Hubal and the Tisqoshu
#44Hubal was the very first of all things. He opened like an eye on the void before existence, and shone down with blue light, for he is the moon in the sky. He sent dreams out into the void, where they established themselves like the seeds of trees. Hubal looked down upon the world for ninety-thousand centuries, but when he became confused by the emptiness.
"Surely there must be more than this?" he said, and with his hands, he felt about. Finding nothing, he released forth from himself and created three-hundred and seventy-five beings of his own substance.
Of these, three-hundred and sixty walked away from Hubal's light, and disappeared into the void- these are the Kitubaltulbahuralqotiinu, the 365 Turners-Away, and they will not return (and are forbidden by Hubal from returning) from long journeys among his dreams until the end of time, when Hulan, the true son of Hubal by the Unnamed Goddess, will lift the Cloak of Stars away from the world, and man will see all the gods, and Hubal in his full glory.
Those that remained were the Tisqoshu, the 10 Turners-Toward. These are the children of Hubal who have no mother- they have no female component, and are thus all male.
The Tisqoshu are:
Mahdi, Prince Arrayed In One-Thousand Gems, creator of beauty, nobility, and wisdom
Buluqat, Peacock of Splendid Valor, creator of valor, skill, honor (and honorable combat), strength, and confidence
Alilumiba, Banquet of Glorious Friendships, creator of happiness, friendship, sharing, cooperation, and love
Az Azaban, Stone of Unyielding Puissance, lord of earth
Ti Qoshashbeli, Wind of Wild Creativity, lord of air
Qeshatah Luq, the Earth Being The Air, lord of fire
Yashdoli Buqan, the Air Being The Earth, lord of water
Uwutsi, the Masterful One Clad In Reeds, lord of the forest and of animals
Bahtiib, One Who Disappears, creator of darkness, stealth, secrets, knowledge, and hidden things
Uha, Lamp of Surpassing Luminance, the sun, creator of day, light, truth, revelation, and the sense of sight.
After these came two out of Hubal's dreams who were never seen before, nor were they made, nor were they of the Kitubaltulbahuralqotiinu. They are the Unnamed God and Unnamed Goddess who are lovers but who are also brother and sister.
The Unnamed Goddess is married to Hubal, but keeps her brother as a concubine and as advisor to Hubal.
Hubal gave to men, along with Mahdi and Uha, the ability to make images. But Hubal prohibited men from making images of the Tisqoshu, for they have no female aspect, and their maleness causes in them great arrogance- they will have no images. But men may make images of Hubal, and also of the Unnamed God and Goddess, for they are outside of Hubal and his dreams.
Hubal is in appearance many things- a robed ancient man, a crescent moon, a bull, an ibis. In his more humanoid forms, he is shown with huge exposed genitals. In human form, he is often shown to have a golden hand.
The Unnamed Goddess is shown as a beautiful woman with long, long hair and a silk robe. She has bare feet and bare hands, and exposes her belly. Sometimes, she is shown as being heavily pregnant, or in the throes of passion with her brother, the Unnamed God.
The Unnamed God is shown as a slave-vizier, tall and shaven-headed and wearing a white robe. He reads from a set of tablets. He covers one eye. Sometimes, he is shown in the throes of passion with his sister, the Unnamed Goddess -

Christianity
Historically, Christianity has professed belief in one deity, three divine persons (the Trinity), that make up one deity or Godhead, known as "God". (See Athanasian Creed.) Thus, most Christians are trinitarian monotheists, although there have been dissenters; see the articles Arianism, Unitarianism (History), Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Jehovah's Witnesses for examples. Most of these unitarian groups believe or believed that only God the Father is a deity; Latter-day Saints believe that the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit are three distinct deities.
Actually, as a bit of brain-fodder for you, think of the trinity as a cube. When one draws a line, one has that dimension (horizontal for now), and it is itself. When one draws another line, it adds another dimension to it (verticle), and so something becomes a box; both lines are themselves separate, yet part of the same whole. Then, when one adds the third line (now the X, Y, and Z planes) you have three dimensions of a cube, all the same, yet all separate. Gives an explaination that most people can understand, yet couldn't figure out themselves.
I'd also like to comment as to the "Abrahamic religions" part of Moonie's post...If one checks in depth, you'll find that the two gods mentioned are not the same at all. Allah has completely different characteristics than Yahweh of the Jews/Christians. Allah is (in my opinion) a resurrection of the ancient god Baal, worshipped by the Philistines. But I digress. Yahweh is, as 'tis so wonderfully stated in various places in the Torah and Bible, Love. Not a loving God, Love. It is his defining characteristic. Allah is most definitely not Love. Jihad anyone?

There is only one Diety I've used while RPing, either GMing or just freeform; this is due to not having many clerics or paladins within those. The one I have used before is below.
Limere, the White God
~He was modelled off of Yahweh from the Christian religion, only with a slightly more...warlike aspect. The closest analogy I can come up with is that he's the perfect god for a Paladin, or a war-professing cleric. Not much more was needed, as it never came up during the RPing, though it was established that he was extremely anti-undead and demon based. -

The term Abrahamic religions is actually used by Christian, Judaic, and Islamic scholars. All these religions rever (to a varying degree) Abraham as a great one and mention him in their holy writings. (In fact Jesus is seen as a great teacher by the other two as well... just not The One). In fact, Islam scholar calls Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, all the Religions "Of the Book" showing their common roots in the spiritual community/ writings of the region.
You have to remember the loving Diety of the New Testement, inspired all the Wrath of God in the Old Testement. He was a vengful God. People often argue about was it God who changed, or just the people writing about it. Allah is a stern, but loving God... Never confuse what followers do with what the Divine is.
As for their union, the Angel that brings down The Message to Muhammad is called "Michael" the Fire Bringer, the Spirit of the West. This is the same angel as quoted in the Bible and the The Torrah (and Quaballa). So unless Michael is MoonLighting for some other diety....

#51One analogy I've heard is to think of the Books as stages in humanity's development, like a growing child. The Old Testament was God speaking to a young child: these are the rules, and if you break them, you'll get punished... because I'm the Father and I said so, that's why. In the New Testament, humanity was a teen: the only real rules are "do what's right," and "try not to screw up;" learn that your Father will love you no matter what, even when you're going through your rebelious phase. The Koran was the conversation for when humanity was ready to leave home, to start work or go off to university: last minute advice, things to watch out for, and some final warning about the big wide world. -
