I like Nocontrivedname. Don't you like him? Always telling what he has on his mind, not afraid of any authority or preestablished traditions.

Now there seem to be two parts of him which are of any interest to us. The first is the a$$hole:

I think I will take the liberty and delete the Pussy part. Yes, I'm now down to censoring members. But where were we...

Then there is - might be - something of a critic:

    Hey Echo,

I read this last week and didn't comment on it. But since you really seem to want a comment on it I will oblige you. I think there are good things here, but they are too mixed up to be much use, and it wasn't a particularly interesting read. You spend too much time on the Golden Path stuff. I understand it is important plot device to explain why this version of Babylon 5 is safe, but it is over expanded upon. (Also Goldenpath?, sounds too much like a fetish movie) The descripition of the station is also really lacking. You list a few facts about the station but don't give us more than independent ideas about things such as the robots and the race specific areas. I was left wanting for a sense of life on the station. Perhaps a day-in-the-life on Haven type thing thread through the post would help me get a handle on the station as a place PCs can interact with and not just as a political or military mark on a map. Two subs (written by best buds) I have read use a nice and condensed method for portraying this

Moonhunter's Norhold sub is slim and not overly developed but it gives some basic information about the city that would enhance any readers or PCs sense of "being there". He describes the corridors, the doors and where people eat and hang out. You're second to last paragraph gets at this, but fails to paint a real picture of a scene. Again it just gives facts. Moonhunter's Norhold allows me to see the door, to move 90 paces down the low hall and see the N in the floor of the Central hall.

A good post that takes another tact is

    http://www.strolen.com/content.php?node=5700

Here axlerowes describes an island city. I have no idea what a single building on the island looks like (except maybe a windmill), but his entire description is about Character interaction with the setting. Where to eat, where to sleep, where to find a whore etc. Where you take third person view of the station, axlerowes takes an almost second person perspective. Nothing you wrote draws me into the locale within your submission.

So again what is the post about? Is it about the station? Is it about the political and geographical forces that facilitated the construction and current political role of this station? Is it about why one would go to this station? All those fold into one another yes, but one of those should be the central theme of essay or piece. Right now I have to give this one the thumbs down. I may change my vote later.

Something resembling constructive criticism, the first time! Evar! Could it be we are doing something right?  :D

If we can get more of the second and root out the first, he might be useful. Be it nice talking, arguing, brainwashing, torture... nice talking should be a good start.

If we can't help him with his first, with all our love and care, he will have to go.

Who deleted NCN's comment from here?

Not that I mind it, but please let's record ALL deleted user comments (besides clear spam, if applicable). One reason is a certain matter of politeness to our members, the other is a record in case arguments arise. And I have been looking forward to a little argument with NCN, when I get the necessary peace of mind.

Preparing some materials here, please ignore.

    Greetings Nocontrivedname,

I have been watching your behavior for some time and I must say I find it increasingly irritating.

We try to be a "friendly place for the sharing, commenting, and voting on user submitted role playing game elements". Sure we are far from perfect, but at least we manage to cover the friendly part most of the time and actually try to help each other. And if there are members, that are constantly provoking others, insulting, or, what seems to be the best case, derisively praise the work of others, then we have a problem.

The reason I'm writing you is this:
    http://www.strolen.com/content.php?node=5732#71118

This is the first time you actually did something positive on this site.

I may be wrong, though I just went through all of your comments. To be fair, you had a few nice remarks at the beginning, from then on it seems go downhill.

In the comment I have linked, while still abrasive, you actually provide constructive criticism, so there is hope for you... it just seems to be overshadowed by all the other comments you left here.

I would like to believe, that this is some kind of mistaken good intentions, but can't find much proof for that. You haven't posted here any submission or idea, so we don't know what you really want - maybe you can help me here and spell it out. If you are still shy about posting your own ideas, just try it, we can be actually helpful at times. If you want to find some new material for your game or inspiration, that is perfectly fine. If you want to help others to improve their writing, that is also cool, providing you actually help them and don't just put them down. If you want to mistreat our members... well, then we have a problem.

You may have noticed, that some of your more insulting comments have vanished, they have been deleted by the administration staff. We can continue to delete them, but that is obviously not a long term solution. Feel free to contact us via a PM or in the chat. Feel free to post ideas of your own as well.

Nocontrivedname, please improve the way you interact with the members of this site. This is an official warning. Thank you.

I sent a PM to NCN with the message above. Let's see what he has to say.

Thank you. I was too close to the issue myself to contact him similarly. Your pm is excellent.

    And he answered:

Yeah, I don't want to mess things up. It was just when those guys chased Punkcasher out it seemed unfair. And then axlerowes and Moonhunter starting bickering and I thought by picking on them I would make them feel silly for their behavior.  At any rate, you are right. (I can't stand when people won't own up to their behavior) I am using this site for entertainment, and while I do enjoy editing and gaming, I will try and play elsewhere on the internet from now on.  I am not leaving the site. I am just not going to indulge in the silly or self amusing behavior that seems to grate on people.  I just didn't take it that seriously. Some message board (scorchedplanet for example) teasing and insults are sort of the norm.
I promise I will make it up to moon and AR.

Seems like he is behaving already - let's see how this works out.
