Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#81Lowering his mace, Rasmus called upon the force of Khaum to smite the Qullan from afar.
"Khaum take you!" he called out, sending a hammer-shaped force at his foe. The Qullan dodged out of the way.

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#82It was asleep! The realization shot through Brin like a lightning bolt, as she listened to the breathing. Quietly, quietly she called the thief's hand back to her, sending it off to tie the rope once more, watching the cave longer. The chance of her making it out without waking the thing up was low, she knew. But if she could slip past, all the better. If not... Well, she would just have to have a word of choice with it. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#83Confusion Roll: 15. I shall assume that I'm confused, as low rolls seem better (I'll change this of O'm wrong), so my type of confusion shall be: 4.
Edit: Apparently, I saved. Thus, Melior is back to being awesome.
Melior smiled as the qullan missed him, and laughed. Oh, how stupid the beast was. Still, they were begining to peeve Melior. Those two magic missiles should have at least fazed the brute. Well, time to resort to an age-old saying. When in doubt, set something on fire.
He quickly intoned the flaming sphere spells, and mentally directed it to come into being in the Qullan nearest himself's hair, and mentally directed the sphere to roll over the savage's body. Even the loincloth.
4 damage for burns! -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#84Somnak, unintimidated by the approaching foe, hammered on his instrument with a maniacal fervor, the rhythm of the beats accompanying his gutteral chants. The Demon's Dance had him, and there was no way he was going to let it go so soon.
Even in his possessed state, however, Somnak had not lost his presence of mind; he knew he would have to do more than drum before long. Also, he hadn't forgotten that invisible beast - Somnak's eyes glanced over to the river to see if he could spot the other foe.
drumming for another round! -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#85Attack Roll: (20:33:00) Minion: Chaosmark rolls 1d20 and gets 20.
Damage: (20:35:32) Minion: Chaosmark rolls 2d4 and gets 3,3. Backstab x2, Critical x2, 6*4 = 24, +1 from drumming. 25 total.
Save: (20:54:25) Minion: Chaosmark rolls 1d20 and gets 13. +2 from Magic Ring, +1 from drumming. 16 total. Saved!
The Qullan stalked toward the drummer as combat raged among the others. An arm fell to the ground, its owner quickly following. The Qullan kept coming. Spells flew, minds were twisted, and the Qullan kept coming. Like a demon of ages past, Lumori dropped onto the ground behind the painted giant. His descent was flawless, alighting on the ground without any sound to give away his presence to the mark. Viper-quick the blades struck.
Flash.
Hamstrings cut. Victim falls to knees.
Flash.
Trapezius penetrated, unable to maintain grip on weapons.
Flash.
Throat opened, blood sprays.
Flash.
Base of skull penetrated.
Bloodstains covered Lumori's face in whorls of primal fury. Mystic tendrils of confusion reach out to ensnare his mind, but slid off its surface with no effect whatsoever. He kicked the eviscerated corpse away, looking for his next target. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#86More Blood
Thorgir stood motionless, confused. Yet his eyes could still make out the battle around him. For a moment anyway…
The deranged Qullan now sunk his razor-blade directly into Thorgir’s gut, sinking the blade deep, then twisting it and grinning with pleasure; his eyes rolled back in his head like a shark at the point of attack. The Qullan’s body paint shimmered in the heat.
(ooc: Qullan hit Thorgir 18 {+3 for sword and +4 for Thorgir being prone, -1 due to drumbeat}. 9 pts of damage to Thorgir.)
Melior’s face lit up with joy as he watched the Qullan burn. The creature swung its arm to and fro as if fighting back bees. He was hurt no doubt by the fire and the earlier arcane bolts, yet he managed to swing once more at Melior with his sword arm.
(Qullan misses with a 5 roll. Sigh. Your move Melior. No need to save vs confusion yet.)
Somnak drummed. He dared not stop now nor could he if he wanted lost in his Demon Dance and affecting the tide of combat. Well, not completely lost. Noticing that Lumori was descending spider-style from the canopy and was about to stick the Qullan nearing him, Somnak turned toward the river and saw him, the other Qullan. The flour was gone now and he was dripping wet. The possessed-looking humanoid was running directly at Somnak now, thirty feet and closing, sword drawn. Twenty feet…
(Initiative roll since Somnak avoided surprise (!))
Rasmus aimed his spirit-hammer at the back of the Qullan who was gutting Thorgir, and waiting for him to die.
(Hit rolled 16 +1 drumbeat. 5 damage)
Having hit, Rasmus erupted with a prayer to Khaum, screaming it at the top of his lungs, then managing to glance over at the jungle-woman to see if she might have been as impressed with him as he was. (ooc: no save vs confusion necessary)
Lumori did not pause to revel in his kill. Instead he looked for new knife targets. Glancing around quickly, it seemed he had a few options...
Thorgir comes to. With a sword inside him.
(ooc: Qullan initiative roll 8, party initiative roll--i took the liberty---4. You ALL attack/act.)

