Hi there. Name's Michael, and I've been gaming for a bit over a quarter-century now. I got started with red box Dungeons and Dragons, the one that came with plastic dice you needed to fill in with crayon wax. Moved on to 2e pretty quickly, and spent a lot of my time coming up with house rules to stitch together early netbooks. From there I moved on to GURPS, Unknown Armies, and Feng Shui, which is what kept me going in the early 2000s, though I also had a lot of fun with Mage, Hunter, Wraith, and Werewolf.

These days I don't have a lot of time to play, but I enjoy more narrative systems like Fate and various Apocalypse World hacks.

I make my living as an author, and the idea to turn some of my IPs into rpg settings or systems gnaws at me from time to time, but I don't know if I've got the time for it.

    Welcome!  :D

We've plenty of writers here, but I don't know how many career writers. What do you write?

Fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction. Mysteries and thrillers. Been on a steampunk kick lately.

You story sounds like many of ours. Love to write, need somewhere to mind splurge ideas just for fun and enjoy seeing what others do. Time is definitely the kicker for most of us.

Glad you found us and hopefully you will find enough time to share a few things!!

I certainly hope to come up with something witty and informative to share with you all.

This is you? http://www.mcoorlim.com/ If so, the steampunk looks intriguing. Checking out "And They Called Her Spider" next.

I still have the plastic d10's that came with Star Frontiers. Most of the crayon is still present, which is kind of amazing considering just how much I used those two dice before putting them up (I keep them in a plastic tube that also houses folded up character sheets from 20 years ago and my remaining death die where the skull is still visible).

In any case, it's good to have you here. Welcome aboard!

What a fun read. Thanks for making that available.

Also, thanks for making me look up the word "Goetic."

...and a few other words aside from goetic as well.

Being a fan of the original Victorian, gaslight duo of detectives, I found this to be an enjoyable read.
Nice turns of the phrase and nice pacing. Almost like an alternate world Sherlock pastiche, yet not. The voice is original.

Good work, oh and welcome to here!!
