#1We contracted a freelance artist to do some custom art for some subs we are putting in the first ebook.
Here is the nitty gritty.
With the help of your donations and what I am ready to commit for the first set we have $300 pledged to his work.
With that we will get 7 custom images and a sweet undead army picture that is already created.
Army picture we will use for the Oldu Corpses.

I will let you follow the links around from there to see his other posted work. He has 50+ images posted in various places and they are all pretty cool.
So, as a start, $40 per piece of artwork. Happy to spend it and they will be awesome. He is just as excited about it as we are. He loves the descriptions he has read and is looking forward to it.
Excellent, I must say I'm quite excited too, of the character descriptions I've read all of them sound like a hell of a lot of fun to paint!
Additionally he will be posting a pdf full of art we can nab for $5 single use, $10 multiple uses. So we can nickel and dime those. Use them for prizes, quests etc. So that will be fun to look at too!
First thing is First.
We need three images we want graphics for.
I think we do two for this book and then choose one of our favorite citadel subs and just get a sweet ass graphic for it. I almost want to do one of Scras' since he is the most prolific writer. A reward. So maybe we give him the choice of what he wants illustrated? Just a thought.
After that set, I am going to ask him to help me with a Citadel header that is actually cool. I like our branding a lot, but it needs some style. Same with icons and maybe some main category images to better represent Items, NPCs, Creatures etc, so we can have something eye catching and awesome to identify them with. This will be a few weeks.
I need the image ideas soon though. See the challenge that I am putting up for the ones we are looking at having in the ebook.
And, by the way, Valadaar is doing a frick'n outstanding job bringing the ebook to life. The book is coming together fantastic and once he gets it stabilized it will be a great template for the books that will continue to spew forth! The groundwork for our plan to take over the world!

#2Posted the challenge for idea inputs to what we are looking to put in the ebook.
The Silenced Ones have a chance to be cut depending on what they come up with. The Awakened is on the edge as well.
Looking at probably illustrating the Cutsman and one other. Once we finalize the ebook entries we will see what would be the coolest.
Needs to be fairly soon though. Artist thinks he will start on ours around the 24th but could be sooner depending. I can shoot him the cutsman to start for sure and confirm that. i want to see that beast!
So we have 7, breakdown might be.
1 or 2 for this ebook + 1 for Scras. That is our first set of requests. So 2 with a possible 3rd.
Second set is my personal request for the site stuff as I mentioned.
After that another 1-3 for the next ebook which we will need to start figuring out rather quickly. Even if we don't end up using a sub in it, if the sub kicks ass then we will eventually put it in a book so nothing is wasted if we get art.
Then we use the other ones for either Goldens, Muro Award prizes, or Quest prizes.
It us up to us how we want to divvy them up. And at $40ish a pop, I will probably donate that monthly to keep the art going...once I get caught up from whatever it costs me for the site design.
That is the psuedo plan, but if you have ideas or subs that are DYING to be illustrated. LET'S DO IT! Don't wait for a reason, make it so!! -

#3I would pick Romero Coultier for my illustration, for two reasons: It is one of those subs that when I go back and read it I am surprised that I am the one that wrote it, and if its going into an epub, it needs a nice illustration. -

#5Scras, are you happy with the artist taking the submission and running with his version or do you haven anything to add?
Part of the deal with him is that he does a 75% sketch, gives us a look for any final detail changes (not reworks) and then he runs with it from there. So that we maximize his time in painting and we get shiny.
So, if you want to be more specific, put an appearance blurp in the submission to solidify any thoughts on it.
Will be fun! -

I am fine with letting the artist have a free rein. I would assume/hope that he will read the sub and find some inspiration within it.
