PM before deletion
#1I think we should also make it standard policy to PM the author before we delete the submission out of existance. Only makes sense, we are not evil looking to get somebody, we are only trying to maintain the integrity and a certain level of effort to Citadel submissions. If they get a punch, maybe they will fix it.
Should also probably standardize a PM message so we all can send a "form letter" to the offender.
Any thoughts on this? -
PM before deletion
#2I think in some instances it would be a good idea: if the submission lacks in creativity but is actually a sensible submission then they deserve a chance at reviving it: maybe PM them and give them five days before it gets deleted. If they modify it then the decision is reconsidered.
However for submissions like Mr Slick Face's I'd recommend deletion on the spot because if they don't treat the site with respect, then their puerile contributions are due the same lack of respect.

Perhaps just a courtesy send.
#3Most of the people who submit something "less than idea" seldom come back. They submit, then never return. A private message might never reach them. Email might work, but that gets complicated.
I am the character wizard at ORP. Their/ my policy is, unless the post is just "wrong" (and yes that is our technical term), we email the person and wait a minimum of 2 weeks, maximum of 4 weeks (our convience). 97% of the time, they don't respond or alter the character. (Yes, that is an actual stat I figured out... I ignore the occasional FU email responses as a non response). If they don't have an email, the character is just deleted.
If you think the piece is salvagable AND you think the person might still be visiting the site, PM (or email) away. I think the general guideline is "Go to the lengths you think the post is worth". -
PM before deletion
#4I think PMing is a good policy. If they aren't coming back, they never see it and don't care is their submission is here or not. I do agree that any offensive submissions should just be deleted as soon as they surface, but any simply worthless submissions might have a couple days grace so that the admins can agree that it doesn't need a PM to give it a chance to live. We might still just PM them to let them know we deleted it.
