"It would be something, you know, big and strong. Like me." Mystic gave a surreptitious flexing of his biceps and a sheepish grin to the lady.

"I... oh, hey, Sil, there you are. I kind of lost track of everyone. Where... where did everyone else go?"

This wasn't what he expected, thought Valadaar.  Don't tell them Echo, he thought. Technically Coldo's question was addressed to Echo, so he could quite honestly say 'no'.

Outwards, he said nothing.  He had nothing he wanted to add to the converation, and Echo had steered it well thus far.

Remaining quiet and listening, Tusserk kept his eyes on the rest of the room and the guards. He focused on any that seemed to let their fingers linger on the triggers of the loaded crossbows, muttering softly about about trigger discipline and their lack of.

Tusserk cleared his throat slightly as he clicked the tip of his thumb nail against the wood of his spear in succession of quick and slow taps as he spoke under his breath. "I hope you know morse code..."

Silveressa nearly tripped over her cloak at the voice suddenly erupting in her head, looking sharply about, the message ending as abruptly as it began and leaving her to briefly wonder she'd imagined it. "Find Al? "Alternate? Or maybe Allies?" She wondered out loud, Mystic's greeting catching her attention and breaking the train of thought.

She gave him a warm smile, the sense of relief that has thus far unharmed almost tangible; she reached out and gave him a reassuring pat on the arm, "Don't worry to much about it, a place like this is easy to get turned around in, the others are up at the castle speaking with the reagent about Lady K, hopefully over breakfast." She gestured back towards the towering stone structure, another occurring to her.

"Say, this might sound crazy but I could of sworn I just heard the voice of the professor in my head, like a spell, he said things at home were bad and he was having trouble keeping his form and for me to find Al, then the message got cut off." She shrugged and looked into Mystics eyes hoping he could tell from her expression she was both serious and sane.

(On a side note since all of us are old college friends what's everyone else's real first name? Any of them start with Al?)

Mystic's face turned pale and he backed up a step. After a moment, he swallowed and took a deliberate, deep breath of air.

"You know, I could've sworn I heard his voice last night, in the fire. I thought... well, I assumed that I was... you know, having, err, problems again. Do you think it really could've been him?"
  6. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #246
Silveressa nodded, sighing in relief at Mystic's confession, recalling her own response to his declaration of voice the night before and, a stab of regret overcoming her at the way she handled it then. "I don't know of anyone else that can speak into our minds like that so it has to be him, so relax you're not going mad, you were just the first person the Professor was able to speak to, perhaps you both shared the deepest connection of friendship back where we came from?"

"What did the voices say to you last night? Others might have heard something as well, we'll have to ask, it could have been the professors voice that lead Dozus to wander off last night too. If we piece the separate messages together we might figure out what he's trying to tell us." She blushed slightly as she realized she was rambling, and gave a glance down at Lucky before looking back up to Mystic, waiting for him to respond.
  7. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #247
Lucky quickly found himself overwhelmed by the scents and sounds of the market, the stench of humanity mingling with livestock and what passed for food to create a dizzy aroma that left him dazed as he followed alongside Silveressa, pressing up against her in reassurance, looking uncertainty as she seemed to panic and react to something.

The familiar smell of Mystic mingled with the scent of spiced sausage, the specifics of the conversation momentarily ignored as he ran his tongue over the fighters hand, the taste of cured meats mingling with the salt of his skin to form a unique flavor, their talk of mental messages causing him to tilt his head in curiosity Carly mind working over possibilities, the gnawing feeling of hunger in her stomach making coherent thought difficult.

"Less talk, more breakfast, lead us to the sausage stand," He told mystic, confident they could carry on their conversation just as easily while consuming freshly cooked delicacies as they could without.
  8. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #248
    Mystic absentmindedly stroked Lucky's fur.

"I.. I don't clearly remember. Something about a chemist, maybe? I dunno. It wasn't real clear and I thought, well, you know...

