Bug Reports
#1Enter thine bug reports here.
Known Bugs:
No-items in a generator should produce a message to that effect, instead of not rendering anything (and producing a 500 request error for the AJAX call).
Fixed:
Variable buttons on the redactor editor don't display; the icon isn't being loaded (css issue).
Generator names should be required, but currently aren't. (Also, need to add a placeholder for display if a generator somehow gets a blank name)
Variables always end up pointing to the first generator in the list as opposed to what you enter
Variables should not explicitly return page/paragraph breaks or some means of stripping those when capturing the result should be possible.
Items with multiple tags fail to render. Ex. "Item 2 {Color} {metal}" (Python string format KeyError)
Template variables from sub-items with template names matching main item names interfere with each other. (Need to do unique key replacements all at once at the beginning for each "level" of the template parsing, instead of iteratively.)
Whitelist br, a, img, and table tags.
Special quotes will break the file import.
Formatting copied from a submission disappears on save.
Javascript not working (CSS isn't loading, which breaks the javascript that relies on it)

Re: Bug Reports
#3another one - variables always end up pointing to the first generator in the list as opposed to what you enter
I added a variable {Trees} pointing to Aggressive Trees.
Ends up pointing to First Test Generator.

Re: Bug Reports
#4Thanks for this Chaos! I'm really looking forward to building some cool stuff with these!
-
Re: Bug Reports
#5Woo, getting awesome.
However:
Item #1:
{Pre}{Mid}{End}
{Pre}{Mid}{End}
These variables are identical - 2nd occurrences are not rerolled, so if I wanted to say, generate 20 names in one shot, I need to create 60 variables.
Can variables be 'rolled' each time they are referenced?
-
Re: Bug Reports
#6If you scroll down far, the submit button gets disabled until you scroll up a lot.

This isn't technically difficult, but there are instances when you might not want that to happen (imo more common than the opposite). Would an option to tag a variable as requiring regeneration every reference be an acceptable solution?

Can I get a generator link for this, so that I can see it in-action? -
Re: Bug Reports
#8Tagging would be great!
Does not appear to be consistent. Will try.
-
Re: Bug Reports
#9Since the regeneration is not really a bug, but more of a feature, I'm adding it to the feature requests list. -
Re: Bug Reports
#10Piled a bunch of scrolls into this generator - http://readpostplay.com/g/44
Some loose html tags, - in many cases CRs were converted into loose
entries.
-
Re: Bug Reports
#11Yay html sanitizer. Nice to know it really works, though. I'll add br tags to the whitelist when I add and tags. -
Re: Bug Reports
#12Sweet - we can have tables _in_ our generators :P
-
Re: Bug Reports
#13Clone button gone. -
Re: Bug Reports
#14Pics and description. It's still showing up on mine, underneath the details button. -
Re: Bug Reports
#15Ignore that one. User issue.
-
Re: Bug Reports
#16The special tick and backtick (or at least one of them) as opposed to straight single quotes will crack the file import. Lots of tasty django error messages.
Not a big deal now I know about it.

Re: Bug Reports
#17Please PM me those. I need to see what's going on so I can protect against it. -
Re: Bug Reports
#18Hex 0x91, decimal 145. Can't render it in ascii.
-
Re: Bug Reports
#19Did it again with "St. John’s Wort"
-
Re: Bug Reports
#20Pasting in formatted text copied from a sub. The Bold, links paste in well, but are lost upon saving.

Re: Bug Reports
#22Dozus is seeing unintended CRs in his 3rd world country generator.
For example, when Plutocracy is rolled as a government form, the html generated is:
...
Government:Plutocracy - blah blah blah
...
Where it works normally:
Government:"Failing Republic - blah blah blah"
So, only 1 object, and the text is quoted.
When I clone the Government widget and look at 'good' and 'bad' entries, nothing appears different between the two apart from the text and some indentation.

Re: Bug Reports
#23Any news on the missing gen page? -
Re: Bug Reports
#24The issue is with RPP.com, not with the generators. Strolen said he'd be taking a look at it sometime soon... -
Re: Bug Reports
#25Editing a list is odd.
when I attempt to edit http://strolen.com/g/edit/422
The name nor description gets changed.
-
Re: Bug Reports
#26Okay, it appears that the gui does not refresh automatically.
When I click edit on a generator, I get the default values for name, description, checkboxs and the like. I need to hit refresh to get the actual values to populate.

Re: Bug Reports
#27Oh right. Bug reports. You guys actually expect me to fix shit. Forgot about that. -
Re: Bug Reports
#28
Wait, I thought we were supposed to talk about invertebrates we saw. 'Cause I've seen a lot of beetles around lately, and I wanted to report it.

I like this idea better. -
Re: Bug Reports
#30Just uploaded new generator but somehow when I went to change name and description of the generator, the Save changes and Delete generator buttons both don't its work i.e. are dead whenever I click on them. So now my Chinese name geneator's not active and goes by the generic name of Generator #None. -
Re: Bug Reports
#31This is an issue with the number of items in the generator. The short version is that since it uses a WYSIWYG editor for every single item, your browser is getting overloaded, so those buttons aren't working.
Val has been pestering me to include a GUI-less option for a while now, precisely because of that problem. It now has a higher priority, since others are suffering as well. -
Re: Bug Reports
#32I see, I actually successfully uploaded a 30s generator before but then went a little ambitious and expanded it to a 101, which is the current version. So guess I will wait for the GUI-less option before editing cos the 30 names version has been overwritten already. -
Re: Bug Reports
#33Similar to what Moonlake reported, none of the buttons (Save, Delete Generator, Add Item) work on any of my generators. I didn't even try to upload a list, I just started one from scratch. Seems to be across the board in all my browsers. Valadaar said something about the tags being stripped out. I don't know what that means, but it sounds bad.
I can upload text files to become generators, but because the edit buttons don't work, I can't do anything with them. -
Re: Bug Reports
#34The Save changes and Delete generator buttons don't work in IE 10. Cancel button does work and saves a generator as an inactive generator under my name even though I ticked the active box. -

Unfortunately, I am completely unable to test against any of the Internet Explorers since I don't have a Windows box. Can you check in another browser and see if the problem persists? -
Re: Bug Reports
#36Okay, will check with Google Chrome tonight. -
Re: Bug Reports
#37Confirmed that the same thing happens with Chrome -
Re: Bug Reports
#38chrome debug is full of :
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
It appears all of the .css still points to strolen.com/g/...
This raises an error:
$('#item_1').collapsible({headline: 'Item #1'});
-
Re: Bug Reports
#39All the old links are intended to be the same. That was part of the transparency to end users I was aiming for. Even if the hosting is on another server, everything should appear like it's sitting on the main strolen.com domain. I'll have to figure out why it's not quite working (though to be fair, I was a bit curious as to whether the static stuff would have issues or not). -
Re: Bug Reports
#40That bug should now be fixed. Saving, deleting, and cancelling all work correctly for me, now that the static files are loading properly.
