Thought of it when I was writing about amazon.com in the other thread. Am going to implement the shopping cart thing to save stuff you want to print or whatever. That is going to happen.

Using that idea and how amazon has those suggested lists made by people, do you think that would be worth doing here. Each person can have a list of their favorite submissions that others can look at. Perhaps even have a place where plots/npcs/items that are weaved together somehow into a larger plot and saved and available to everybody? Don't know? Just thinking out loud.

Probabaly something for in the way future when there is a lot more to have to pick from. Or something that is just silly. Not sure. Been a long night.

Know Elfwood?. It is a really big database of images and fiction. Though I doubt the Citadel will reach thousands of plots  as are there images, there exists a thingy called Guided Tours: people make a tour what THEY like, usually mono-thematic. So you would like dragons? Hundreds of pictures can be found, but a single tour with arguably the best ones picked.

Thus, entire chains of plots may be built, by people who know the good stuff (like we do  ).
Needed a good mystery? A roleplaying challenge? Something to kill tonight, but also to remember afterwards?

Thinking about submitting a real plot: I have the plot itself, 2 NPCs, and an Item as treasure and the adventures focus. And I would like to submit them all at once, with links to each other.

It could look like this: After choosing Add Plot there's the option of NPCs and Items creating simultaneously. I choose how many of each, and type their names. This becomes a Project of sorts, you can edit whichever item you wish, add a link to other items, even if they do not yet exist. Given the instability of Internet, browsers, computers and my ideas, this all should be saved before The Great Submitting- bad news for the server.

Limitations: 1 Project for 1 Member. Ever. 5 key Items and 5 key NPCs are enough for most adventures, even 3 should be OK.

The Great Submitting merely places Items to Items, NPCs to NPCs and Plot to the Plot. Its so easy for everyone but for the poor Strolen who programs it

So with every Plot there could be, in a ?side-bar?, or somewhere links to the NPCs and Items made specially for it. Similar code for the Project and plot-display. The main plot page will not change, but might say plot has 1 Item and 2 NPCs. Possibly.

Idea added. Is it enough crazy to be good?

Would it not be simpler (for strolen) just to give us a way of inserting hyperlinks inside our plots/npcs: e.g.

"The Night of the Killer Beetles:

Some killer beetles are released by Jim the awful wizard of Prunge etc."

I know the hyperlink wouldn't work, but if it were modified to work for the database then this would surely be a simpler way of linking items. And then you could link different plots that maybe happened in the same campaign world but didn't belong to the same "project" (i.e. campaign).

    ephemeralstability!

Man would it be easier to just put in links. I could just slap up some BBcode and let you go at it. Just have to figure out an easy way for you to link to other stuff. Was thinking of creating special BBcode like

    Talan the Killer
    or
    Star of Q-bert

And have the number corespond to the actual submission id to create a link to call it from the database. Would just have to make the id viewable by everybody so they could use it to link. Can just slap it on the row of stuff at the bottom of all the submissions easy enough.

Was also thinking of adding maybe some text boxes that you could type in the npc id number again and can put in a set amount or as many as they wanted. With this I could grab all of them onto the same page so they are all right there for printing or whatever. With the link you would have to print/view them seperate.

Manfred's idea is actually not that hard to do, although the way he described would be the only way to do it. For the project It would have to be done at one time in a sort of sequence I think. Then again maybe not. Will have to see how this thing comes together. I am trying to make it as module as I can (While I can do this I have no real training so the use of functions quite escapes me and I end up just hard coding everything and using php includes...which I guess is sort of the same thing. One code used many times. Anyway...) and because of that the project thing may not be that hard.

The link thing is WAY doable and I am doing the BBcode today or tomorrow anyway so can just add it either way. So that will be there.

Going with my last post, I think I could have the cake and eat it to.

This is what I am going to try.

The BBcode as stated above. Still have to figure out an easy way to get the id for whatever submission you want to link to though.

Since it is easy enough to parse for BBcode, I can have an option to view all linked submissions in the post.

If the user defaults to View Full Submission then I will add a link at the bottom of every submission that asks View Submission with Linked or something to that effect. They can click on that, takes them to the View Page and I will search the submission for or whatever and if it is there, take that out and make a seperate call and grab it out of the database and display them all on one page. So then the plot and all associated submissions will all be shown in full in the View Page. They will always have the option to simply click on the link and view the linked submission whatever it is, but this one allows them all to be on the same page. Once the print this link is up that will be useable for this as well.

If the user defaults to the default View Summaries then they will have that option on the View Page and the same thing will happen for them once they are there.

    Does that sound user freindly?
