Re: Wilderlands Game
#41Hmm, phone app? I'm using my irl Dice, courtesy of WOTC. First time I made any checks today, worked out so well I'm afraid y'all will get suspiscious. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#42I don't have any real dice and when im on my phone I can't use the rolling feature in the full chat :p
so I've downloaded an app called 'wardice' which lets me roll different dice.
Also, I think everyone's pretty honest here. By tweaking the results, you cheat yourself as much as anyone else from having a proper game anyway, I reckon.
If you're very worried about it you can go into full chat and type /roll 1d20
then you can copy that result along with the timestamp it gives you. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#43I'm not worried about it. When I'm running a tabletop game, I don't need to check everyone's dice (Just my daughter's, which sometimes seem somewhat less than random...). I don't see any reason to be different online. If anyone is so wrapped up in their character's fate that they can't stand failing or dying, just let me know. We can discuss the matter and come to a mutual agreement about our gaming expectations.
Myself, I prefer some honest randomness in my sessions. If everything is pre-planned and story-based, that takes too much of the edge off. Games are more exciting when none of us (including the GM) know which way everything will turn out. -

I don't like the chat roller, I'd prefere not to use it, it seems to be seeded badly(or at least that's what I've been told). As long as it's okay with you guys.
I think I did a booboo on the disguise roll though, I read later that the results should be unknown to the player, so I guess the DM should be making those(tell me if I should change it, or leave it in). Are there any other rolls that the DM should make for the player? Perception checks, stealth, disable device, etc? How do you wanna play it, Wulf? -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#45Good point: I'll generally roll Perception and Sense Motives. When appropriate, I will sometimes assume that characters "Take 10" on a skill (following standard procedure to produce predictable results). With Perception, that means that when not pressed for time, they will casually scan the area before giving attention to details that catch their interest (A "take 10" followed by a Perception roll).
People can also "Take 20", methodically trying every possibility. This is typical for attempts at picking locks without time pressure or when searching an area for a secret door when you know exactly where it is. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#46Someone asked about elves in the area...
Elves in the Targnol Port Region
While elves and the elven-blooded aren’t uncommon in Targnol, they are seldom considered “locals”. At one time, the Thistledown Forest held a powerful court of the sylvan elves, but these folk were annihilated centuries ago in a conflict with the forces of Viridistan. Since that date, most sylvan elves have avoided the region, believing it powerfully accursed.
Elves still found in the area tend to come from two separate elvish cultures: Altani Elves and Feral Elves. Often interbred with the primitive tribesmen of the Altanian Peninsula, the Altani typically have ruddy skin and tawny hair. These elves generally hold the “decadence” of imperial culture in contempt, eschewing human-made items and maintaining their own mysterious philosophies and religions.
Feral Elves dwell in the hidden depths of forests and jungles. These sinister headhunters are notorious for their murderous vendettas and cannibalism. They seldom indulge these dark behaviors while traveling in civilized lands, but many folk would sooner wrestle a half-giant or anger a goblin-blooded swerting than court the wrath of these bloodthirsty fae-kin. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#47So Verity grew up in a city that must have despised elves then....Ohohoho, Juicy! 8) -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#48May I just suggest that if a player doesn't respond to a required post within say...5 Days or so, then the DM gets to adjudicate how that player's character will act. With the exception that a majority of the players are on vacation or something like that.
Just to avoid bottlenecks. What say you? (Silence also counts as consent). -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#49I'm good with this.
-
Re: Wilderlands Game
#50Agreed.
Also, I think Wulf mistook Exeta for Verity in his post, unless I missed something :p -

Agreed.

EGAD! I'd better fix that!

Re: Wilderlands Game
#52Being the prompter of this particular idea, I also agree.
That said, I'd also like to apologize to the rest of you for the hold-up. I just spent the past weekend moving, so I've no Internet and almost no time to participate. Things are winding down, though, so I should be an active participant from this point forward. -

Ah, you should have told us then! No worries, it could happen to anyone of us, that life in meatspace catches us up. Now we've got a fail-safe and we're moving forward again. Onwards! :D -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#54Gossamer, Verity has won the Initiative.
Wulfhere rolls 1d20 and gets 14.
Wulfhere rolls 1d20 and gets 12.
Verity's Perception roll... 14 + 7 = 21
Verity's Knowledge (local) roll 12 + 4 = 16
The tiny chamber is dimly illuminated by an oil lamp upon a small shelf.
Although he was mostly asleep, the noise in the hallway woke Verity in time for him to get a good look at the serpent as it crawled from a crack in the wall, headed beneath his cot. It's a substantial creature, a cobra of at least five feet in length. He doesn't know much about these snakes, but it seems similar to ones he's seen in snake charmers' acts, so it presumably doesn't spit poison. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#55So,... Are we at D-Day now? Anyone have anything else left unfinished?
I've got my morning all prepared. :D

