  1. A 30 Concern

    #1
I have started a blog with the intention of getting the attention of editors. I have done this at the advisement of a published coworker. There is a matter that I am concerned about, the 30. I came up with the idea, but Moonhunter beat me to the 30 Codex. The concern I have is that it makes it look like he came up with it.

It has caused me some discomfort because on one hand I feel like something has been taken from me (especially considering how poorly the original 30 list was recieved in the old sepia Citadel, dismissed by several members, and now it is a fairly common theme. But I also end up feeling like a tool because he did do something that I should have done but never did.

Thoughts, comments, ideas for a resolution?

The 30 codex is just a collection of 30's - it in itself is an organization tool rather then an important piece of IP itself.  The idea of 30 related objects is a good idea and is outside of the codex to collect them.

This is just my opinion.  Your content is far more important then its organization.

    1. Starting here because this is the way I think. Starting a blog. I would be happy to host a blog site for you with whatever software you wish. Wordpress is the more popular and feature rich of course. The main reason being is that if you intend it to be your author type showcase spot, you could create it with an actual domain name of your choice. As you get into blogging you may find more things you wish you had and blogspot may limit that. If you had your own domain you could change systems or whatever and always be consistent with the same web address for those that link or look for you. Doesn't matter to me, just my initial thought.

    2. Moonhunter is actually pretty reasonable and he has played in the publishing realm for quite a bit.I would simply PM him and explain what you are trying to do and ask him if you can take ownership of that post. If you expand a little bit on the resume type purpose of it I am thinking he will understand that. As you know, Moon did a TON of work on the old Citadel to help it get organized and did take the initial grunt labor of most things, so I don't believe he did it on purpose to get to it first or anything, he was a machine back then in trying to promote the site, organize it and make it what it is. So he may have some fatherly feelings towards the thread because of all the work he did back then on many things. So keep that in mind as well.

Tough spot though. Right now all you can do is see what he says.

Offering blogs is a nice idea strolen :)
I may be tempted to go that route too, if I can get over my current doldrums in writing.

    What Strolen said.

In the old days I had some run ins with Moon. I think they would have solved themselves more nicely had I simply brought it up with him, but I approached the whole thing with a dark mindset.

I now believe I was wrong. I believe he just wants stuff to work, and the citadel to be nice and shiny.

He is like a worker bee, lifting us up, rearranging us, all for the glory of the Hive and the Queen....
The Queen would be you, Strolen! :p

But, yes Scras, I know the feeling.

Scras, at the very least I think you should get a domain name of your choice. If you are going to start branding yourself, a personalized domain name should be something you do early for consistency as I mentioned.

That way if you want your own website and move away from hosted blogs then nothing will really change as far as people finding you. No orphaned sites. Doing a couple quick searches it seems that it isn't that difficult to transfer from that site to wordpress or other blogs. That tells me you are safe to get devirgined there and if you like it, sweet, if not, you are able to move your content.

Happy to supply blogs to any of the admins. Get yourself a domain and/or you can use valadaar.strolen.com if you like for free. For blog or you own site, even if you just want to goof off. I have no problem with whatever you want to use it for. I host muro's sweet ass website http://murometz.com/

A graphic designer with a squirrel fetish. What is up with that?

    Hey, Squirrels are people too!

My case for why Squirrels are cooler than Llama:

    1. They don't spit
    2. You can carry one in your pocket
    3. They can handle nuts with their prehensile little fingers (Can your Llama do that? Hmmm?)

Why Llamas are better than Squirrels:

    1. They spit
    2. You can't carry one in your pocket
    3. They can damage your nuts with their insanely accurate kicks

    Where I live:

    People eat squirrels
People don't know what Llamas are
    People spit
People put anything in their pockets
People kick each other in the nuts
