As Ardhalas landed, Brin pointed in the way that the Seneschal appeared to have come. "We discuss while we hunt.  I would prefer that the false priest not reach his master - It would be difficult to slay them both at once. Thorgir, if you would?" The dark human woman smiled almost maliciously as she asked the barbarian to lead the way, for she was anticipating the slaughter...

A tense showdown averted with the new arrival, the companions proceeded out of the meat larder and through the passage Ardhalas had opened earlier...

Though Brin had asked the barbarian to lead, Somnak was already moving, the half-orc's bloodlust still(!) percolating inside.

Ardhalas followed cautiously, relating tales of Eye Tyrants and their destruction of the Blue Glass city as he walked, attempting to educate these hunters. That these three were some sort of "savages", to Ardhalas there was little doubt. But here he was. When in Ro-Ahm...he remembered an old saying from his youth.

Ardhalas suddenly whirled around on instinct alone, just in time to see two, what were they, elves(?!) enter the chamber silently. One had a gleam in his eye, the other...a female, a rather attractive one, though primitive looking to a True Elf of the First Empire. A scimitar of bone in each hand, and a rather thick python draped around her neck, completed her look. Her companion had no weapons, but rather an over-developed forehead.

When Thorgir made a vulgar sound, that somehow seemed to combine... "Elves!", "Feck!", "Finally", "About Time", and "@!#$" into one guttural syllable, Ardhalas relaxed a bit. It seemed there were more of these Egg Hunters about.

    ...

The madman followed them meekly, bloodied and disheveled. He was too scared to go off alone, even with the urging Brin had given him to escape the Pyramid.

    ...

The doorway opened into another sterile hallway then began to ascend sharply. As they made their way, they could hear muffled sounds somewhere behind them. They were somewhere near the center of the pyramid, but well below its capstone.

Brin, Somnak, Thorgir all expected some sort of physical confrontation (and bloodshed) at any moment. After all, it had been a whole half hour since they were last attacked by the Bamboo Jumble, and it was nigh time. (:P)

But no. Silence greeted them and more white walls.

The hallway straightened once more, and it seemed they were on a new “level” of pyramid, having taken the long route, in lieu of the moving chambers.

They came to yet another purple knob on the wall and pushed it in, revealing yet another doorway and yet another hall.

    This was utterly maddening.

Along this hallway however to their left they could make out what looked like three chambers with actual doors, sleek metallic ones, thick and impregnable-looking. Each door had a small slit at eye level, allowing one to see inside. Inside however was utter darkness, so nothing could actually be seen.

Along the wall beside the three chambers was something etched in the stone in a seemingly indecipherable language, some sort of message or information imparted. All three of the doors, had a ubiquitous purple crystal-button in the wall next to it.

To their right, they could make out a quick dead-end and another doorway blocking passage, a hatch-like circular door, also metallic, and sealed tightly into the stone. This door reminded Thorgir of round Halfling doors, he had once seen in his youth. He remembered fondly when he had once ripped one off its hinges on a bet with a Stout.

There was another message scrawled into the white stone above this round door as well.

The addled villager stayed silent, his eyes darting around, fixating first on the three doorways, then the fourth. He seemed less nervous and more anxious for some reason. "I will hide here" he offers meekly.

    Thorgir ignored the madman.

"You elves have dark-seeing eyes, right? See anything?" he gestured towards the slits.

He looked on the floor for blood, though if that creature had bled this far, he'd be near dry.

  4. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

    #284
(ooc: no blood here, though the madman insists that the Seneschal came this way, if prodded.)
  5. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

    #285
As Brin stood for a moment, and considered the doors, her blood-red eyes narrowed, and she stared at them. She frowned, then placing her hand next to one of the three doors, not yet on the purple stone.  "... This one is... inferior in worksmanship to the others. An addition, I think. Can anyone read these cursed things?"
  6. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

    #286
(ooc: Brin made successful perception check on the three doors ^  while Thorgir failed his 'open doors' roll, to pry the round door from the wall.)

