  1. Vote Against Golden and the mysterious (48)

I'm a little confused by this option. The sub in question is Siren no Orakio's http://strolen.com/viewing/Grand_Pyre_of_the_Phoenix . I like the sub, but I don't feel it is golden worthy. I have clicked the the Vote Against Golden link, trying to do my part and vote for or against Goldens, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I get a pop-up that asks if I'm sure and click yes, but that's it. I've done this a few times. Are my votes getting through? Do you have a log of like 20 votes against it from me?

...this leads into another issue/question. At the top of the homepage, when I'm signed in, I see my current stats. Next to my name it says "(48)" and it's a link that bring me here http://strolen.com/strolenite . What does that (48) mean? It just looks out of place there and the page it goes to shows 3 Golden Nominated subs, which I assume I'm being asked to vote on? But when I do, the number doesn't go down at all and I always see the same 3 subs. What the heck IS this?

As a valued long time member of the site, and as a user with several submissions on your record, you have been granted certain privileges.

The page you refer to is among those, a kind of "quasi admin" page where you can see Golden Nominations and vote for, or against them.

For them to disappear, my bet is that you have to make them golden. If what you say is true, there is  a bug in place that stops them from disappearing from the list when you negate a vote with your vote. Also, there are more golden nominations than those three, so another bug seems to be in place.

There is a chance that your vote negated someone elses golden vote, and chekas vote remained. I dunno.

    (48) means that there are 48 admin tasks that needs handling. It is a reminder to us all that we need to take action for the well being of our site.

AG hit it pretty close on most of them!

That number, that page, and the golden votes (which have never really gotten enough action for proper bug testing to occur) are on my short list of fixes I need to do in order to polish 3.0.

The 48 incorrectly identifies the number of actions that you are requested to be part of. This list of requested actions consists of Goldens, Requires Edit, Deleted, Re-review after update, and probably some other stuff I don't recall. The query that gets that number is woefully in adequate though so while the number is probably correct overall, it does not match what you are able to control...yet.

Chances are the golden vote took the first time and was recorded, but there is not double check so all the other votes are ignored. There is no good feedback which I do intend to fix with the pop-ups. The info should tell you what the heck is going on!! The vote *for* Golden will remain, i believe, until there are 3 negatives. It needs to go 3 votes one way or another when one is nominated then it should reset.

Good catches! I was going to try and do a night llama recon fix on that stuff before anybody noticed. hehehe

Uh, the (48) is now a (50) and the list it shows... is Looooong. I could be wrong, but it looks like it is showing most, if not all, of the submissions on The Citadel in alphabetical/numerical order. A quick scroll from the top revealed more "30 blah blah" submission than I knew we had. Just letting you know I'm keeping an eye on you, Strolen.

That is all the posts. It is a query in progress and I was interrupted last attempt to fix it. ;)

OK, at least now it shows the number of Golden Subs that you have not voted on yet.

This number should only appear for those that have the ability to vote on Goldens. For me, I need to review and cast my vote on about 61 different subs. Somebody has gotten the Golden fever.

I am going to update the way golden works as well.

If somebody votes golden, that is great. But if somebody disagrees with it, the votes will cancel out and the post will return to normal. In order to get full Golden status, there needs to be 3 positive votes with no down votes or an extra positive for each downvote.

Downvotes will not show the name or appear on the submission. Does that all sound good? That way it won't require 3 people to downvote which would be hard to do, it will be a more quicker opinionated review. I need to do some work on the golden so XP and votes and all that are fixed upon up/downvote etc. A bit of work to do on it, more to come!
