Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#41I'm getting really swamped with class here, so my quasi-unoffical withdrawal from the rp is becoming definately more offical, sorry to pull out on you all. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#42To clear up any confusion, I'm reading val's last post as Jhoric waving over Balin, since Jaegarmond is already with him. Mis-read it at first, so I'd be willing to bet others did as well. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#43I might be scarce around here for a while, Val, feel free to Auto-Pilot Rajani if need be for a while. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#44Going towards the rumored dwarvish roadmarker? Or a different Direction? I'll try and post a regional map soon...
-
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#45Towards the mountains and the dwarvish road, yes. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#46Okay folks, please post any pre-expedition preparations now. You can get some dried fish and acorn paste, as well as dried berries and few somewhat tastier nuts - sufficent for 1 weeks sustainance - from your various contacts and guilds for the expedition. This 'food' weighs about 1 lb per day and assumes you will be finding all of your water as you go. In any case, there is a big river beside Respite with perfectly potable water upstream - downstream, not so much...
There will be some fast-forwarding during the expedition - we will not be playing out every square foot of the trip, so if there are things you do as a matter of course, please let me know in this thread. Examples would be foraging for food as you go along.
Also, please decide on a marching order and any ususal actions you may choose to do when making camp. I will assume a campfire unless otherwise specified since cold-camps are really not that much fun.. :P
-
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#47Hooray, precautions! I will forage for food as we go along and I will also make sure that every time we camp we have a watch set out (Everyone is smart enough to know to do that, I just wanted to say that I'm doing it). -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#48Fafnir would gladly aid Toboran in foraging. Fafnir knows his ways about woodlands so he would want to be closer to the front in marching order. Fafnir is strong and if the need arises he can help hack through the denser brush. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#49Jaegarmond will keep an eye on the surroundings while the others forage. Demon-forged instincts die hard. Unless there's objection, he'll also try his hand (the non-planted one that is!) at cooking for the group. Marching position: middle of the pack. Once again, instincts die hard, and he knows he's squishy compared to others.
Spells will be memorized and refreshed every morning before setting out.
0th: Dancing Lights, Flare, Ray of Frost, Detect Magic
1st: Magic Missile, Tenser's Floating Disk -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#50Jhoric isn't a forager, but he can use his Detect Magic invocation if we need to check out something suspicious. Jhoric marches in the middle near the back or actually the back if no one else wants it. He could blast some small animals from great distances for food.. if you're willing to eat chaos-warped meat. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#51Gideon is crappy at foraging, being loud and clumsy (yay for stereotypes). He'll be at the front of the group, carrying the prospector (Estwick) who is armed with a crossbow. He'll chop through bush, too. Given our rather meager supplies and his rather obscene carrying capacity, he's more than willing to haul anything we need.
So far, he has but Estwick's tools, some torches, firm rope, crampons, a few spikes. A thick woolen cloak stashed away, to protect him at night and in rain, a blanket to serve also as a tent. Kindling, whetstone, knife. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#52Blankets can make very good tents -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#53K,tonight last night for postage before _something_ happens... :P

Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#54Scras: the language you chose is a step up from the usual choices people make, but can we please get some OOC translations? The online translators absolutely butcher your intended message. And I've got enough language-learning to do without adding another to the list.
Also, I'm a bit busy the next few days. Midterms and whatnot. I'll try to keep up my posting, but if I'm a bit slow, I apologize in advance. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#55Haha it's Korean, i picked it because no one should really know what she is chanting. If a character is interested, they could ask her. :) -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#56Oh, I knew it was Korean: that's how I knew the translators were butchering it. I just didn't want to give it away if you really wanted it to be a secret. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#57Okay folks, let me know where you are doing next. You have hills in the distance, another rock to examine, and a couple of other clues strewn about :P

Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#58Anyone else going to comment before the half-ogre smashes something? -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#59Not I! -

#62This is a bad idea. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#63Applying brute force to a mysterious monolith? What could possibly go wrong? -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#64I would not be able to think that "this is Sparta" if I did not, that would be wrong :D -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#65Okay, anyone going to do anything with the dead dwarve's gear, or the trapdoor in the structure? For reference, the old door has been destroyed.

Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#66And another note, treasure is by nature of the campaign world, rare.

Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#67Nudge? -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#68Can't do shit in this situation, captain. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#69I'm at a loss for what to do as well -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#70Well, I'd be all for procuring treasure and applying the boot of justice to the buttocks of evil, but given Gideon's physique, he's unable to do the former at all, and the latter only towards evil without. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#71Okay, will give until tonight and then will try and move things along...

Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#74I would just like to say this game is going great and I am having a grand time. But there is one thing I would like to bring up to Scras and Dozus, and anyone else who wants to use a different language in their posts. It would be much more beneficial if you were to write it how it sounds instead of using the direct foreign characters. It just makes it hard to imagine what it sounds like and seems out of place. But this is just my thoughts on the subject, if no one else has a problem, or I'm accidentally being an irrational dick, let me know. No offense meant, just something I want people to be aware of.
And, besides that, everyone is doing a great job. Many thanks. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#75No offense taken, sir. For me, at least, a language is more thoroughly "foreign" if it's written in an alien script. Perhaps my creativity nerve is on the fritz, but I can't exactly picture how Alunese(?) would sound, and I'm afraid I'd do a quite silly job of it if I tried to transliterate. That said, if it's an issue, I'm happy to adjust and find a happy medium, perhaps just describing tone and facial expressions as opposed to the actual phonics of the speech.
And I too am enjoying myself. Huzzah for the game! -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#76I'll be honest, I just type what I want Raj to say and enter it into an online language translator. I have no clue how to pronounce Korean.
Also: will be heading out of town thursday afternoon, afterwork and wont be back until late Sunday. Visiting Amish country so definately going to be a shortage of internets -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#77I've visited Amish country. -
Re: [Respite] - OOC Stuff
#78Got back from Shipshewana Indiana last night, it was a 10+ hour drive, with the road construction. It was great, the food was great and there was alot of it, and walking around Shipshewana during the Mayday Festival and seeing all of the horses and carriages and the community that caters to the Amish (and tourists) was neat. It gives some perspective on what it was like prior to mass rapid transportation. Everything in town closed at 5PM, but everything was open at 5AM, no alcohol anywhere, and it is actually easier to laugh and carry on. Believe it or not. You have to watch what you say around most people since almost anything can be turned to something perverted, sexual, or just simply wrong.
I asked a very pretty waitress how the cream pie was. The answer, very good -
