Random "Site Membership" Thought
#1Wife was looking at tattoos and she went through a site looking at pictures. At some point it stopped her and said,
"You have looked at 153 tattoos. To continue browsing you must sign up for an account and post a tattoo or donate X.XX for a membership.
They have this page describing it a little http://www.bme.com/addpictures.html
We have talked a little about membership and getting more content, just an idle thought about requesting a submission or XX comments to unlock more type thing. Yes, comments could be spam but would be easy to say you have to earn xx XP on comments or submissions and such and trial members could have their comments colored different so real members would be motivated to + or - them if they suck.
Anyway, totally brainstorming thought... -

#2Ditch the "must" at the very least...
...but such a page would make actually a sense. If someone is looking on a lot of the stuff, chances are they like the site, so they could even contribute to it. So how about something like:
"Greetings, stranger,
You have looked at 100 submissions. It looks like you really like the ideas on this site. You can click the link below to continue on your journey, but please consider to become a member. Then, You can vote on submissions and leave your thoughts of appreciation, perhaps even help the submissions with a new idea or two - all are very welcome by us. There is much more to do if You want - but feel free to browse all of our content. Members can use the Advanced Search and have a voice in the workings of the site - and a lot of fun, too!
Continue to XXX.
What can members do(?)"
Not sure if the Advanced Search is opened for members only, but something like that should be mentioned there. Number could be reduced to say 50 given our subject matter.

And by the way, we are using the principle to a degree... by getting XP, users can use more of the features. Not sure what we can limit for anonymous users so it makes sense and doesn't turn off anyone - at the least I want to avoid the "Join, Or Else" thing. We want them to look at stuff, and a reminder page definitely wouldn't hurt.