Re: Wilderlands Game
#56While the party travels toward the citadel, Therdamin's dwarven vision spots something the others miss: Ambushers hidden in a shadowed alley! One is preparing to hurl a small object toward the party, while the second opens a large wooden box.
(I rolled Perception checks for the party and Therdamin was the only decent one...)
Roll Initiatives! Val, let us know what Therdamin is doing in the surprise round. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#57Imagined dwarven war cry. Turn my warhorse towards the enemy and charge..
Well, as soon as the horse is pointed the right way, spur/slap it into a charge or panicked stampede, and abandon horse.
Ill post more later - prime time at home right now, but my intention is to disrupt the missle attack with the horse, and not Therdamin himself.
-
Re: Wilderlands Game
#58Initiative: (10:38:26) Minion: Shadoweagle rolls 1d20 and gets 9. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#59Caesar193, the doctor would have urged Peregrina to remain so that they could finish planning while in the inn, then travel together. If Peregrina would have agreed to this, you can “retcon” your decision to head for the Citadel before the rest. This would place Peregrina into the current fight.
If you'd rather have traveled alone, that's OK as well. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#60Initiative Results:
Surprise Round:
Therdamin
Villains
Following Round:
Therdamin
Septimus
Ren
Guards 1 and 2
Villains
(Peregrina, if present)
Exeta
Guards 3 and 4
Doctor Dreimond
If someone goes before an ally has gone, no harm done... -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#61Peregrina allowed herself to be convinced by the doctor to hang around for a bit longer. Bear in mind that while we discuss our plans, she's shooting Spetimus the evil eye and muttering... things about mercenaries. Thus, she's here to kick a** by providing ranged support. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#62FYI, gentlemen: The wife and I are in the process of moving. Will get rough around the 18th/19th to connect, but should be up and running quickly. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#63On deck to go next:
(Particular order not vital…)
Therdamin
Septimus (hopefully someone can on Siren’s behalf, since he is unavailable)
Ren
Vaqqas the Guardsman
After they've gone, Tall Hakanis (Guard Number 2, now with a name) and the villains can go. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#64lol, I can go this round, it's just this upcoming weekend that i expect super chaos.
:) Will in the morning here. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#66Woah woah woah, 9 trained skills as a fighter with an Int mod of +0?? And Traits? What are traits and how come I ain't got none?
Edit: Ah those were just Class Skill Markings, my bad. Still want Traits though. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#67http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits (Wulf, I can strip them off if I wasn't supposed to use them. Hazards of moving a character between campaigns, haha.) -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#68You try one cool, in-character action, and what do you get? RNG gods laughing at you. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#69I had intended to assign one trait to each character as their personalities and styles became apparent. Those willing to be illiterate would be rewarded with a second trait.
In response to one player's inquiry about 'buying' disadvantages to allow extra traits or feats: I would rather not allow other disadvantages, as I once ran a GURPS game where the players overdosed on disadvantages, not realizing the cumulative effect of having multiple characters with major problems. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#70Chaos, Ren's heroism will not be unrewarded: Ren is now owed one free reroll at a later time, in tribute to her (almost!) cinematic attack. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#71Attack of Opportunity against the bone golem thing, 20!, unfortunately 8 to confirm the hit, so just a regular hit. And 1+2 damage. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#72Can channel positive energy be used as an attack of opportunity? Not that it matters with a 5...
-
Re: Wilderlands Game
#73Moving weekend is coming up. If I can't post, Septimus's general pattern is going to be to bludgeon the bone thing unless a retreat gets called. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#74Peregrina and Exeta are up, along with the remaining guards and the doctor. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#75The AoO roll was a 4. I'm not even sure that's worth a post, since Ren is prone. >. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#76Poor Ren. :( -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#77If I get another roll under 10 this fight, I'm pulling out my Game Science dice and using those from now on. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#78Folks on deck for their turns:
Therdamin
Septimus
Ren
Vaqqas the Guardsman
Then the villains get their turn (immediately followed by Peregrina's critical hit). -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#79Vaqqas is down to 5 from 13 hp in one blow, that thing hits hard. -
Re: Wilderlands Game
#80I targeted Peregrina's arrow shot back at the dwarf, as the cockatrice had gone down before her move.
The current initiative roster looks like:
Exeta
Guards 3 and 4 (and the hobgoblin eunuchs)
Doctor Dreimond
(END OF TURN)
Therdamin
Septimus
Ren
Guards 1 and 2 (Vaqqas and Tall Hakanis)
Villains
Peregrina
Since the remaining villains move at the same time, the exact move order isn't essential.
