1. Show Votes Again?

   I want to go back to seeing what people voted. I miss that.
   
   
   But I also understand people had issues with seeing votes before they actually voted thinking it might sway their decision.
   
   How about this:
   
   The author of the sub will be able to see votes on their submissions by default.
   
   Commenters will be able to see all the other votes AFTER they vote themselves.
   
   Until they vote they won't even know who voted, no indicator, no nothing.
   
   I don't think we should have to hide the votes and I think I am willing to take the possible negative that may come with showing them again.
   
   What do you think of that system?

   I'm all for it. Hiding votes is for wimps  :P
   
   Just as a side-note, it isn't all that difficult to figure out what someone voted even when the vote is hidden, since we seem to average about 3 votes per sub.

   I agree.
   
   I have known of something that have allowed me to see how people voted anyhow. I must confess I have seen some disturbing irregularities in the voting pattern of the community. Some people seem to vote on allegiances and favour more than quality of content.
   
   There is an expression here in Norway "The troll will burst when daylight comes".
   
   I say: Let the light of day shine on our votes once again!

   Trouble is, people don't vote much anyway. And this will not help it.
   
   Sure I don't like low votes (or even high votes) when they seem undeserved, but I try to not mind irregularities in the voting pattern... people vote as people want. They got their vote, let's hope they are mature enough to use it well. And I like the privacy as well.
   
   So I am against here.

   Sure, show the votes! "LET THERE BE LIGHT," I always say. In fact, I think I may have said it first. I kid. Showing the votes seems like a good idea, especially since some can see them anyway... (Would like to know how to do that, AG.)  But, yeah, Go for it! And I think this may encourage voting because people may be curious as to what others have voted on a what they thought was particularly good or bad. I say: Sounds good. (But make all my votes hidden all the time  :P) But yeah,  :up:

   This may change once we go live but we will start out v3.0 with votes visible and give it another go. I understand the reservations but want to go for it.
   
   System already in place.

    Back in 2.0, when I had that glitch I abused to see what people voted, I remember being pissed off at some people saying:
    
    Oh my god, this is great! and then voting 2.5 or 3.0.
    
    People have a certain knowledge of what people are voting anyway, so why not just be honest and upfront?

    Besides, since the votes are hidden, I've seen a lot of votes with values in the comment so that the citadel can see it. I do this myself when I can remember.
