Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#1Now, understand most of these ideas are yours, Sorry if I don't include the attribution, know that very few of these are actually my personal ideas, I just consolidated and organized them into a way I can use them. I believe all of these will be automatic. They will be added to the midnightish cron job to be reviewed nightly and updated the same time levels and votes are updated.
These are up for discussion now but I will probably start coding them as soon as I get a spare moment. Possibly the airplane ride to Italy. :)
The point of these are the "quick and easy" goals that players can achieve and have some other reward type things to motivate participation. Some awards may point out lesser used features of the Citadel as well so they show other ways to use site. Also will have an 'Award Pages', where the people with the awards are listed, linked from their user profiles and from the documentation/award definitions.
As ALWAYS, these are all up for discussion, addition and/or improvement. Let me know what you want or else I will do it the way I want it.. :) Sometimes our ideas even match.

In General
The staged ones will need to replace as they go up a tier. I think most of these can be staged to a degree.Remember that we want an easy access to some of these, low level so noobs can get the rush of getting a badge/ award. Then the next ones should be notably tougher.
Notes:
Not that they didn't make the cut, just that they are harder to implement. I have had an idea on using Guilds for a long time and some of those fit into that category. Once i figure out these awards and get them going I still want to pursue the Guild idea.
"Apprentice": ten consecutive posts with improved ratings
"WIzard!": 25 wizard freetext above 4.0
"Warrior": 5 weapons, 5 armors, 2 combative NPCs (all above 3.5)
"Warlord": 10 weapons, 10 armors, 5 fortifications, 5 combative NPCs, and 1 combat/warfare system (all above 4.0)
"Clown": 5 humour posts and 15 funny freetexts.
"Loudmouth": Comment is longer than submission
"Systems engineer": at least one system in each system categories.

Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#2Since I am still rather new at this, I haven't a clue as to what half of this means, but it sounds awesome! Definitely looking forward to following this, and learning what some of the stuff means. I agree that the nonsensical names in things like the rating list are good; we don't want to start taking ourselves too seriously. -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#3Wanted Dead and Alive and Sarcastic: Nonsensical names for any of the above....or nonsensical names period and we will shoehorn them into something. Will have a hover that explains it but we need award titles!!!
The coding has started on it. Will need names soon. :) -

very cool that ^
And can't wait to hear more on the Guilds ideas
How about a few Mathom-themed names since he's a bit of a site mascot? Disciple of, Favorite of, Unworthy of, etc. These titles could work backwards, the low end of the scale being something like "Mathom Incarnate", and the upper scale ending with something like "Mathombane". Could work for adminy things and bug/weird character hunting titles. No one would want to be Mathom Incarnate for long, thus expediting the call to duty, and a release from Mathom's cold, hard grasp.

#5Mathom based is an awesome idea! Will work on some tonight. Good call!!! -

Guess I'll just bite the bullet and ask -- who's Mathom? -

#8You know, I thought the name was familiar. I've seen a lot of links to that post on other submissions I've read, but never found the time to read it . . .

Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#11I'm claiming "A Lordliest Scent" as me personal title, being the one to coin the very controversial "Smelly" freetext I think it fits. We need a Smelly Quest!!! MORE STINK FOR THE STINK GOD (not me)! -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#12I tried a few more anagrams -
Strolenati Mountain Sheep = A Elephantine Trout In Moss.
Ignorance Incarnate = A Nice Conning Errata, A Cocain Anger Intern, A Nectarine Can Groin.
Hall of Honour = Half Hour Loon, Hullo Horn Oaf.
Llama Lindstrom = Madman Trills Lo, Alarm Doll's Mint, Old Mill Mantras, Damn Mortal Ills, A Man's Mild Troll.

Depending on how often you post....average posts for how long you have been online, then you will sway towards one extreme or the other for a kind of Manthom factor -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#14With the new forum update allowed the achievement system to be installed. It is installed and working but not in use yet.
1. Need to fully determine the awards we intend to hand out.
2. Need graphics (but won't stop the award system from starting as soon as we get #1)
3. Drum up the magic to automatically award people based on what they already have and keep it updated with what they will have
The awards will show up on the forum as well as the main site.
In work. :) -

Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#16Gave one to Muro. They are up and working. Muro Awards will be the first awards given. -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#17These are going to start popping out of the woodwork as I complete each query to identify them.
Graphics are temporary (which might mean will be there for a little bit). It required a graphic so I had to come up with something. It would take me 10 days to decide on what they look like and I would never get the code. Easier to code it so it is at least there, then fix the graphics at my leisure.
This will be continuing throughout the night.
You can view all your awards in your profile. I think I made 6 shown as max. You can choose which ones are your favorite to show on your profile if you have lots. Will eventually put them in your Citadel profile as well. Not sure if that will be in the next 6 hours or tomorrow. -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#18Added another set today. Crazy how much code it takes to do it too!
Every category has 2 awards.
Category Guild Award for 10+ submissions in that category
Elite Guild Award for 10+ submissions AND a 4.0+ average submission rating
Those were tossed up just a little bit ago.
For the forum, especially if you have some duplicates, you can go to your profile and select your favorite awards that will show in the forum. I am going to stick with 6 at the moment.
Again, MORE than happy to change names and/or graphics if you have something better. I am in code mode so my creativity isn't at its peak but want to get them working. Always easier to tweak names and graphics!!

Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#19Seeing as it is possible to have more than six awards is there a way that we can pick and choose what awards are displayed? Or possible make it random so those with multiple awards can show them all off? -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#20Go to the forum profile and view the awards. You should be able to choose your favorites and those should be the ones that will pop up in the threads.
Still working the nuances of them, expect some other changes on display and such. Can try showing more as well. -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#21Added three more achievements
Don't make fun of me for the name...come up with a better one!! :)
Questor = 5+ quests with a >3.0 average vote
Master Questor = 10+ quests with a >3.0 average vote
Elite Questor = 5+ first and/or second place wins
Also allowed you to show off 18 achievements in the forum. Might get gawdy. ;)
No, I can't come up with a way to link to stuff. They will just have to be decorations and people will have to search to see what the awards are for. I may come up with something later but, for the time being, it is what it is.
Hopefully one day I will be creative and rename everything too!! -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#22Questor/Knight Questor/Lord (Lady) Questor?
-
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#23Awards galore! Fascinating! -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#24Maybe we could have something where if you qualify for multiple awards inside the same category only the highest level is displayed? If you have the Gold Widget for 10 things, then it rather goes without saying you have the Silver and Copper widgets too for 5 and 3 things -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#25So, do you think that I should remove the lower level ones then? Can work it that way if you want. -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#26Nice rack by the way. ;) -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#27Not really remove them but just a way to make the duplicate ones not show. When you have four or five awards that are topped out the lower awards show as well so four awards turns into what twelve awards? With eight of them basically being duplicate awards... dont know if that made sense but ti me it did. -
Re: Citadel Recognition, Badges, Achievement Awards
#28Ok. Redid the awards script. Got rid of the duplicates so you "should" only have the highest award in each section vs. having all the progressive awards.
Also updated the nightly script to run and check. If you upgrade to a new award, it should delete the old one.
