Al Azif, written by "The Mad Arab" Abd(ul) Al Hazred.  An outdated data storage unit lies next to it:  If this is linked to any network, the Great Old Ones rise soon afterward.

There's nothing in the box. Who wanted them at the bank at that exact moment? And why?

The patron of the mission is their usual patrons master, who dislikes the runners and considers them a liability, hence my gut inclination to a small but powerful bomb. The other main option is this is an important but dangerous item important to the enfgame of a illuminati xanatos gambit.

    Some fun ideas I had:

-The "real" copy of Dunkelzahn will, (Very famous dragon in the Shadowrun setting that was briefly president of the UCAS before dying less than 12 hours after his inauguration. http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Dunkelzahn) which is signifigantly different in one or two key parts than the current will that's publicly known.

-Ironclad proof who actually assassinated Dunkelzahn in the first place.

-The requisite credentials securing a majority share holding of a current mega corp and data store of all their dirty secrets. (A corp the runners either love or hate)

-The little black boxes/books of a famous and well known Johnson and/or fixer . (Inside these data stores would be a treasure trove of blackmail worthy info most people would pay a fortune to keep secret or learn the secrets of, and certainly way too hot to easily sell on Shadowland, yet too valuable to simply destroy.)

All these are springboards to further adventures and will ensure their lives remain "very interesting" (in the Chinese curse sense of the word.)

    Inside the box:

Complete files on the runner group, not just runs they've pulled and who owe's them favors and who they owe one to, but everything from their list of safe houses and contacts in the slums and most recent side bets on a brawl biking match, to the sweetheart they had a summer fling with back when they were just teens.

The amount of info on the runners is truly unsettling, who would, or even could compile that much data on a runner group? More importantly, what do they need this much intel on a runner group for?

The true names and locations of all those in witness protection-worth a fortune to the Mafia, if you can get the Mafia to pay up rather then murder you. :twocents:

The box is full of poison gas. :Thud:

The box has a beautiful royal crown of gold set with jewels-sadly it's been stolen, so you can't sell it as it's too hot to handle, and breaking it up will greatly reduce it's value.

    An [Urn Beast]  :ahh:

The villain's CD collection of slightly scratched CDs. :what:

The box contains gold bars :D

The box contains a treasure map  :beer2:
