2014 Goals and thoughts
#1Was relooking through the server to try and find something and stumbled upon the elder citadel
http://strolen.com/FUN/strolen_old/index.php3
Also noticed that the Citadel's birthday is officially, 08 AUG 00
So that is a little bit away however, the idea of using that as a realistic goal time frame for the new sites launch holds some realism to it.
I am plugging along fairly well on the redesign but...
1) Artist is working a header and other stuff to actually make the site look good. That will probably be a few weeks.
2) I have, literally, eight 2-sided pages of 1 line bullets to to-do's that is above and beyond just getting the site working. (and that continues to grow as realistic and good ideas continue to crop up or I see something that needs done.)
3) We can still launch Val's ebook as soon as it is ready, but would be nice to have a few to pad that offering for the site launch.
4) ChaosMark's generator is one of the most badass things ever. By then, it should have everything ironed out a probably a stack full of useful "official" generators as well as a way for me to bring them together by then without a doubt.
I seriously toyed with moving fully to Django for this, and I still might. But not sure of my time and the learning curve for it. I bought a book on Django 1.5 (web tutorials are great and all that but not fully realistic to me when starting a huge project). So I will hold off on the final answer for that and will continue moving forward. I can just get things done in PHP so will stick with that for now. If that happens, we can pray that I can meet an August release. :)

I was thinking of purchasing the entire list of 30 or so pictures from that artist. Was just going to make him an offer and see if he was up for it. We can eventually use every single one of them. Whether it be a quest to write up something for them or if we just turn them loose in the submission graphic library. Will fix up that sponsor portion so we link back to him on each sub that uses it. He likes the linkbacks and is excited about continuing to work with us. Once he finishes our first contract, I told him I wanted to do a graphic a month forever basically. Will reward golds, quests, people I like...whatever. :)
But the main thing was asking about that date. I think it gives me a couple months to get the new site to level 0 and the new design. Then I can even start on the bigguns, like a Regions thing that actually works. Add a blog feature, get some tutorials and walk throughs up, artist submissions type that others can use in their subs... There are also ton of small user enhancements that I want to do above refining all that we currently have in a usable but not great state.
Also, I am either leaving here in July or November. Either way, August splits it pretty good so I should be stabilized to run with it.
Sit is working well as-is so we aren't in crisis. But it definitely needs some fixing. And the new site always takes me a couple iterations before it actually looks usable too. The Author page is a mess, but first drafts are always painful.
Just a few minutes before the kids wake up so figured I would post a few early morning thoughts.

Re: 2014 Goals and thoughts
#2Decided to a bit of research today on Django and what it means.
Biggest question: What about the forum?
Are there any django forums out there we could move to? DjangoBB looks promising but not sure about the migration.
Anyway, that seems to be the biggest hurdle quite honestly. -