As she studies the strange "door", it makes a sudden sound *GLORP GLOP BLOORRRP*

...and instantly numerous jelly-like tendrils erupted from the very door, which now appeared as some huge, malleable goo; the door itself, purple-knob and even plaque(!) all now seemed to be a single quivering mass, just between opaque and translucent. How patient this creature must have been, to lair here, camouflaged to resemble the two doors next to it, unmoving, all this time! But now at last, dinner had arrived.

The amorphous creature lashes out at Brin and attempts to pull her inside its own gooey flesh.

(ooc: The gelatinous creature disguised as a door attacks, hits, and does 7 points of damage to Brin. Brin needs to save vs paralyzation, or be, you guessed it, paralyzed for 5-20 rounds!! If paralyzed Brin takes 2-8 points of damage/round automatically.)

    Lumori

The opening of doors distracted Lumori from contemplating the various ways his companions entrails could be used to decorate the interior of the compartment. He shelved the thought for now, making a note to remember the particularly creative one involving a triple-spiral. That one held some promise, but the room beyond appeared more interesting for the moment.

He waved the two guards forward and began to make his way into the chamber, slowly and carefully edging his way from statue to statue, listening for anything that might break the unnatural silence.

Reacting with blinding speed, removing several arrows from the quiver at once, the Haulor trained an arrow at the amorphous door-thing, and let it fly. Moments after, another arrow left his fingers.

The Elf circled sideways, getting the best shot as well as staying out of the way.

ooc: initiative (do we roll that?)(d10): 2, dex +3
    thaco base: 19 - 5 (dex bpnus, elf bonus, specialization bonus) =14 THAC0. roll 1=12 (hits AC2), roll 2=11 (hits AC3)
Ardhalas attacks twice per round with the bow.
    Eventual damage: 2+1, 4+1

    (05:27:00) Minion: Siren_no_Orakio rolls 1d20 and gets 14. Savings throw made~!

Brin let out a hideous curse, blueing the air before her as she flailed wildly at the beast, leaping backwards as soon as she did so. It burned!

(06:17:23) Minion: Siren_no_Orakio rolls 1d20 and gets 7. Not gonna bother with a damage roll, I doubt it has an AC of 10ish.
  10. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

Thorgir charged in, thankful for something, however fucked up, to carve into.  He slashed at the thing, attempting to shear off one of the thing's pseudopods with a long, cutting stroke..

(09:13:00) Minion: valadaar rolls 1d20 and gets 9.
    So, 14 (str,sharpness) with thac0 17, so AC 3.  Should be a hit.
(09:13:44) Minion: valadaar rolls 1d8 and gets 3.

    Total 9 hp.

Almost shouting in surprise, Melior quickly recovered himself. He must look brave to Meleana, after all. He was about to, once more, cast a hail of magic missiles at this latest threat, before he thought better of it. This seemed almost liquid. Perhaps fire might be the better choice?

He calmly and, in his honest opinion, like a bad**, cast Flaming Sphere, and called the weapon into being above the... Goo-thing's head. Noticing the creature's attempt at pulling Brin within itself, Melior directed the sphere to attempt to push its way inside the monster's own body.

    damage: (11:05:58) Minion: caesar193 rolls 2d4 and gets 3,4. So 7 points.

The description of the spell says that it can't push aside heavy stuff, so it might not be able to enter the monster's flesh. If it can't, then Melior will simply keep it rolling around on the back half of the thing so his buddies don't get hurt (but who cares if they do get hurt from friendly fire? Not Melior). Also, it lasts a round per level, so for the rest of the combat or the sphere's duration, Melior will keep the sphere rolling around on/within the monster, doing 2d4 damage each round.
  12. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

(ooc: no, Brin didn't hit, but every else did. And did enough damage to kill it. It only had 4 HD. Brin takes 1 pt of damage from Melior's rolling ball of flame due to proximity. Two doors, and a round door remain unmolested.)

Somehow Brin managed to elude the paralyzing effects of the Stunjelly's slime, and then the counter-assault began in earnest...

Ardhalas' shafts pierced deeply into the goop, Thorgir's sword sliced through a tendril to send it flying down the corridor, and Melior's rolling ball of fire made the jelly squeal, and begin to melt, until all that remained of the creature was a puddle of slime on the floor. As the Stunjelly withered away to nothing, an object could be seen on the floor, something the creature could not digest apparently. A electrum half-helm, with wings-motif and a prominent nasal bar.

