Roleplaying Tips
#1http://www.roleplayingtips.com
Johnn Four's site is one of the best of its kind. He and others have created tips on a variety of subjects. Johnn himself is responsible for 1425 rpg tips on a variety of subjects. (Note I have 1200 on www.openroleplaying.org) Players and GMs alike can find advice that is useful to them. Check out the Archive. If you like what you see, subscribe to the free email newsletter. -

#2Positive:
I know and use this page, and it offers great tips every week. It IS useful, definitely.
Negative:
Well, you cannot really search for the tips you want. You can see the 'Archives', with all the titles of former issues, but this does not always tell exactly, what is inside, and the tips offered 'under the line', are often great too. This is a great tips resource to subscribe or visit regularly, but tips is all you get. -
And that's a bad thing?
#3Okay, being in the game tip business, perhaps I am a bit bias. However, the information needs to be trolled through. If you are looking for quick bandaids, you are correct, the site is hard to use. If you are actually willing to read through an entry, you can get the full load. In addition, the first 50-60 or so "issues" don't have secondary tips, so what is on the list is what you get. -

#4That's not a bad thing per se...
If you read it regularly, it's fantastic. But being a rpg forum addict, I like it when I can ask, and get help relatively soon. Mostly... -

#5The boredom.
Great Cthulhu, the boredom!
Though trolling through the tips to find something you're looking for nets you a bunch of tips on the side in addition to your main topic, why? WHY?!
Attention....span....waning....Must...find..tip....
Still, a very good resource, extremely detailed and involved. I give it an 8.8. -

#6On the normal french scale that is pretty bad though....
(In france your schoolwork is typicaly rated on a 1-20 scale with 20 being excelent)
Personaly I feel the search is pretty terribele. To me it only seems a very nice site if you keep up on the "new" tips and tricks.

#7I don't mean like grades. I mean like the Olympics. Y'know?
The judges give that an 7.9, 8.2, 7.8, 7.8, 7.8, 7.6, and a 9! -

#8I guess I can't find a reason why not to award it. Yes, the search is basically nonexistant which would make it a much better resource, but even ignoring the archives and just getting the weekly email starting now, there are always TONS of good things to digest weekly to keep you busy.
Better for nondirective hints and tips. Better to just get something and say that is a good idea and then make a note for yourself then actually going through looking for answers. -
On a related note...
#9First. I would like to bring it to a vote or just award the site.
Secondly, I am one LONG sys op visit away from beating J Four's personal number of tips. The magik number is 1425 for Johnn's personally generated tips. I currently have 1427 tips submitted to ORP, unfortunately that is approximately 175 tips the nice sys op has to fiddle with and enter before the world can see them. And there are more sitting out there.
I am a long way off to beating the site, because they can generate 10-20 tips a week and I am just not that prolific.
By the way, congratulate Captain Penguin on his new black belt. -

#10Thanks.
I find this site worthy of the award.
