Login sessions are not persistent
#1My login session is constantly dropping. This is relatively new behavior. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#2I had that issue in Firefox for a little bit as well. Didn't seem to have a problem with the other browsers. Went away at some point so just thought it was me. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#3I am suddenly having this issue with safari on my smartphone -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#4I find it is especially bad with Chrome now. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#5I had this issue with Chrome for a week or so a month back, then it went away.

Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#6I don't know if this is the same thing, but I have noticed that login sessions are different between www.strolen.com and strolen.com. I find that if I appear to be logged out, I can fix it by removing the www from the current address. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#7Logging in is certainly being strange. I found that I had me password saved for the account Pieh 4 times, 2 under www.strolen.com and 2 under strolen.com, and a 5th account Jhoric saved. But it won't automatically log me in, though my name and password are saved, AND when i log in on the main page, it redirects me to the forum. Which is slightly annoying. I will post again if anything changes/ i figure this out. Oh, and I deleted all my saves and resaved, just for kicks. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#8Oddly though, no problems on Firefox -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#9I have no problems either on Safari or Firefox. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#10That is all interesting because, obviously, I haven't had access to the site in weeks. Which goes to prove that sometimes I actually don't break things.
;)
I haven't been able to see this problem myself unfortunately, but on the list for some researching anyway! -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#11Hey, the last few days I have been having to log in multiple times.
Wondering if it is because I have used 3 different browsers. Anybody with this issue use multiple computers/browsers? Perhaps the cookie login thing is being affected by different logins? -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#12I've been having the problem a lot today, using only Google chrome, I have to keep logging in on both the forum and the main site. I wonder if perhaps it's something to do with the "stay logged in" script not applying properly? (Or the 60 minute script not running correctly?)
Given the daily refresh timer script is broke this might be somehow related? -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#13The daily script is pretty separate. My confusion continues as I haven't touched anything on the site since like October and this started while I was in between locations. So wondering if it is more how the browsers are handling cookies now? Just totally guessing.
There is a new release of this forum, which by connection actually runs the login for the main Citadel as well. It says there are some integration hooks that have been fixed so perhaps they are just an anomaly.
This also means that the forum look will change yet again. Every update breaks the theme so will find another I can modify easily to fit our "style."
Will warn you all before this happens as aways. Forum is getting very close to stable so the large inconvenience of total rebuild might soon be in the past. Part of the problem with using beta software.
Cheers.
You rock Silveressa, thanks for the continued maintenance of the nightly refresh. I put a sticky on my map hanging above me. After I catch up with 3 weeks of homework over the next few hours I will figure out that automatic update!
Thank you!!! -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#14Thanks for the continued maintenance of the nightly refresh.
Anytime, I'm glad to help, if you ever need a hand with anything else feel free to ask. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#15I changed the .htaccess. That might have been the reason after all.... ??? -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#16idk, but despite entering 9999 into the "time to stay logged in" box and clicking on the "stay logged in forever and ever" check box, I still got booted after about an hour. Firefox was open the whole time, so it shouldn't be cookies. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#17Will upgrade the forum this weekend. Hoping that will solve this...and not cause too many other problems.
:0
Sorry you all have to continue to deal with this. :( -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#18It's worth the inconvenience for a site this good
(While you're messing with the site this weekend, any chance of fixing the chat system so more then a select few can access it? ) -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#19Chat system is hard broke. Easy fix if the developers update it...but not for me to fix unfortunately.
Hoping the forum upgrade will get some of those things back into working order. -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#20It's strange with the chat system only select people able to access it, perhaps it has something to do with rank settings? (mod admin etc..) -
Re: Login sessions are not persistent
#21It has multiple permission settings in the forum admin panel. The main problem is that there is no chat compatible with this version of the forum any more. They didn't update the chat with the forum so all the permissions in the background are messed up with no interface to fix them. Only way to update them is raw updates in the database, but I don't know what to update or where. So it is basically crapped.
The blueimp folks will have to update that chat else we will have to use another one.
