I hit the button for unread topics today, and there is a landslide of topics that have been hit on, all of them by the same user, Kassy. No big deal except that alot of the topics have already been dealt with, and some of the comments (one being exactly one word long, Okies) offering nothing more than net noise.

I was wondering what the rest of you thought about locking old threads after their issue has been resolved, or the topic itself has dried up.

Personally I would like to see older inactive topics locked to prevent their pointless ressurection.

raises hand. It is a good idea.

Only ones I would say that should be locked are for very specific issues that have been resolved and require absolutely no more discussion.

They would be a huge minority I would think compared to most of the open ended threads that exist. As a general rule, I am against locking anything. I would rather the occasional net noise (I like that term :) ) than new threads asking why we lock threads and then have to go through that whole discussion.

I would rather an old topic resuscitated than a new thread on the same topic.

Many of those threads were just 'noised-up', but some were revived, so it wasn't a failure.

    No locking.
