Just a small note for fellow admins, I locked down the A Discussion on Personal Rating Standards thread http://strolen.com/guild/index.php/topic,5683.msg70487.html#msg70487

After AG posted accusing me of being an "honorless woman" and committing a "crime of  passion" I felt the thread had run it's course and was about to degenerate into a classic flame war that would have only served to damage the citadel and drag in those members who otherwise had no interest in the conversation.

    Edit:
And yes I do see the irony of having to lock a thread I wanted to be created in the first place, I guess perhaps I'll think twice next time before attempting to rewaken sleeping red dragons or the equally  heated topic of vote/comment quality.

    In a follow up:

    As for me:
Locking it is fine, but I think another admin than you should have done it. You are a part in this conflict, and I don't think either of you are innocent.
It is a typical hurt feelings scenario.

I see your point, at the time running to find another mod to do it for me I figured would have gotten me the expected response of "you're a mod do it yerself" and during such time others could have gleefully added their verbal gasoline to the embers and made a potentially bad situation worse.

RGTraynor: You and Silveressa dish this out via pm. If I got my way you'd both stay active.

I'm done beating my head against that brick wall, and I doubt at this point he's open to further discussion on the topic, so I'm happy to let it die.

On a side note AG, I figured your responses were only in mock seriousness, (but still better suited to a PM to Traynor) which is why I replied in kind, and tried to make light of it before others could jump on it as a full on genuine "personal attack." (Although after re-reading everything that had been said so far I had my doubts that would actually happen, hence the topic locking.)

I don't have anything against you Silveressa.
You are an asset to the site.

But no one is seeing RGTraynor's side of things here, so I stepped in to get my head chopped off.

I know RGT can be a handful (you can), but I wanted him to accept things as they are and move on, cooperating.

I don't think page long debates will cut it on this one.

Lol, now you got me curious, how'd you find out I'm a "handful?" Or have you been talking to Rosie?  :P

Indeed, the discussion would have just kept going round'n round and getting people no where, best to move on to something of more interest that has a glimmer of providing a useful bit of productivity.

    :D

RGT: Take a break. Have a cup of tea. Enjoy a caramel. Roll some dice.

    Then come back here!

I unlocked it. Locking it in the middle of something unresolved would cause more angst than a continued debate. As much as I don't want to see a continued debate.

I am usually pretty neutral in these things because the thing I have to gain or lose are two awesome folk.

RG is set in his way and any contradiction/questioning of his ways will bait him into a spiraling defense. So, in this case Silveressa, I think you keep throwing chum out to the sharks. In your calm, analytical dissection he can't figure out how to deflect you. He thinks the way he thinks and that is it.

If you want to bang your head against a wall some more, go read some posts from Ra. That will get your head spinning and make this look like child's play.

I said my piece in the thread and I don't like belaboring these as there usually isn't an end to it, just two dissatisfied parties. :(

AG, that was pretty rough though. I had an uncomfortable laugh and a shake of my head as I read your last post. Man, really!?! LOL I am just happy Silveressa read into as she did else the site may have melted from the resulting heat wave.

I deflected the debate from its errant course

Perhaps a small PM to the person informing them of your intent might be a good idea, that way there's no chance of them mis-reading/reading too far into your comments, taking them seriously, and exploding for no reason. ;)

On a side note, will someone, for the love of Mathom, kindly delete Traynors (and my own) comments off my shipyard sub (or give me the ability to do it myself) so those voting on it for the quest don't get distracted/derailed from the sub itself?

It wouldn't have worked as well then :p

If the comments have not been deleted by the time I am done watching True Grit, I will delete them.

    Done.

All women are handfuls, don't be silly. Almost any married man knows he has a tiger by the tail.

    :p

 A few married women find that out too.