"Oh, hey, they have really great sausages over this way," he said leading them toward that particular stand.
  9. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #249
"Alchemist maybe?" Lucky leaned into the patting, the contact soothing, the promise of food even more enticing, as he followed the muscled fighter through the streets. "Did you normally hear voices and stuff all the time? Or did you choose to give your character some kind of mental flaw during write up?" Lucky phrased the question as delicately as he could manage, but the idea Mystic heard voices regularly struck him as somewhat unlikely.
  10. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #250
Silveressa struggled to suppress a grin at Lucky's line of questioning, muttering the word "Dogs!" under her breath before the promise of sustenance provided a ready distraction, "This does look appealing."  She quickly fished in her pack for a clean cloth on which to place the meats, digging out a few copper as well for the meal before storing her coin pouch once more in the middle of her back where light fingers would have trouble accessing it.

"Sorry love, but you can only have a couple, too much grease and you'll be in a bad way." She told Lucky softly, pondering the Alchemist suggestion while she ate. "If it was Alchemist it should be easy enough to locate one, a city this small can't have more than one, two at most." She gestured with the sausage as she spoke, her thoughts drifting momentarily.
  11. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #251
"No, I've never heard voices before and I didn't add any such details to this character when I made him up. It's just that... I was sure I was hallucinating when we got here. I'm starting to... well, I'm beginning to get what's real and what isn't. Sometimes I have trouble distinguishing between what's real and what my mind *expects* to see, you know? So, when the professor started talking in my head like that, I thought, well, sure I've just really lost it now. So glad I was wrong."

Mystic looked down at Lucky and hesitantly pulled his hand away.

"Umm, is that ok? Or is it too weird?"
  12. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #252
Turning his attention to the grey beaded male, Tusserk spoke up. “My name is John Smith, and you would be? What is your assessment of the situation?”
  13. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #253
Lucky whined at Silveressa's decision, the human part of him feeling a spark of resentment at her ordering him about like a, well, animal. The Dire wolf and German Shepherd side of him however, pushed him into submission, his head lowering in deference before he consciously realized it. Mystic's question intruded upon his internal battle, the welcome presence of his touch now noticeably absent.

"It's fine Mystic, I don't mind at all, being petted feels nice." He replied, the food Silveressa offered him a distraction from what he intended to say next, the spiced meat a wash of flavor he had never experienced, his desire for more making him beg softly, hoping someone would reward him with a third sausage despite Silveressa's declaration to the contrary.
  14. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #254
Silveressa grinned and shook her head, a brief glimmer of worry crossing her face as she noticed the distinctly canine traits Carly was exhibiting, "Do you really want to risk a case of pancreatitis in a world without veterinarian medicine?" She asked him, delicately nibbling on the sausage herself, finding the spices appealing, but a bit too intense for her liking.

"Hmm I wonder how the professor is contacting us? Some kind of spell or some other way? Is he here as well maybe as a ghost?" She shrugged, wishing desperately for a cup of hot coffee to ward off the mornings chill. She addressed the stall keeper after a moments thought, "Good sir, would happen to be familiar with a drink called coffee and by chance know where we could find a vendor of such a beverage?"
  15. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #255
I assume my astute Wisdom and bull-poop radar have not picked up Lorclodo as obviously insincere? I am writing from the point of view of at least rudimentary verisimilitude of his words.

"I am not aware of anything particular being picked up from the faux lady's remains - but it is possible that her slayer pilfered something. There was a degree of haste involved, you will understand." Liantirie shrugged. "It would be wise to send condolences and compensation to her kin when the time is ripe."

She did not object at his offer of bread, beef and cheese - and Echo was actually eager to taste proper food with those astute Elven senses. It made no sense for anyone to poison the meal, not when they had her in a castle surrounded by minions. "I will have a beer instead of wine, if you will."

"While I believe that the castle is safe in your hands, I can offer our services to look for the real lady Karkayla. I do not envy your position now - the entire responsibility of running the hold and the realm, coupled with the minute aspects of managing the castle, and having to represent, and to negotiate. Heavy is the head that wears the crown."
She sounded concerned, to illustrate to the castellan that autocracy was not all gold and wenches and gravy.
"We're of an adventurous sort - less suited for combat in the infantry's ranks, but perchance more so for a rescue endeavor. My armor may mislead, but my comrades are rather trackers and woodsmen than men-at-arms. Especially the wolf (a charming creature, you should get to know it). We'd welcome a secure base in these parts, and I can think of no better than such a hold run by a team of ruler and castellan - and wise advisers."
She showed him her open palms in a gesture of trust: "We would not mind the employ - it seems a just cause. Yes, I am a mercenary, but I can see a cause of worth. We do have to eat - thank you - but other than that, this seems like a quest that should be undertaken."

And there will be enough time to interview Lord Webber, and to assess the truth of your words, you weaselly smarmy runt. You're more likely to slip up if you trust us, too.
  16. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #256
"Nay, mi'lady, only Kvass" the man answered Sil with a confused look on his face, and extended her a mug of what looked like fermented liquid bread. "1 copper"", he suggested.

As they lingered abut the stalls eating and drinking (the simple joys were best), they could hear all the talk amidst the market stalls

    1. Trolls, there was more than one apparently, were currently up from the Soulmarsh Vast and raiding. Some talk of the castellan neglecting his duties in sending out troll-slaying parties...

    2. Word of seeing the Reeve's Men, the skeleton riders, had reached Coldmoat. Folk were nervous. Apparently the "Reeve" and his "men" were some sort of vigilante force of justice in these parts, and were no doubt investigating the great fire that took down the Arms and Antlers.

    3. Whispers of the Lady Karkayla Rodden's disappearence circulated like wild-fire.

    4. Elves, yes elves, were apparently striking up raids from the Soulmarsh Vast as well. It did not seem that relations between human and elf were of an overly positive variety in these parts. Elven raiding sorties from a swamp? What kind of elves were these?

    5. Talk of Lord Webber of Webhold, and his no doubt eventual advance on Coldmoat, now that the castle was rudderless. Folk did not seem to have much faith in Clodo Dunsen.

Just then, the candle-seller that worked the stall next to where they were standing interjected a throat clearing. "I could not help but overhear" he croaked, his numerous lit candles illuminating his face and casting shadows, "You seek an alchemist?" I know of one.." he smiled.
  17. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #257
Silveressa turned in surprise at the candle vendors comment, her annoyance at his eaves dropping quickly replaced by curiosity at his comment, "Really? and where would they be found?" She asked him, giving the man her warmest smile in the hopes her feminine charm would loosen his tongue without the need for coin

(Charisma roll: Minion: Silveressa rolls 1d20 and gets 7. )
  18. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

He does seem a touch insecere :)

A servant brought in a tray with dark rye bread, salt, and stinky cheese...

A second servant made his way over to the castellan and whispered something into his ear.

Clodo sighed audibly and rubbed his forehead in consternation.

"Indeed, mi'lady, the crown weighs heavy, as I sit back on my throne..." Clodo repeated a line from a famous poem.

"These chasm-trolls will be the end of us," He glanced over at his silent gray-bearded adviser for support..."The crofters village is abandoned and destroyed. Now it's attacking Fayre Inch...unless there are two trolls now.  The gods laugh at us as we sit in our castles. Yet I dare not send out men, not with Webber plotting his vile plots..."

The old graybeard raised an eyebrow, his concentration temporarily broken, by Tusserk's address. The old man peered intently at the monk but said nothing.

"You won't get an answer from him, he cannot speak. This is Saemurn Sage-tongue. He has advised three generations of Roddens, and now advises me. Doesn't say much but he can tell whenever someone is...lying. Very helpful."

"An honorable offer, you want to help us find our Lady" Clodo squinted at Echo, "But what about trolls? They say elves make the best troll-slayers, along with dire-wolves..." The castellan smiled insincerely.
  19. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #259
    Indeed no coin was needed...

"*She* mi'lady, may be found south in the Soulmarsh Vast. They say she's a hermit, living in the swamp amidst the blood-sucking leeches and trolls. They also say she speaks to demons, and creatures from other dimensions. They say she is a sorceress besides, and cooks and eats all who visit her. But for the longest time we have known of her as simply, The Alchemist."

The old candle vendor licked his lips.
  20. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

"I would not fancy myself a troll-slayer, I am sorry. Never slayed a single one, and wouldn't know how. Wasn't it the dwarfs with tattoos and red-dyed wild hair?"
She shrugged. There was no way she was dying fighting a troll.
"But do not let me keep you - if you decide our help is required in the search for the Lady, let me know please."

She folded her hands, and when Clodo looked away, gave the advisor a nod, pointing outside of the room. "I would like to inquire about the privy?" hoping that the old man would volunteer. He might be mute - but sages usually can write.
  21. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #261
When she asked for the privy, Clodo practically flared in distrust, as if she had just asked for a solo tour of the treasury.

    "Privy, yes." He managed.

The Graybeard creaked as he slowly rose from his chair then nodded at Clodo, and looked expressively at Echo.

"Yes, yes, no doubt you need the privy too by now Sage-tongue, with your raisin bladder... Go, go and show her if you must" he said dismissively.

At that point Clodo waived a guard over and whispered something feverishly into his ear. The guard nodded and left the room. There were now four guards present with Clodo at the council chamber.

"And what of you two? Does the elf do all the talking for you?" He turned to Val and Tusserk, as Echo and Saemurn left the room. "Why does the elven woman lead you?" His distaste for elves was apparent. Women too most likely.

"Do you know what we used to do with elves in the old days? We'd throw them to the eels. Are you familiar with our eels? They are as long as a man's arm and just as thick. And our moat is brimming with them."
  22. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #262
Meanwhile as the three companions listened to the candle vendor, Mystic noticed a man studying them from some distance away. Must be the wolf, Myst noted, but then the man quickly approached them.

"I ask you. No plead with you! Help me save my loved ones! No doubt you are able warriors" he glanced from Sil to Mystic, and then his eyes cast over Lucky, as if confirming some confidence in his decision to approach them. "Please help me! I don't think there is much time. The castellan' guards do nothing! And a troll is raging not two miles from here!! My wife and a few others are hidden in a cellar. I came to Coldmoat seeking help. Pleeeease!" He practically groveled, tears of sincerity in his eyes.
  23. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #263
Lucky eyed the salesman with his best skeptical dog look, speaking after a moments pause, "If she cooks and eats all who visit her then where did that particular rumor come from hmm?" She asked, giving the shopkeeper a wink, suddenly uncaring if his appearance and choice of words caused the man to soil himself or not, the mans theatrics were better spent on simple minded peasants than those standing before him.

The sudden arrival of the new comer caused him growl a soft warning, placing himself between the newcomer and his mistress without a seconds thought, listening to his words thoughtfully, "We could purchase another flask of oil and bellows, use the bellows to suck up the oil then spray it forth from behind a torch like a make shift flammenwerfer," he suggested to Silveressa and mystic, finding himself unwilling to outright refuse the mans plea and leave the death of innocents on his conscience.
  24. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #264
Silveressa opened her mouth to reply to the man when Lucky interrupted her, his suggestion making her pause in thought. "We could use the oil to coat our blades and make temporary weapons ala the scorpion king movies too, and if you can impale it and hold it at polearms length Mystic I should be able to hose it with oil and your flaming polearm would provide the ignition factor, toss in a bag of flour for a area effect dust explosion while it thrashes about and we got one dead troll."

She nodded to herself, the plan formulating in her mind as she spoke. "I can set up a bear trap or two and some oil coated caltrops as well to pin it down and make it easier for us to take on too."
  25. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #265
"Add in an oil soaked net for good measure, Mystic could sling one a good distance with those Minotaur sized muscles of his." She added as an afterthought.
  26. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #266
The man in need of help, cast his eyes about from one to the other, confused by their speech, but emboldened by the fact that they seemed intent on helping him. "I have two horses, not far, by the gate...please, i can pay, not much, but something!"

The candle-keeper went back to his candles, after staring saucer-eyed at Lucky speaking, and piddling in his pants.
  27. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #267
"Don't care the color of the dog so long as it hunts, my da use'd to say.  She's good at talkin' so we let 'er. "

  28. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #268
A big grin spread over Mystic's face.

"You know, I never really felt this way in the, uh, real world, but I must say... I'm really looking forward to giving that troll a real pounding." He closed his fist tight, forearm muscles bulging. He could almost imagine letting loose like he had in that burning tavern, giving in to the battle lust. Being in this body could feel damned exhilarating.
  29. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #269
Silveressa nodded in approval, the size of his muscles giving her an added boost of confidence as well. "Some caltrops, and a chain net with barbed hooks covered in the oil, wrap the flour in parchment for dust explosion balls fire via sling, add in some bottles of oil and moonshine for molotovs and we should be good." She turned to look at the farmer and nodded, "We'll help you, and don't worry too much about what we're saying, back in our land we're well versed in the scientific powers of chemistry and physics, they are kind of the magics of the world where we come from you might say." She grinned as she noticed the completely baffled expression on his face.

"We'll pen the troll in the dead book for you have no fear, all we ask in compensation is you assist us in purchasing a few needed tools for the job." She held down the remaining sausage for Lucky, the spices having largely curbed her appetite. "We should buy some extra oil so we can do a test fire of the bellows flamer well outside of town before we use it in battle, that way we'll know what to expect."
  30. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #270
Lucky panted in amusement as the scent of fresh urine wafted over him from the candle vendors stall, resisting the urge to snap in his direction for added effect, instead he found his instincts all but forcing him to mark the side of the stall with his own considerable stream before speaking again. "Why not use the deer hide from last nights kill and mock it up around a oil soaked straw dummy as a decoy? We can run a string to it and make it look alive so the Troll will charge it right into our trap."
  31. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #271
Silveressa knelt down and retrieved a piece of parchment from her pack and length of charcoal,  scribbling down a quick list of needed materials.

    5 gallons of lantern oil
2 glass or clay bottles of the highest proof moonshine possible
2 empty glass or clay bottles
    1 pouch of caltrops
    2 bear traps
    1/2 bale of hay
1 chain net (or square lengths of chain mail scrap we can fashion into a net easily)
30 large fishing or meat hooks
1 pile of dry rags (clean or filthy it doesn't matter)
    5 lbs of flour
    2 rolls of parchment
    1 sling
    1 ball of twine

"This should do it," She told the man, passing him the list and nodding, "I don't suppose you know where we can find a bard to come with and compose an epic ballad of our fight?"
  32. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #272
Less than an hour later, the huffing and puffing man met them at the gate, where his horses waited.

"My chemistry is a little rusty. Haven't touched it since Junior High, really, but if there's anything I can do to help prepare anything..."
  34. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #274
Silveressa nodded, passing him the tongs and thick metal wire she'd acquired from the market earlier, "With your strength you should be able to craft these chain link sections into a functional net, I'll get started on the straw dummy and prepping the molotvs and other goodies."

She looked over at Lucky and nodded, "If you want scout out the area and find a good spot for us to set up the ambush, also a suitable path of retreat in case things don't go as planned."
  35. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #275
Mystic set to, getting lost for a moment in the simple, repetitive joy of movement.

After a few minutes, he looked to Sil and said, "Should we look for the others? They've been gone awhile... If we're going up against a troll, it'd be nice to have everyone else on board."
  36. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #276
Tusserk turned his attention to the Castellan before speaking again. “We were born with two ears and one mouth, therefore I find it wiser to listen more and talk less. I have no problem letting an elf speak for me when it allows me to learn much more by listening. Over the course of this conversation I have discovered much.”

Wandering towards the window to look out the window, he tilts his head slightly to assess the drop into the moat and gauge the distance to the outer shore before continuing. “You put forth the claim that our payment was sent forth to one of the branches of our employers, yet seemed quite startled to find us here, as if you were expecting us to be quite dead. Who puts forth a full payment when they are expecting no one to arrive to collect that payment?” Turning his back to the window, he settled his weight against the ledge. “You are the Castellan of this keep yet you almost called yourself Lord, before you knew that the Lady we were escorting was dead.”

“You said that sending out bait in the Lady’s place was your idea, yet you do not know what she was sent with or where the true Lady is. Does she not trust the man that she has placed in a position to care for her keep? The riders you sent out, were they your riders or hired from elsewhere? Who holds their loyalties?” Tusserk turned his full attention towards Clodo as he continued.

“You made mention that Lord Webber was behind this and would be attacking any day now to take advantage and seize the keep. I see no preparations for defense beyond the everyday defenses. To take and seize a keep would imply that you think you control the land between this keep and your keep, which would put him anywhere from one to three days march away.” Squinting his eyes slightly so he could shift them side to side to look at the guards still in the room, Tusserk tilted his head slightly as he continued. “Yet you also do nothing about the troll...s that are slaughtering the citizens of this keep and surrounding lands. The very lives you will need to defend this keep against the siege that would need to happen for Lord Webber to take it. Yet you are willing to offer the job to the very elf you despise and distrust.”

Tusserk leaned his head back as he continues his minutes long, one sided conversation. His eyes judging the roughness of the rocks that make up the walls of the keep. “The Sage-Tongue has advised three, now four, generations of rulers. That is a rather short lifespan for those that rule seeing as how he is in his late seventies or early eighties.” Tusserk’s left hand reaches up to wipe away a small bit of dust from the upper ledge of the windows before his fingers settle onto the outer left side. “As for the eels that are raised around here, I have swam with them already. Quite pleasant actually. They were hardly a bother.”

Flicking his eyes towards Valadaar’s location, he hoped the man caught his movements as his weight shifted just slightly in preparation to fall out the window if things went wrong in the most dead of ways.

“So that, my friend, is why I allow a female elf to talk for me. You, in your distain, have given away quite a bit of information.”
  37. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #277
Well, thats it, thought Valdaar. Things were going to get busy.  The Monk would probably survive the fall out the window, but that left him here with the 4 crossbows.

As soon as the Monk moved, so would Valadaar.

One thing larping had taught him - speed can be life, and he had been fast in the real world.  This body had 18 dex, top human capacity.  He would need it.

Casually, valadaar reached for the wine flagon as he watched for the Castalleon's reaction. He doubted it would be positive.

As soon as he yells at his men to get either myself, the monk or both, I'll hurl the flagon into the candelabra - which will at least snuff the lights, and incur a nice -4 to hit.
Then duck behind the table and pound leather out of here. Skinny 18 dex guy should be able to outrun armored folks.  Hide in shadows as soon as possible.

  38. Re: Guardians of the Citadel

    #278
Clodo stared wild-eyed at Tusserk, suddenly turning red, his pale face flushing, neck veins bulging, as if he was choking. Seconds later he coughed painfully and spat up a cheese rind.

"Kill them!" He bellowed. "Shoot him!" He palpitated, pointing specifically at Tusserk. The castellan reached beneath the table suddenly and pulled out a long-axe. "Elf-loving c-unts!"

Clodo Dunsen, despite his unimpressive, potbellied form, raged like a proper berserker, as he rushed toward Tusserk at the window, axe aloft and frothing at the mouth.

But moments earlier, Valadaar had flung the wine flagon at the candelabra, and suddenly the lights went out. Or not quite "out", since it was late afternoon and the window cast some light inside the council chamber, but rather the room had been turned into sea of dark shadows.

For a half-moment the guards were confused. But then crossbows twanged, two in courageous Tusserk's direction, two towards brave Valadaar, as the nimble thief dove beneath the table.

At this point we could say "initiative", but in this case I think we'll say Val and Tusserk get the next move/action. Then I'll roll for bolts flying to and fro. Then initiative. So Val, you're high-tailing it out of room? Tuss? Also, woooo!  :D

A few minutes prior to this chaos, old Saemurn Sage-tongue had quickly led Echo through a long stony hall, and turned a corner. Ahead was a dank archway that led to...well, the privy.

Saemurn stopped abruptly, faced Echo, and reached his gnarled hand toward the elf. No, not toward her, but rather he touched the stone wall behind her. There was a scraping sound and suddenly a doorway opened up in the very wall.

Saemurn continued studying Echo saying nothing, but his expressive eyes seemed to imply, "Go, quickly now!"

Echo could suddenly hear the sound of guardsmen approaching. They had not yet turned the corner to see the elf and the old man, standing there beside the privy.

Tusserk rolled his weight back to drop through the window as his right hand kept his spear held level with the ground. As his body slipped backwards through the window, the spear lodged itself against the inside of the window frame and started to bend. Tusserk released the upper portion of the spear as held onto the rock wall and started to climb.

(13:13:41) Minion: Tusserk rolls 1d20 and gets 18 to attack with the flung, spinning spear to the groin/legs of the Clodo of Doom
(13:14:03) Minion: Tusserk rolls 1d100 and gets 30 to start climbing the wall to the next floor up… unless I have become a pin-cushion :D

They seemed to be up the hilt in conversation with the local castellan and he seemed less than happy to see any of us, especially Elves, or Lucky, heading back there is likely to get us in a brawl I'd just as soon avoid, besides if we delay too long it'll be full dark and I'd rather not face trolls after sun down."

She knelt and continued her preparations, feeling a small twinge of regret at wasting the deer hide in such a manner, but the lives of innocent naturally took priority. "Once you get the net done before you  attach the fish hooks you might want to take some practice throws with it, any small pine tree should be sufficient to train on." She made a mental note to practice with the sling some as well, and gauge the effectiveness of the dust bombs before it came time to live deployment.

Get it right when it don't matter and you'll get it right when it does.