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#87Somnak stops drumming. Drum effects last for 1 round + 1d4 (rolled a 1) (Maximum rounds are equal to amount of rounds played, so 2 anyway).
Drum effects last 2 rounds
Somnak spotted the water-drenched Qullan charging. It was time to stop drumming. With a final jump he planted his feet firmly in the ground and let his drum fall to the side of his hip. In the same movement he unslung his shortbow and drew back an arrow. A grunt escaped his lips as he let the arrow fly at the creature which was quickly closing in on him.
(15:38:56) Minion: Shadoweagle rolls 1d20 and gets 9 (Unmodded. not sure of my bonuses etc.) +1 to Somnak's attack and -1 to Qullan's Defense from residual drum effect. Not a clue if it hit! :D
If it hit, damage roll: (15:46:31) Minion: Shadoweagle rolls 1d6 and gets 2. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#88Thorgir's head cleared, but slowly.
Init roll 9 - modified to 6 with dex and drumming. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#89This thrice-d***ed brute was still up? Melior sighed. Sometimes in life, burning stuff just doesn't solve a problem completely. He unsheathed his dagger, and was about to charge the Qullan when he realized the stupidity of such a move- the brute might in fact cause him to be confused!
Instead, Melior retreated half a step and threw his dagger directly at the creature's heart. And with a satisfying thunk, it sunk into the beast's chest
Rolled 17, +1 from drums, +1 from Dex, =19, assuming thats a hit, and also assuming a 1d4 for damage, meaning that I dealt...1. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#90Melior tossed his dagger and somehow, miraculously, it sank into the Qullan's painted chest. The creature looked down disbelievingly at the knife sticking out, then glared at Melior and advanced. A second later he collapsed to the ground, on his face. The knife had done him in. (ooc: you did 13 pt of dam against this one already, he had 1 left believe it or not :Thud:)
Thorgir came to and immediately felt more pain, as the Qullan ripped its blade free from Thorgir's torso, causing a waterfall of blood to erupt out of the barbarian, spraying everything nearby. The Qullan grinned and prepared to stick Thorgir again. (ooc: (18:46:16) Minion: Murometz rolls 1d10 and gets 3.(18:46:34) Minion: Murometz rolls 1d20 and gets 20. (18:46:39) Murometz: d**n (18:48:29) Minion: Murometz rolls 2d4 and gets 2,4. Thorgir takes another 11 pts of damage!)
Somnak shot quickly but this time the fates weren't guiding the shaft. The arrow sailed past the hard-charging beast, and into the river. The emboldened Qullan roared then, there was no other way to describe the awful sound which came from his mouth, and leapt high into the air, all eight feet of him, in order to come down blade first on the half-orc.(ooc: Minion: Murometz rolls 1d20 and gets 6.). But the half-orc was no effete elven wizard or half-cracked cleric. Somnak's reflexes were of finer stock that that. Just as the Qullan was about to eviscerate him Somnak lunged to the side rolling, and was on his feet again in moments.
Lumori watched this happen, and was already moving toward the Qullan that had just missed Somnak. (ooc: Lumori's attack).
Rasmus was emboldened. His last attack struck home. Once more, the cleric of Khaum guided his spirit hammer into the back of the Qullan that was currently skewering Thorgir, and once more he hit! (ooc: Minion: Murometz rolls 1d20 and gets 15. +1 for drumming. 4 Damage.)