    Silence again.

The bloodied villager had a queer look on his face.
  13. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

    #293
Ardhalas walked to the helmet and picked it up, checking the arrows in the process, and making sure the ball of fire didn't burn him.

Lifting the helmet up, he studied it with keen eyes.

"I can test this for magic, if you want to"

Without waiting for a reply, the grey cloaked elf began chanting in the old tongue of the elves.

"Ikauro, Ikauro, how the seasons of the Empire ebb and flow, Father of all Elves, grant me your wisdom"

OOC: Ardhalas scans the helmet for magic, but also takes notes of the glow of magic on other items in the vicinity and carried by the others. He has closed his own cloak so his hauberk doesn't gleam.

Somnak shuddered at the deceptive beast; but its demise was swift, so he wasted no time. "Does anyone have some flint?"
Brin offered the orc her fire making tools, and Somnak fished in his bag for some time, until he pulled out a ball of string. Working quickly, he pulled out two lengths, bundling each into a ball suitable for kindling. He then struck the flint with steel, the sparks catching on the string, and - bouncing the small balls of flame tenderly in his hands - pushed each through the small slits of darkness in each door. The fire was weak, but provided adequate illumination, "Everyone take a look in before the flame dies - see what you see. Many eyes are better than one keen set!"

small stringballs of fire fed through the slits: trying to see inside before risking opening them. Sorry about short, non descriptive posts! Very busy day here :(

It was with no ceremony at all that Brin drew up the phlem from her throat, and spat into what remained of the jelly. Scowling, she slowly poured water over the wounds, wincing in pain as she did so - and cursing once more. The Jelly's toxins had eaten too deeply for such simple treatment, and been seared in by the fires.

She closed the circle of her hands about the symbol that hung from her chest, and the violet fire that had touched Thorgir's wounds enveloped her, her expression twisting into a fury fit for an enraged barbarian. The fury swept through her, and made her whole once more, and it was clear upon her face that in some way, she enjoyed it, as one might a fine wine. The purity of purpose, her need to destroy the master of this place filled her in a way that no liquor or lover, no matter how potent, ever could. And then, the magic began to fade from her, leaving the divine fury to seep from her body, another little piece of the divine rage within her expended for the day.

(17:29:07) Siren_no_Orakio: Healing Check: 13 or under to succeed:
    (17:29:10) Minion: Siren_no_Orakio rolls 1d20 and gets 17.
    Cure light wounds:
    (17:31:48) Minion: Siren_no_Orakio rolls 1d8 and gets 8.

Meleana had been very surprised to see yet another elf, though not a very attractive one. He looked like he had been through hell and back, with some leeway given on the "back" part. Still, it was nice to see another of her kind. She tried engaging him in some small talk after the quick introduction as they were walking, her old elven dialect seemed perfectly in tune with Ardhalas's elven, which was strange, as Melior's elven seemed very different.

< "Verily thou'st art saying that thee hail from the first empire?" >

She barely batted an eye-lid as he lifted his bow and fired, Melior cast a spell and several things happened at once. She gave a look of surprise as a jelly puddle formed on the floor. She shrugged, disinterested and continued.

< "Mine ancestors lost the lore of where'st they hailed over the course of their long exile, pray tell  whil'st thou humour me and regale me with tales of yonder homeland?" >

She smiled and hugged her pet boa, giving Ardhalas her full attention, poor Melior forgotten at the moment.

Arching an eyebrow as he studied the magical energies, Ardhalas replied to the strange elvish girl.

"... Girl... Meleana... Was that your name? Yes, I arrived here from Old Althyras a couple of days ago. You see, I loved the Crown Princess of Althyras, even before, when she was but the Girl of the Meadow, and for that I was sentenced to eternal exile. You see, when royal loins burst with desire, commoners' love have to step aside. It was not so easy for me... Some days ago, I am not sure of how many, the High Priest of the Allfather opened a magical portal on Griffon Square. There I was led in chains before an infuriated mob, and this here mark was branded unto my face"

Ardhalas traced the outlines of the X with his fingers.

"Then I was sent through the portal, to serve my sentence, to wither and to die, and in the end to fully understand the extent of my exile."

