Delete Subs
#1I tried to delete a sub that was in work -hidden. I had no option to delete it that I could see.
Are we ever going to be able to _completely_ delete subs? -
Re: Delete Subs
#2When you save a sub you have the option to save as hidden, in work, in work request advice and so on. Among those options is where delete is located. Doing so will create a new section called deleted submissions together with topscores, HoHs and goldens, so deleting them permanently is in todays version, impossible. -
Re: Delete Subs
#3Right - and that's the comment on if they will ever be truly deletable.
Deletion could allow another user to create something new with the same name. -
Re: Delete Subs
#4I have had the same problem, lets say I created a location sub with the name "Obu", later I decide that this is more fitting as a dungeon sub. In those situations we are stuck. I can not create a dungeon category sub with the name "Obu", ever, even if I put the old location "Obu" in the delete section. I agree with you Val there should be a final delete option as well.
Maybe the option could become available once the sub is in the delete section, something like: "Delete forevaaar", once we hit that, we get a window popping up, asking asking us "You Sure? Your sub will be destroyed in the fiery pits of mount Doom together with the ring..."
Just my two cents.

Re: Delete Subs
#5There was a reason for it during one of the versions and it was decided to have it that way. Can't recall it any longer. I always honor full deletion requests from people though. They usually just PM me and I take care of it. That has actually happened quite a few times.
This brings up another thought that we have been pondering for awhile too though. Do we want to put a formal creative commons label on all the posts on the site? author decides per article? or just go as we have been with no formal agreement. Informally the content is yours, I just provide a place for it. I usually don't think very hard about it but some authors may want some more formality on it perhaps? One of those things that comes up occassionally but I haven't done a ton of serious thought on it. I just like coding and supporting the community. That is my motivation.
Can probably make a true deletion though. It is your content after all, if you decide to delete it we shouldn't have an issue with it. Hate to lose submissions of course. Most sites -
Re: Delete Subs
#6Do we want full delete? -
Re: Delete Subs
#7I think so. I think we should be able to release a title (eg. 30 Dohickies) we never intend on finishing, so someone else can.
