1. I miss the old chat

   While I do like the fact that the forum chat now updates as you send a message, no longer requiring you to wait until you go to a new page, or refresh the current page, to view what's being said.  I miss the old chat as a separate entity from the forum chat.
   
   By that I mean, there is now only one chat: the shoutbox, and while you can open up the shoutbox and use it as a chat, everyone and their mother can see this, instead of just those in the chat session itself.  Is there anyway to get the old chat back, or am I the only one that dislikes this new setup.  Also I'm kinda tired and rambly right now, so I'm sorry if this makes no sense...

   It is 3:30 AM and I am also tired and rambly and I approve this message. I also liked the old chat setup and will sign my name to a petition for separation of shouting and chatting. Also: You can see how many people are in chat at the top of the main forum page and even sign into chat, yet need to scroll all the way to the bottom to see who they are. This is bothersome and should be corrected.

   I understand. Chats are a pain in the but which is why I went 3rd party all the way. The old chat was a giant security hole unfortunately.
   
   I have experimented a little with the current chat so don't it super well. (and there is an option to separate the 2 chats automatically but it had a string of errors that I haven't had a chance to investigate yet.)
   
   If you open the main chat and change the chat room, then it will do a universal change to which chat room you are logged into. So if you move from public to another, then you will be logged into that chat on the webpage and the chat window. All that chat should not go into the public chat room. So you can be in a different, semi-private room, without broadcasting all your chats to the public chat. So while you currently can't have the public chat on the site and a private chat in the pop-up, you should still be able to have conversations that aren't blasted to everyone.
   
   Correct me if that is now how it is working. I will also research the errors on why the automatic separating of the site chat and popup give errors.

   If people really need to chat, and want it done safely away from the prying eyes of others, they can (just a suggestion) use a messenger. Just exchange contact information and you can discuss whatever whenever.
   
   Strolen is a one man army, but even one man armies need to focus their attention on top priority targets. I don't believe porn safe chats are top priority. :p

   Thats too bad, because the chat, the way it used to be, was one of the best things about the citadel, allowing people to socialize, discuss RPs, exchange ideas, plan new submissions, collaborate, and have fun. It felt more like a community.

   Soooo, what is exactly so bad about the new chat?
   
   All that really changed is location to the bottom and now it doesn't require a page load to post or read a new shout, it autoupdates. Are those bad things then?
   
   Not sure why it being connected to the main chat window is bad either. You can now keep track of the main chatting (if they stay in that main room) through the chat on the bottom of your page so you don't have to go from window to window, you just have to scroll down to the bottom really quick. You can still have the other main chat open if you want it of course.
   
   So, besides automatically making the logged in chatrooms different, what are we missing? Just trying to figure out what the expectations are for it and why this one is so bad.

   Yes, I agree with you. But chats are difficult. They are a mess.
   
   You all have a point, the new chat is not enough, but it is safer. An ideal citadel would have a chat. I can talk with Strolen about an idea I got just now.
