    I am supportive of the idea of going a bit gentler on the newbies so as not to frighten them off before they're caught in the Hotel California effect that is the Citadel. However, I also don't want to lose one of the great strengths of this site: good, strong critiques of each others' work.

    In another thread, valadaar suggested a "Detailed Critique Requested" flag like Deviant Art has. I really like that idea.

    It seems we could do this in a couple of different ways: There could be an explicit flag or submission type in the submission editor or we could decide on a freetext to use ("Don't be gentle" comes to mind :) )

    It seems like, in theory, the  Advice Requested sub type would work for this but I don't think I've seen this in practice. With a flag or freetext, the author is more throwing down a challenge to find the holes than to ask for advice on how to complete it.

    I think freetext might work best for this. If we wanted to, I could add another icon like I did for the guilds.

    I don't like the idea of it being a submission type because it isn't really. Extreme Critique mode is a modifier of a normal submission. I want to try and keep the sub types as actual sub distinct conditions a submission would be.

    Sub Types below for reference.

    * 0 = Deleted
    * 1 = Normal Submission
    * 2 = Private - only author has access in work hidden
    * 3 = Challenged - looking for a vote on removing it to "Requires Edit"
    * 4 = Requires Edit
    * 5 = Draft - Collaboration Requested - "help me" Viewable in profile and through link in right column
    * 6 = Awaiting Approval
    * 7 = Draft - Viewable - doesn't show up anywhere except user's profile.
    * 8 =
    * 9 = Stub - no voting / no HoH / no listing. Only shows up in author's profile and through linking.

    An icon would be a nice touch.

    What would be a good freetext for this? Would "Critique Needed" be explicit enough? "Indepth Critique Requested" seems a bit long.