Ardhalas sighed and slowly drew his breath.

"There are several things I do not understand. Why do you even parlay with me? It is custom for bearers of the mark of treason to be shunned, spoken to and aided by no elf, even the closest of kin."

Ardhalas grimaced as he twisted thumbs and spidery fingers, weaving a pattern around the helmet, but also discreetly tracing Meleana and the others assembled in the corridor.

"... And... What happened to you? Your eyes... I have never seen their like. And that thing around your neck, I heard of them once, from a traveler from Southern Myrkolar. Do they not strangle and devour their prey? Are not you potential prey?"

    Finishing his spell, he paused.

"I can identify this helmet. It is most definitely magical! I think we should draw straws or cast dice for it, and the winner gets it. Any of you have dice?"

Walking softly to the etchings on the wall, Ardhalas touched them with his fingers.

"My magic reading also told me that this inscription is in the dialect of magic. I can read that too, but I need to rest and meditate in order to do both these things."

Thorgir shrugged.  The jelly-thing had not really spent any of his anger, and it was all he could do not to drop kick the helmet out of the elf's hands.
Instead he began to pace the room like a caged tiger.

His mood was somewhat mollified at the short honeymoon Melior had with the elf-princess.

"This here helmet seems to be a contraption made for enlightenment and understanding, enabling us to read all languages, even magical ones"

Ardhalas seemed quite content with himself. He put the helmet on the head and went over to read the writing on the wall.

"Let us put the matter of ownership aside for now, and see what this here says..."

OOC: Reads the words on the wall

Moments earlier, Somnak's fire-light trick had allowed a few to see directly into to dark slits of the twin metal doors...

The first appeared as a 20x20 square chamber. Four metallic tentacles of some sort were attached to the walls, lying dormant on the floor, meeting in the center. Some sort of helmet-like contraption hung on a wire from the ceiling.

The glimpse into the second door showed that it was of the same size as the other, but empty of objects of any kind. A few tubes (nozzles?) may have been sticking out of the walls.

    Somnak's light went out.

Ardhalas read the plaques out loud, then turned to his newfound associates.

"You people decide. Since I am the newcomer, I will defer to your good judgment".

He nonchalantly took off his helmet and held it in both hands.

"This here is an useful item, that all the members of this band of mighty warriors could benefit from. I suggest we keep it as an item we all share"

    The Twelfth Labour of Kismet

She stalked the hallways. Her latest mission had been to find the Eye-of-the-Mountain on some jungle-strewn island lost amidst the Shattered Archipelago. It was a gem, she was told, the size of a human heart, and she didn't question the order. The King was the king, and she, the Lumina. She would complete this final task.

Reaching the "Mountain" was easy. Finding the gem was most difficult.

She had entered the pyramid, and had been lost within its maddening hallways and chambers, ever since. Time was no longer relevant. Only finding the gem, and returning to Brandburg.

Her latest corridor took her inside a vast hall of statues. A thousand or more, of every shape and size, all carved from the same, gray rock. Before her, lay a silent, stone forest.

    ---

    Lumori hesitated.

Movement amidst the stillness of the statues.

"Oh!" mouthed Myhak, his eyes popped open in fear, while Yurhak, idiot that he was, simply hurled his spear with all his might at the creature approaching them!

Lumori could make out two things. It was humanoid and it was female. Beyond that, he was stumped. The creature sported a thrice-splayed tail. Her hair, or more aptly mane, was a fiery red. Two horn-like braids, danced before her, as she walked. Both braids, covered with dozens of unblinking eyes!

    What was she?

(ooc: Yurhak misses Kismet. Initiative if "its on", otherwise parlay if you choose to parlay. :P)

"I don't much like the looks of either of these two rooms." The half Orc mumbled, before walking down the hall to the final, round door. He neared this final door cautiously, wary of traps or another of those door-beasts! To the villager that accompanied them he asked, "You act odd, islander. Do you know something we do not? 'ware you don't lie, now! The watching egg is not the only one that you should hear being eaten by..." Somnak glared at the man, licking his fangs hungrily.