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#91Thorgir felt his consciousness slipping away, but lashed out once more, perhaps finally, against his enemy. His strike was successful, though weak...
(20:24:53) Minion: valadaar rolls 1d20 and gets 12. Not spectacular, but that will do.
(20:25:39) Minion: valadaar rolls 1d8 and gets 1. Rats. Still 4 hp damage given his strength.
-
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#92Either the Qullan was overconfident, or Rasmus's last strike took its toll, or both. For as he swung once more to end Thorgir's life, the Qullan somehow missed the staggering barbarian. Thorgir side-stepped the fearsome blade at the last possible second (ooc: Minion: Murometz rolls 1d20 and gets 7.), and with some difficulty, raised his axe perhaps for the last time, as blood pumped from his veins, feeding the jungle... -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#93The spell completed, Rasmus watched his spiritual hammer fade away.
Without a thought, he rushed around the Qullan and came up behind Thorgir just as the creature missed him again. Reaching out, he called upon the mercy of Khaum to heal the failing warrior. Light sprung from his hands and some of the blood stopped flowing from the barbarian's wounds. (16:54:53) Minion: MysticMoon rolls 1d8 and gets 8
Confusion took over and the cleric once more rushed away, screams ripped from his throat. (17:03:42) Minion: MysticMoon rolls 1d20 and gets 11. (17:03:55) Minion: MysticMoon rolls 1d6 and gets 5. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#94Lunging at his opponent - Thorgir launched a desperate, obvious attack at the creature - he dodged it easily and prepared to strike. Unfortunately for him he was not watching Thorgir's other hand, and the metal-edged shield struck the Qullan in the face. Teeth flew and the Qullan fell unconscious.
Staggering and coughing blood, Thorgir placed one heavy booted foot on the Quallan's head and pushed until he heard bones break.
Numbers - first attack, -3 for two weapon (-4, modified upward to -3 for dex), +2 for strength. Roll 4 so no dice)
16 die roll, (-1 for 2-weapon, -1 for non proficency (small shield), +2 for strength, thaco 18 = 13 for AC 5, so total 14 +1 (drums)) Long story hit.
1d3 damage, 1 rolled (naturally) +3 dmg for strength. 4 hp. Just enough. whew.

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#95Melior casually approached the beast he had brought down single-handedly and plucked his dagger out of the corpse. He regarded it for a moment, and then turned to see how his companions fared.
As he had been mostly focused on this solitary Qullan, it came as somewhat of a surprise that his companions weren't doing as well as he, especially that... What was his name? Thorlid? Thorgul? It was definately some kind of Thor name. It seemed they needed his help, primitive fools that they were.
The elf decided that the barbarian was the one most needy for arcane assistance. As such, it was to the Qullan stabbing him that the jets of flame from Melior's Burning Hands spell went to burn.
Melior approaches near enough to the Qullan so that trees don't block the flames, but far enough that confusion isn't a issue. Also, the Burning Hands does 3 damage. I try not to hit my buddies with it. Can I fire it off vertically so that Thorgir doesn't have burns as well as missing internal organs? -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#96Eyes filled with tempestuous rage locked onto the river-Qullan and began deciding the best way to paint the forest with its entrails. Lumori ran forward as the painted giant jumped, attempting to time his vicious assault to the moment when the giant landed.
Unfortunately, the fates decided otherwise, and the creature was able to avoid the stabbing jabs and cutting blows from the murderous thief. Mystic tendrils again reached out to his mind, only to be blunted and cast aside. Too fast was the tempest, too loud the roar of fury. He pressed his assault further.
(20:11:30) Minion: Chaosmark rolls 1d20 and gets 11. Missssss!
(20:13:37) Minion: Chaosmark rolls 1d20 and gets 14. 17 total, saved! -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#97Somnak raised himself from the ground and slung his bow on his back. From his right hip he grabbed his axe and raised it ready to block - there was no need, however; Lumori had distracted the encroaching Qullan and though he failed to land a hit, had distracted the creature long enough for Somnak to ready himself. And the Half Orc had not forgotten the ruined corpse that Lumori had made his plaything.
"Mo-ar Tokh Lumori. Your blades dance like Devils-fire!" Somnak yelled over the battle; back in his tribe, an orcs worth was his battle prowess; Lumori had proven himself to Somnak this day. No more was he the coward. That title fell now onto Melior, who hid behind his sorcery too terrified to meet his foe blade to blade!
Somnak swung his axe viciously with both hands - the weapon glided straight past the Qullan's defenses and landed with a sickening *squnch* into it's belly. Almost casually, the Half-Orc placed a boot on the Qullan's side and used it to pull away the axe as though he were tugging it free from a pinching tree trunk. As the axe head came free, so too, did chunks of gore and flesh.
attack: 15. Damage: 9. Also, saved against confusion. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#98Brin
Brin climbed, grunting quietly as she rose above the Cave of Snores. Ghulkar was waiting impatiently by yet another cave mouth, another sixty or so feet above her.
She paused briefly to watch, as an arrow of birds flew by, not far from her, feathers of every color of the rainbow.
Suddenly...
“Mree'kem? Hello? Preveyt? Jajasho? Yetl? Ba’zak?”
She looked down involuntarily and saw an old, naked, bronze-skinned bearded man waving to her from the cave opening she had just passed.
He spoke again, and smiled, showing few teeth. It seemed he was trying a variety of languages as he prattled, before finally deciding on the Common trade-tongue of the Green Sea.
“Yes? Hello! Oh yes! Who are you? Please do not go! I only was how you say---mastur-bating? No, no--- medi-tating. Yes! Quite so! Hello! You are magnificent-looking creature!”

