Citadel Stats
#1Yes, I guess I am stalling.
Just took a look at the forum stats and we are wicked high compared to last year. 2695020 vs 1740038 and counting!
That prompted me to check out google analytics for a better take on it, did a comparison between last year and this and here are the results.
Visits
25.40%
126,212 vs 100,649
Unique Visitors
22.00%
69,631 vs 57,074
Pageviews
70.27%
542,879 vs 318,842
Pages / Visit
35.78%
4.30 vs 3.17
Avg. Visit Duration
63.13%
00:07:04 vs 00:04:20
Bounce Rate
-0.95%
59.36% vs 59.93%
% New Visits
-2.42%
54.78% vs 56.14%
So we kicked ass this year. And with all the new toys, next year will be another record! -

#2Boohyaaaah!
We are gonna make this baby go sky high! -
Re: Citadel Stats
#3Now if we could get people to vote and comment!!! :P

Re: Citadel Stats
#4Comments will come when I put a 5 sub max browse unless you put in a comment in one of the ones you already viewed. Otherwise pink unicorns will slowly take over your view. -

Re: Citadel Stats
#6And this is interesting too.
As far as number of visits per visitor. So the first one is translated as 69k people only visited 1 time but during that one visit those 69k had 136k page views
1 visit - 69,222 with 136,465 page views
2 visits - 7,445 with 27,893 page views
and it peters down till it at the least
8 visits - 676 with 4,401
then it starts increasing again with stats from
9-14 visits, 2.9k
15-25 visits, 3.1k
26-50 visits, 4.3k
51-100 visits, 5.2k
101-200 visits, 6k
201+ visits by each of the 19,869 unique visitors. That is a ton of BH that visit us over and over again!!
So we have a total 41k+ visitors that visit us over 9 times each. With the almost 20k visiting over 200 times each. HOLY SHIT. We need to convert!!
That is A LOT of return visitors. How do we get them to register and join us?!?!
(oh, and those 20k repeat visitors had 206k page views.) -
Re: Citadel Stats
#7That is A LOT of return visitors. How do we get them to register and join us?!?!
How about a recruitment drive, starting with a pop-up that pops up for any BH visitor, regardless of what page they're viewing...
JOIN! JOIN! You know you want to, We know we want you! Join while its still freeeeeee!
Or something of that ilk. -
Re: Citadel Stats
#8I tend to flee and grumble if solicited. Something new would need to be offered...
-
Re: Citadel Stats
#9So, it seems we need 9-14 visits to hook em.
-
Re: Citadel Stats
#10Slightly less solicitous then...
"Join before 2014, and get one FREE ebook! Limited time offer!"
"Join the ranks of the Strolenati, and untold benefits will be yours!" (list benefits)
"We are looking for bright, young minds, to help us take over the world. Do you have what it takes?"
And so on... :P -
Re: Citadel Stats
#11I was thinking animated rainbow gifs to start. Have them flash to draw attention....but your idea works too.
Well, I see where my focus is going to continue on the redesign. That landing page needs to be good and I see a real need for A/B testing with that many return visitors!
I may create a temp landing page with the old design and incorporate some of what I have on the new and see how it plays out. That I could do somewhat quickly and see what it does.
Anyway, at least I know I need to do something!

Re: Citadel Stats
#12I think the generators and eBook will help with some conversions, if we specifically point out to people that THEIR content could be included.
"New here? Check out our new eBook, fresh off the digital press! The content is straight from our users!"
"Like the generators? If you register, you can make some of your own!" -
Re: Citadel Stats
#13Can maybe be a revolving set of pop-ups. Including insidious ones that are difficult to ignore.
"Hey, there. Yes, you. One of our members is looking for ideas for a new, cliche-free magical sword. Have any you could share with us?"
"Hi there. so we currently have *this* Quest going. Anything from your campaign, you can share? Prizes for the winners!"
and more basic ones...
"It only takes but a moment to register, and let the author you're currently reading know your thoughts."
"Think you could do better? You probably can! Join and share your awesome ideas"
(oops, or what CM said.)

Re: Citadel Stats
#14Thats a good one. Might be too big brother to see what subs the visitor shows interest in and then tailor the hook accordingly.
-
Re: Citadel Stats
#15All the more reason to ditch categories and go with pure tags. Then we can look at what tags are being viewed by a user and tailor our messages based on that. :D
Also, I know the generators will bring in people, because the people I've discussed it with all love the idea. -
Re: Citadel Stats
#16Yes - ditch categories but make it mandatory to select at least 1 freetext to add a sub.
-
Re: Citadel Stats
#17About those stats... Have you taken this into account? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25346235 -
Re: Citadel Stats
#18I don't take anything into account!
It is google analytics numbers so...if the greatest privacy destroyer of all time who knows my innermost secret and amazon wish list and who makes his fortune off the backs of those that use their tools can't get it close to right....then all hope is lost.
But even it was only 10% of that number, changes nothing.
If they are bots, we can work towards getting more spammer accounts. Bots write most news articles now a days anyway, who says bots couldn't make good NPCs?
Look to the blue sky. There is always good to see in things. -
Re: Citadel Stats
#19I meant to ask. What does categories vs tags have to do with visitors?
Don't answer here, go dig up that old thread. I will get to that point soon. :)