Intimidate the villager for information, and then if what he says doesn't ring any alarm bells and the door seems safe, Somnak will open it. If Somnak believes the villager is holding back, he will attempt to force the villager to open the door instead (by booting the man straight into it.)
  25. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

    #305
(ooc: intimidate roll failed by Somnak. Bam!)

"I--I-know nothing", the villager mumbled his eyes bulging in fear.

This did not suit the half-orc. Somnak grabbed the round door with both muscled hands, and ripped it free of the stone with a mighty grunt! (ooc: successful str 'open doors' roll)

He then, without preamble, grabbed the bloodied, harried villager, and tossed him through the opening! The villager moaned as he landed several feet down the new passage.

"No! I will remain here, and go no further!" the half-dead man cried, and began crawling back, after he unceremoniously landed on his arse with a thud.

Ahead, they could see a wide white-stoned hallway...shocker.
  26. Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]

The winding passages of man's greed and twisting paths of the sea had given way to the contorted trails of the jungle, only to spew her forth into the convoluted passages of the pyramid.
All along the journey, she had not relinquished the crest of the burning mountain upon her chest, had kept the armor meticulously oiled in the dampness of these damnable reaches, kept the phoenix-wing shoulder pads of the plate armor resplendent, not to bring any shame on Brandburg.

Kismet licked her lips - finally, some foul minions of the hidden master of this place, to question to straighten her path. Wrath and resolve were smoldering within her, forged into a searing composite that would see her through the trials, to see her worthy.

How long had it been since the dawn of this incessant probation? All the roads had blurred into one.
But what an endeavour it was!
The bandits of Bjornholm were strung upon trees, their bodies lending their rancid stench to the breeze and their entrails to ravens.
The demon boar of Dannir was but a stew, far less demonic.
The Unwalked Path in the depths of Brandburg was now but a path, devoid of danger and yielding valuable legacy of kings of yore to the king of today.
The Lying Witch of Lundal was done with her witchery and deceit, her tongue nailed to her door.
The traitorous chancellor Grundtal demoted - from his bastion of rebellion, to the cliffs so far below, his daughter thrown to mercenaries to end his line.
The Life-Water of the Serpent-Sisters now bestowed strength and longevity upon a far worthier recipient, the noble prince Torsten, his eyes even more radiant with its energy, his mighty arms infused with blessed power.
The lost Locket of the Covenant was returned to signify the promise made to Erkenbrand, or so the lore, while the thieves' cries at the pyre signified their promise to steal never more.
She had held Lost Pass Keep against orcish hordes with a hundred men, until its well-deserved name was Greenblood Hold. What a battle!
The Rotten Moor was fertile fields, the cultist coven cloven in twine one cultist swine at a time, and the black heart spewing forth corrupted waters doused with waters divine.
The dragon of Dunmere was found to be but a lizard overgrown, made more terrible by a greedy gnome and his tricks of legerdemain. Yet what is to do with dragons - they must be slain, whether fake or true? She brought back two heads, cleanly severed, although only one was due.
She even found Manzark the Blackened, in his hold of sorcerous ice. Instead of her turned to a frog, she led him to the army's banner, once more with the crown reconciled. Oh, she hoped that would suffice.

Shield raised, the authority of Brandburg clearly emblazoned across, and her flamberge raised and radiant with power, she felt her inner light shine forth as she charged. "Suffer my wrath, witless minions, or show me the path to the master of this place!"
Initiative 12, if you roll higher, feel free to talk before the fool who threw the spear gets two educational sword strikes, rolled 16 and 17 to hit, 28 damage total.

"... And... What happened to you? Your eyes... I have never seen their like. And that thing around your neck, I heard of them once, from a traveler from Southern Myrkolar. Do they not strangle and devour their prey? Are not you potential prey?"

There were a lot of new words in his speech, things she could almost make out from memory but only quite. Meleana did her best to puzzle the pieces together.

< "I does't not comprehend the words, crown princess or royal. Art these thine appointed leaders? They seem awfully selfish, why does not thine people dispose of them and select new ones? I be not aware the mark indicated exile, but if those be thine only transgressions then I shan't honour the mark." >

    She looked surprised.

< "Nothing hath befallen me, mine eyes art the same as my sister's and mine mother's. Oh, Be'Loa? She be a pet, handfed and raised by mine own hands, she poses no danger to me." >

The small talk continued, with a little back and forth regarding the differences of Island life versus that of the empire. It was all very involving, and Meleana forgot almost all about her surroundings and her troubles for a while.