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#99The Qullan had a choice, as it bled from a huge hole in its belly, which foe to attack. It chose of course the one that had wounded it. The beast-sorcerer, he who had used his magic white powder on him earlier. The Qullan bared his black-stained teeth and took a vicious swing at Somnak, slicing the half-orc with a long, deep, red line across the chest, from shoulder-to-shoulder. (ooc: (22:52:13) Minion: Murometz rolls 1d20 and gets 20. Murometz: BAM!!!! Minion: Murometz rolls 2d4 and gets 1,3. Murometz: 4+3+2-1=8 Damage to Somnak. Initiative for Somnak and Lumori. Qullan rolls...7. Crap.) -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#100Somnak snarled with fury, spittle spraying over the Qullan. Sliding around the creature, he swung his axe once more, The Axe sunk firmly in between it's shoulder blades and Somnak stepped back, letting the weapon remain in the flesh.
init: 5 attack: 15. Damage irrelevant; see next post.

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#101Jab, slice, parry, stab, riposte.
Lumori was a veritable whirlwind of blades as he pressed in closer to the Qullan. So close to the swirls and lines of painted color covering the giant, it was impossible for the thief to avoid their influence, and it set his storm spinning on a new axis, adding a wobble to the tempest that fueled his frenzy. The tempo of his attacks sped up, the storm within him sensing an end to the conflict.
Thunk! Somnak's axe came from beyond the tiny bubble Lumori's focus had narrowed to. The pain and surprise of the crippling strike left the Qullan undefended.
Unfortunate.
Blood flew, and ribbons of flesh decorated thief, drummer, and forest alike. The wobble increased, the storm began to turn on itself, becoming maddened chaos. Lumori jumped on the corpse, screaming and yelling imprecations in a dozen different tongues as his knives beat out a staccato rhythm. Colors and shapes filled his vision, replacing all those around him. Lost in a maddened haze, the thief suddenly ran off into the forest, his voice continuing to be heard as he vanished into the treeline.
Behind him lay the body of the Qullan, barely recognizable as such.

Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#102Melior rubbed the blood and guts coating his dagger off on a handy leaf. He then looked around the battlefield for a moment, before calmly asking "what are we doing with the bodies? Burial or cremation? If we just leave them, it will serve as a warning for others of their kind, and they may track us with a larger war-party."
He glanced at the sky- at least, the sliver that the canopy permitted view of- to determine how much daylight they had left. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#103Thorgir ignored the elves question, and began to tend to his wounds.
"Thanks to you and your god" said Thorgir to the cleric, somewhat awkardly.

