Ebook Brainstorm
#1Taken from Johnn's mailing list when we think about the next ebooks....
Got to thinking last night, are you stuck on what product you could create for the Bootcamp?
Maybe you're worried about not having enough time. (The Bootcamp is based on making a short product in about 30-45 minutes a day.)
Or maybe you think small products are not worthwhile. (I found over 10 short products on the DTRPG Best Sellers Top 100 list just now.)
But I'm mostly worried you have writer's block on product concepts.
So I wrote a bunch. Stuff I would find quite useful.
For adventure writers:
* 5 Room Dungeons - Jungle Edition
* 7 One Page Encounters for Fantasy Cities
* 25 Interesting Things That Happen on the Way to the Dungeon
* A Book Of Blank Barrow Maps (To print and flesh out)
* "Firefly" Type Spaceship Design (Give me a full story and layout for a PC-operated ship)
* A haunted mansion
For world builders:
* 10 Fantasy Towns (1 page overview of each)
* Golarion Name Guide (100 male and female names for every culture)
* Names For Intelligent Monsters (100 names for ogres, naga, trolls, goblins, etc.)
* Players's Guide to [World Name]
* 5 Crazy World Events (With details on how to run them)
* A complete magic item shop (With security, inventory and upcoming acquisitions)
* Classic Race Facelift (Give me clever variants for my jaded players)
For systems creators:
* A lite version of your game I can play in one night
* Con In A Box (How to run your game successfully at cons)
* Fumbles (With conversion guide to another popular system)
* 10 Nasty Spells (With conversion guide to another popular system)
* Equipment Lists With Flavor (Vehicles, guns, adventuring gear....)
For fans of crunch (and your OGL system of choice):
* A Legendary Shield (An item that grows with my PC paladin, with history and cool quirks)
* Drag and Drop NPCs (I love NPC books and resources)
* 25 Chaos Effects
* A Roleplayer's Character Sheet & Journal
* 19 Getaway Vehicles (And their tricks)
* Epic Campaign Villain

Re: Ebook Brainstorm
#2
BTW:
Looking at the Plots(2 - Crawlers of the Dark (7k words, 25 pages) and Post Mortem, Darkly (2.5, 5 pages + several linked subs) , that got into my list, these are generally big and detailed enough to warrant elaboration and production into their own publication. PMD has a lot of linked content, and that would also make sense to deal with specifically. Maps, additional art,etc.
So, Strolen Adventures Series could be added to the list of potential PDfs.
I'll set those two aside and carry on with the other stuff.
