scribeofmektor (think I spelled it right) wrote this. I already wrote him an email saying we understand his situation and gave him freedom to do what he wants in the forum so if the post seems to be an advertisement, you know why. I tried to aim him away from that obviously and I think he will get the point and not do a blatant advertisement, but if he does, no big deal.
I pm'd a few but not sure if I hit everybody as I am tired, drugged, and just got home from a trip. Anybody see this transpire and have any suggestions to handle it?
From one gamer and website administrator to another, I would like to say hello. My name is David Roomes and I run a gaming website, the World of Khoras, at www.khoras.net.
One of the Khoras "fans" was roaming the net and stumbled upon your site and discovered that one of your Citadel members was plagiarizing Khoras. The member in question goes by "Golanthius". The plagiarism was remarkable both in quantity and audacity. He clearly was taking credit for "original" work.
The Khoras fan read Golanthius' posts on the Citadel site and then began adding comments Golanthius' submissions, indicating to Citadel members that the submissions were plagiarized and provided a link to the original source (www.khoras.net). Apparently, Golanthius was online last night, saw the new comments and then immediately deleted all of his submissions.
The Khoras fan emailed me and told me all that had transpired. So, I only just found out about all of this. I registered with the Citadel under the name of "scribeofmektor" to take a look for myself.
In his defense, Golanthius has now admitted what he did both in his profile and in the Citadel chat area.
Anyway, I just wanted to alert you to this matter. If something like this happened on the Khoras site, I would want to be notified. I'm not asking you to ban Golanthius or a public reprimand. I'll leave the consequences up to you. To be totally honest, Golanthius has been an active member and vocal supporter of Khoras on my own forum and I am very surprised that he would plagiarize my stuff! I'm actually a little hurt that one of my forum regulars would backstab me like this.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know what had happened. I don't hold Strolen's Citadel responsible at all. This was just one member's doing. And there are no hard feelings. On the contrary, I am very impressed by your site and will make a point of visiting as often as I can. You have a lot of good stuff here and many active members (I'm a bit jealous of that as Khoras still wallows in obscurity ).
Perhaps a posting to remind members that plagiarism is a no-no would be in order. Coming from you, it would certainly carry some weight.
Anyway, if you wish to email me privately, you may contact me at David.Roomes@paccar.com today or tomorrow. You can also reach me at dungeonmaster@khoras.net, although I am on a business trip right now and away from that email, so the paccar email is better for the next 2 days.
Oh, one final thing, Golanthius also posted several images and photos to the Strolen Citadel gallery and those are also lifted from Khoras. I'm not sure why he would delete his submissions, but leave the art online. Perhaps he was unable to delete the art.
Anyway, that's all. If it's alright with you, I would like to post a submission telling people about Khoras and directing them to the place where all of Golanthius was getting his stuff. Specifically, I saw a "Settings" section in the forum for created settings and perhaps I could post there.
I would very much appreciate an email back regarding this matter.
Thank you for your time! And once again, you have a GREAT website!