Brin
Barely a step off of the cavern's lip, Brin let one foot come back down to the ground, half resting upon it, as her eyes come around in a fair bit of surprise. "Ah." A human hadn't exactly been expected. Let alone a naked one. Still, as the other speaks, she manages a delicately twisted smile, keeping her eyes focused on his face. "I've found, elder, that there is often little difference between the two." The smile becomes a bit less of a smile, then, as she explains simply, "I am but a messenger. My Lord and Master wishes me bid his... greetings to the one who fancies himself god of this land. Might you know where I would find his temple?" -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#105Brin
God of this land? Yes! Temple? Yes, yes, there is temple! Temple of the god! A’ambah-Joh, the Watching-Egg. Urin-chi-rot, he who guides us! I ran away from village long ago, when it came from purple pyramid above silver pyramid!" The old man had a faraway look in his eye and it was hard to tell if he was reminiscing or hallucinating. "But you come back! Yes? Next cave above great danger! Rest here!" -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#106Rasmus returned to the scene just in time to hear Thorgir’s quiet thanks. The undergrowth of the clearing was stained red with still-warm blood. The painted, giant savages looked as alien in death as they did in life.
Melior was saying something and looking at the sky; Lumori returned as well, a feral look still in his eyes. Somnak was examining his axe, which he had just ripped free from a Qullan’s spinal column.
The jungle clearing was still and quiet. A few more hours and night would fall again.
The woman spoke, suddenly animated, but in tongues. Some kind of gibberish no one among them could understand. Except perhaps Melior, who searched his mind for the appropriate dialect…
(ooc: Melior can understand the tongue and quickly learn to communicate in it, by simply rolling a 14 or higher on a 20. He can try 1/day)
-
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#107Somnak stared blankly as Lumori ran off screaming, then shook his head and studied his wound - it was significant, but not serious; he would tend to it shortly. First, he reached down, placing his boot on the final Qullan's back and wrenching his axe out with a sickening *squelch*. After pausing to consider a moment, he picked up the Qullans sword as well and strapped it to his belt.
to the mage he shook his head, "I'll not waste time digging a hole for these. I say we drag them to the stream and dump them in the water. They are fresh meat though; i would save a leg for eating! Now; who is this?" Spmnak indicated the generously chested female, "Does it speak? Or do we eat her as well?" -

He paused a moment, and then realized that he should probably inform his... Colleagues? No, too formal... Comrades? No, too friendly... Companions! There we go... Maybe he should inform his companions of Dzila's tale.
"Apparently, Dzila here eloped with her lover to this island. The Qullan killed her lover, Doguz. We are to go and give Doguz a proper funeral." -

