Journal Threads ++
#1Alternatively, could we allow each person a "journal thread," to allow them to write about their adventures? I know that each person can have a personal gallery. Just random thoughts off the top of my head.
Of course there is a mod that can accomplish this. Here is the short but sweet description:
Only the starter of a journal can reply to his/her own journal. Only one journal can be started per member in the journal forum.
Probably take 10 minutes to put up but it raises a question and concern. Do you think that the amount of forums is getting too large? It may be just me, but if we add the Journal, which is an interesting idea...blog right?...then that should probably be put into the same catagory as the new chat forum will go into. The Words from Distant lands should probably fit there as well although I was never satisfied with that forum to begin with so I may get rid of that one as well (opinions welcome).
So because there are three forums of the non-counting type they should probably be seperated into their own grouping so it is easy to know that posts don't count and so people know that it is basically a free for all. Adding another section and another forum seems to start pushing the too big too many button on me.
On that topic (which is different from the one this thread was started for :oops: ) do you think some of the lesser used threads are appropriate, should be scrapped, combined?
Eph said he will be gone a couple weeks on holiday but I was thinking that the Alchemy and Labyrinth could maybe be combined. -or not-?
Rumors of the land started with good intentions but it never really took off and I haven't had the time or inclination to add anything to it. Could probably throw those into Misc Homebrewed Ideas without missing a beat.
This topic is going all over the place. I have a little time today because I am off work because I am sick as a dog and so my mind wanders.
Back to the Journal to confuse you. Would there be enough users on it to throw it up? It will, as it says, be exactly that, just a thread started by the person with only that person able to post in that thread. I would absolutely love it if people would actually keep track of their adventures there so we can read what happened during their gaming sessions. I have read quite a few of them online before and they are fun to read no matter who is writing them. If I had a group going I would probably use it. -
Blogging
#2Basically you would be creating a blogging forum with your resources. While a "neato" and keen feature, do you really think the site needs it? As a general rule blogs are pretty darn pointless. It would be even worse here as our bloggers would be dimensified and citisized. If we contain the non game material posts to the two forums it is in now, and don't count the posts there, why do we need what would be basically blogs? All it would do is take up resources with the nut cases and minimize the posts our regular members would be making, as there energies would be sucked into their blog/ journal. -

#3"nutcases" I love it. :lol:
I will entertain any request, up to the majority to determine whether or not it is implemented....
unless I really like it then I will do it anyway :wink:
