   Those that have been around remember me disappearing at times for various reasons. The latest is, yet again, promotion testing times. It happens every year but some years are not worth studying for....like the last 3 years for instance. No chance of promotion in my career. However, this year is the first actual chance I have at promotion. Along with a bunch of other stuff is a 100 point test on being a professional in the AF. So I have been hitting that pretty hard the last few weeks (OK, not as hard as I should but I am a procrastinator by nature). My test is Dec 12. I will explode a bit after that and then the holidays but you should see me around more often after that date.
   
   
   So that is why I haven't been around. Computer is usually on as I often downloading torrents so if you need something, just shoot me a PM.
   
   
   Thanks for your understanding during this latest absence. And it isn't a secret. In the past we have normally decided it is not necessary to publicize that I am not around....although it is pretty obvious I think.

   Missed my promotion by 17 points. Damn. Scored awesome on the test, just didn't get all the love I hoped in the other portions.
   
   I have been on temporary duty for awhile...and sick for about the same amount of time. With a culmination of miserable, I had a fever that hit and broke last night and now I finally feel somewhat normal. Still sick but compared to what I have been, I feel brilliant.
   
   So I am kinda back and will try and get to those few bug fixes on Sunday. Today I am doing family (my birthday ;) ), tomorrow will be a possibility but being back from work travel going to spend time with them Friday and Saturday as well.
   
   Next week should see me back to more or less normal haunting and will finish updating the site layout to the new header. Just wanted to give a quick update to y'all.

   Reminder, or maybe initial warning. I am taking my Eastern European trip starting tomorrow morning. Will be gone till the 16th.

   Didn't advertise it too widely but I am currently in Okinawa. It was a surprise trip for me, I had all of 20 hours to prepare for it and then the plane ride was a solid 30 hours of travel to get here. Insane!! Barely able to get all my shit together to make it. Such is the military. I will be here till December 15 or so, attending a Marine Corps leadership course. Pretty unique opportunity all said. After that I will be scarce through Dec 20 or so when I finally test for my next promotion.
   
   As of today, however, I got my main laptop in the mail so I have the glorious Sublime 2 editor and a screen bigger than my netbook. I refuse to code on the netbook, it is a pain in the ass. So will try and fix a few things over the next few days. The training as slowed a bit finally so have a little more time to play around with my hobbies...and study of course.
   
   Just wanted to tap you all and let you know I am sort of around again. I may be gone for days at a time depending on training requirements but around enough that you won't miss me too much. :)

   Hijacking this thread for pretty much the same reason.
   
   Hazzah, promotion testing again. Good thing is I keep getting promoted, bad thing I keep having to study. Beauty of this time is *if* I make it...I will never....ever....have to study for promotion again.....ever! (at least in the military) I am going for E-9, Chief Master Sergeant. So if I get that puppy, all is well.
   
   And for those that wonder, that is sometimes why I am so sporadic. I suppose since I am getting up there in rank my time is not my own. As much as I would love to have a normal schedule, have time to do my passion and design as a second job, write and do all those things that relax me so...well, I don't have much control over my hours or when I work. So a minimum of 10 hour days is what I have and what I do. And 10 hours is me leaving early lately because I have to make time to study.
   
   I test Sept 14 and results will come out sometime in December. I will be scarce here until the weekend after my test as I will be dedicating every moment of sanity I have to staring at highlighted words and reading dry military doctrine. I am around, my computer is on and I will be popping it...but will probably be pretty quiet for awhile.
   
   PS, I made my rank after the Okinawa trip by the way. This is my first try at E9 and I should have an OK chance getting it...but who knows, gotta try.

   Just a small update....I MADE RANK!!
   
   My life just got exponentially more complex but it will be worth it. Never have to study again since there are no more ranks to earn! Pretty good feeling.
   
   Feeling better sick-wise too. Might be able to start coding a little bit this weekend before the holidays and visitors strike again.