Rest here!"
"Hm." Still standing on the edge of the ledge, Brin pursed her mouth for a moment, before looking upwards, and signaling to the hand to slide back down the rope. "I see, honored elder. Do I even need to pass it in order to get to the temple of the Watching-Egg?" If it would be simple enough to bypass the cave-wall, then she would do it. If it was the wrong way, well. And if the old man didn't remember, then perhaps he would remember well enough what the danger above was. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#112Brin
"Yes! Come come. Sit! There is dead ghost!" He pointed above to the cave with a dessicated finger, and chortled with glee, so happy for the sudden company. "Few come this far. No one comes looking for god! Yin-soso, he who came from below!" The old man went one,"Pass above? Yes! No! You must not climb! My cave, yes? I can show you way! Do you have cheese?"
He was about to say more, but then saw Ghulkar making his way down the rope like a spider down a hanging web.
"Aaaaaghh!" the old man screamed and ducked back into his cave. "The ghost sends his hand!"
-
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#113At this reaction from the old man, Brin actually threw back her head, chortling with something akin to a devil's laughter. "That's from no ghost. I gave him a hand a while ago, he owes me. Quite a great deal." It wouldn't really do to run down the whole story of how she ended up with the possessed hand of a master thief following her about. For a moment, she was tempted to take the rope back up. The dead were difficult to wrestle with, but properly rebuked, had the chance to become excellent allies. But perhaps this was the safer risk, and she did, after all, have a little cheese. If a day's rations was all it cost, then it was a fair price.
Still, as her rope was returned to her, she carefully coiled it, and slipped it into her pack once more, before stepping gingerly into the cavern, looking for the old man once more. He would be more pleasant to look upon if he was dressed, that was for certain, but so long as he was panicked, there would be little help from him. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#114If Melior’s words soothed her it didn’t show.
“Doguz? “ she sobbed, “He would be somewhere there”, she pointed in the general direction from which the companions came, a patch of jungle that looked like any other. “We-we do not bury our departed. We leave them. They become part of the jungle.”
“I do not know what I shall do now!” she wailed anew. "I dare not return to face the wrath of the Manju-Loh’kah. I am alone.”
Pause to sob and recover again…
“But you! You seem like heroes come alive from children’s tales! You slew the Qu’qu’lan", she glances each one in the eyes, "Our warriors have great trouble fighting those painted devils. Why do you come to this island? For the shiny clear stones?”
-
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#115"I have two questions for you, Elf. First; how are we to find this 'Doguz'? I somehow am doubtful that this... girl, is capable enough to find the body again." Somnak wasn't even watching Melior as he spoke. He paused, grasping his axe in two hands before suddenly swinging it with force at the corpse of the Qullan. with a Thunk, the axe cleaved through the Qullan's left knee, severing the lower limb from the body. "And the second - more important question - is why? Why would we waste our time helping her? Is it not enough that we saved her from these beasts? Now we must dig through the jungle to find the corpse of a stranger? Clearly her heaving chest has woken the emaciated digit within your neglected loins, Melior, for it is not with your 'clearly superior' mind that you currently think. I say let the beetles have him!"
Somnak kneeled down next to the Qullan corpse and studied it closely, deep in thought. Finally, he smiled viciously and reached for his knife on his belt... but it was gone! It must have been lost to the sea. Instead, he grabbed the Qullan's own sword, and made a delicate slice with the edge - the blade parted the skin beautifully! Truly this was a fine weapon! With patience and precision, Somnak skinned off a large portion of the Qullan's skin from it's midsection - Using his roll of string, he folded and wrapped the skin into a neat yet gruesome package. He also tied a length of string onto the ankle of the severed limb and slung it over his shoulder. The others may go hungry, but Somnak would be eating well tonight!
The Half-Orc stood up and left the corpse where it was - he didn't even bother dragging it to the river. If any other Qullans came searching, let them find the bodies of the comrades, and imagine what horror must have stolen their fellow's limb and skin. -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#116Brin
The old man introduced himself as Dibeel once he calmed down and was assured the animated hand was not there to do him harm. He led Brin into his musty cave, overgrown, even on the inside, with weird jungle fauna. Pausing only to cackle at something that was only funny to him, he proceeded nimbly deeper into the cave and upwards, assuming the obsidian-skinned creature was following him.
After a few twists and turns the humidity finally subsided, and cave-plants gave way to wet earth and dripping limestone. Here the old man paused as if he had suddenly forgotten something. Up ahead lay a fork in the cave. One tunnel angling upward, the other heading downward.
"No! Forgot way! Left or right! Quite so! One leads to village above and Watching Egg Temple! One leads to--how do you say? Hookers? No, no hook horrors! Now give me cheese! Yes? Keep hand away!" -
Re: Tales of Misadventure [Isle of Woe]
#117With a little frown, Brin nodded to the older man. Digging around in the pack for a moment, she came up with a small ball of cheese, handing it off to the man, careful to keep the hand away from him as best she could. "Good enough, I suppose. Now, I suggest you go find some pants, Elder." After waiting for him to leave, she frowned, standing in the cavern, holding her flickering light.
A brief prayer to her lord later, and she made her decision. She started up the one that appeared to angle upwards, pausing every so often to listen very carefully, and to pour out a small amount from her waterskin onto the ground, judging the direction of the tilt. She'd little desire to be caught by a sudden drop and a handful of hook horrors. -

#118Frowning a long moment, as the tunnel failed to take her up or down, Brin paused, and placed her hands upon her holy symbol, before pulling a pinch of salt from her pouches. Quietly she murmured the prayer, before casting the salt into the air, and staring at the pattern it formed upon the earth as it landed, giving her Lord the chance to speak with her, even here. #119"The jungle will have reclaimed the body by now. There is no point in looking for it." Lumori knelt next to one of the corpses and cleaned his blades off on the cleanest bit of loincloth he could find. At least now the edges wouldn't dull from caked on blood. He also picked up one of the preternaturally-sharp weapons and gave it a few testing swings. Judging it to be a worthwhile blade, he strapped it to his back and continued divesting the bodies of their valuables.
He could still feel the fringes of the madness place curling around the edges of his mind. Perhaps it would stay quiet for a while, now that it had had its fill of mayhem and carnage. -

#120He paused a moment, and gave Somnak a glare that said, quite clearly, how insufferably stupid Somnak was, and how Melior would get around to explaining things to him in a moment. Another of these glares, but lessened in severity, was given to the rest of the party.