Somnak then, without preamble, grabbed the bloodied, harried villager, and tossed him through the opening! The villager moaned as he landed several feet down the new passage.

Because of all the talking, Meleana to her great annoyance hadn't even registered the poor villager before now. He wasn't anyone she knew personnally, but this kind of behaviour could not stand! She quickly stepped up, drew her bone scimitars and trained their points against the half-orc's neck. She would have to resort to common now.

"What you do, pig-man?! Not harm! He, me same, from village! You harm, me harm you, death!"

She tensed her arms, ready to push them through his skin, severing his jugular if need be. Her violet eyes shone as steel. There was nothing soft about her now.

Somnak glared angrily at the threat from the snake-wearing elven woman. He dismissed it with a snort and a wave of his hand at the villager, "Bah, he is fine, you see?" the man had cowered in the hall, beaten but alive and refusing to more further. "The man chose his path when he decided to come with us instead of going back to the village, even though he was told to return! And yet he fails time again to be of use! If you don't want to see him hurt, convince him to GO. HOME." With that, Somnak nudged past the scimitars and stepped over the poor villager, intent on moving on through the doorway.

Somnak is moving on. If Meleana attacks, so be it; he will fight back.

Not waiting for the tension to build up again, Ardhalas edged between Somnak and Meleana, and followed a few footsteps behind the half-orc as he made his way to the door.
He quietly put the helmet in his backpack as he walked, and step for step he gradually fell further behind Somnak, until the brutish warrior was three meters in front of him.

The first Tarkhala finds the water-hole, but the second survives the lions and gets the water as well.

And thus the Imperial Elf fell into thoughts, letting his gaze routinely look for oddities and traps as he did so.

Thorgir also followed in line, putting more bodies between the half orc and the elf.

Elves, rather brittle lot it seemed.

If fighting does break out, Thorgir sides with the half orc.

Meleana narrowed her eyes, but she did sheath her scimitars again, her point being made. She turned to Melior.

< "Your friends are louts. No better than the quallan. You need to control that pig-man better, aren't you their leader?" >
She said accusingly, Melior being one of few she could vent too. It was frustrating not being able to speak with these strange people, she would have to work harder on learning common, there was no helping it.

She then helped the old man up on his feet and sternly but gently told him to go home.
< "There may still be people waiting for your return in the village. I know not your name but surely you know who I am? So you know you can trust me, we'll find and help the rest. Follow the corridors, on your right will be a door, speak the word yinsoso and it will open. Now, go!" >

    Melior responded.

    Melior paused, and sighed.

This is the biggest compliment you guys are getting out of Melior. Just so you know how high a praise he just gave you.

The old man nods a few times, at her words, "Yes, Yinsoso, yes, thank you. Yes, I know you of course....you are Meleana" he mutters as she helps him up.

The villager waits for them to get down the hallway a bit, even waves to Meleana when she turns to see if he is indeed leaving, then suddenly, the villager spins around and bolts rather quickly toward one of the metallic doors. He slams the purple button beside it, runs inside, and shuts the door with a loud thud!

He had entered the room marked, "Rejuvenation Room"

A few dozen feet down the new hallway, Somnak turned to watch this happen, and bared his fangs, "I knew it!" he snarled. He was not exactly sure what he "knew", but his suspicions about the villager were now seemingly confirmed!

Somnak bared his fangs in a menacing growl. "I knew it", he snarled, droplets of spit raining over Ardhalas ruined features as the half-orc snarled in anger.
Whirling about, Somnak shoved his way forcefully past Ardhalas, walking with determined steps towards the door to the rejuvenation chamber.

Ardhalas followed in the half-orc's footsteps, noticing the goat-skin drum dangling madly on the brute's left hip.

Stopping by the door, Somnak motioned for Thorgir to help him tear it down, and cautious by nature, Ardhalas stepped to the side, readying his bow and leaning towards the wall, letting the cloak work it's elven magic.

Speaking fluently in Azul Orcish, Ardhalas addressed Somnak, many of the words sounding antiquated and weird to the half-orc

[Deep, guttural sounding Azul-Orcish]: "Frugrakth Azul, I need big boom Spurgtak. It be nurgbakh to have Spurgtak like back in the Siskaaaahylor"

OOC: It was ok for Shadow that I wrote him into my sub, so I guess you can roll for force door opens or something on their behalf, Muro? Also, Ardhalas is cautious by nature. He has taken up a defensive pose close to the wall. He will use the cloaks chameleon nature to make him a less attractive target if something comes out, even though it was merely a villager going in. He is - that - careful.

Wordlessly, Thorgir grabbed the door and added it to the Half-orcs.

Somnak roared in fury - he had been duped! And that damned elfish woman had defended this 'villager!' He had half a mind to tear her throat out! Instead, he moved to the door, screaming, "THORGIR!" and indicating to the other side. With the aid of his barbaric companion, the two flexed and wrenched the door, bending the iron itself to their own will! In his head, the spirits were screaming in rage, drumming at his skull to be released in the fury of violence.

The newcomer elf spoke something to Somnak, to his surprise - and in a dialect of orcish no less! But it was a confused jumble of words which Somnak struggled to understand. In the more current, refined orcish tongue, he replied: "MoarlTokh Ru'khal mok har tu'talsk imbaleskh, Rulk'khan. Ju'ulkesh mok knowen! Mok tualkh suaarsh?"

"Your tongue is tied with the knot of ages, Elf-kin. Perhaps you need to re-educate yourself! You wanted big sound?"

With one last wrench, the door crumbled asunder, and the chamber was revealed.
Inside, the villager was no more - the Seneschal stood there instead! Hooked to the chamber by the inorganic tentacles, the cyclops appeared to be under barrage by an unseen force; his injuries were being healed! As the door fell, the Seneschal opened his eyes in shock and began hurriedly chanting in a mystical language!

"By the spirits, you will not escape this time! Someone unhook him from this... thing!" Somnak had nothing more to say. With a howl of fury which rivaled the gibbering voices in his head, he reached into his bag and pulled forth an iron spike! A vicious grin of bloodlust plastered on his face, Somnak charged.

Iron Spike Eye Stab attack! Hiyah!

(ooc: Ardhalas hits with both arrows, for 5 points of damage total. Somnak misses, Thorgir misses. Brin, Melior & Meleana are up, then cyclops!)

The Seneschal's eye opened in shock! They ripped a steel door?

Before he could react, twin steel shafts pierced his torso, and he grunted in pain. Ardhalas swift firing was a perfected skill. The cyclops cannot even see where the arrows came from, before they sink into his flesh.

Then Somnak charged with his spike aloft, fury raging inside the half-orc. But as he leapt toward the cyclops, the creature flailed and swung his tentacled arms and legs, and Thorgir tripped, missing, and crashing into the tubes instead. A second later a charging Thorgir severed one of the tubes leading from the Senescahl's legs, and a hiss of gas, erupted inside the chamber.

The Seneschal began to chant, with a mad fury burning in his single, rheumy eye as well now...

Enraged fully now, Brin roared in rage, and then acted, even as the arrows flew. The words of the prayer flowed from her lips swiftly, and once more, the sphere of silence flowed forth, centered not upon herself this time, nor upon the false priest, but this time, upon Thorgir. Hopefully, in time to prevent the thing from using magic to fool them all once more...

Melior entered the room on the heels of his companions, though stuck to the edges. No sense in getting in melee range. He eyed the Seneschal's set up, and then eyed the cyclops himself. Especially the spell being cast. Whatever it was, Melior was sure a hail of magic missiles would be beneficial.

But in the meantime, Melior examined the gas that Thorgir had oh-so-foolishly released. It no doubt had something to do with Rejuvenation, but was it a hazardous power supply of some sort?

Spellcrafting the Cyclops' spell, as well as room's set up. Also magic missile damage: (21:59:36) Minion: caesar193 rolls 2d4 and gets 2,3. So 7 damage.

    Meanwhile not far away

His creatures felt it before Bob did, but he too felt the change in atmosphere.

There was a draft in fact. Someone or something had opened one of the hatches! Bob pondered this, petting his favorite pregnant one.

    Then he began to mobilize.
