Some bugs are too nasty, or apply to parts too dark to not stay hidden. So let's have a thread for them.

    ---

The same suggestion-multiplying problem from a different angle (plus an extra issue or two :) ).

In Buck-Ogre Rum there are four Link-backs leading to another sub. Known problem.

But if I visit that link, I get the classic report of a nonexistent submission, and an SQL error. The sub is of course Hidden.

Warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AS relevance FROM lockmor_content WHERE match (detail, title, summary, d' at line 2 in /home/strolen/ez_sql.php on line 760

    So:
    1. Hidden subs shouldn't be displayed, even as Link Back
    2. They may be causing some of the mysterious messages we can't seem to track normally!
    3. I'm not totally sure, but I don't remember seeing the suggestion-multiplying thing before the move. Since it really is a posting problem, it may have to do with the server/DB/something configuration of the new place.

    ---

Bonus issue: our Admin page - http://www.strolen.com/mod.php - is a little deformed.

Our admin page is the house of the devil.

    Can't wait to redo it.

On the serious meter, should I fix these immediately or can they stagnate in the hope that they get fixed in 3.0?

The multiplying is ugly and obvious, and has yet unknown cause, I'd give that medium. The displaying of Hidden subs lags somewhere behind it (few notice it, but it really shouldn't exist), and the Admin page is definitely low prio.

I went through and took care of some duplicates. It needs a script and I am not mentally fit at the moment. The duplicates "should" be fixed for the most part...at least of getting more of them. Not sure where the rest came from honestly. They were scattered all over (and I know I missed some as I just scanned the 3500+ table for strings of duplicates with my eyes.

The hidden sub one I can nab when I get in that code again. Probably a quick fix.

    Thanks manfred!

Just a little note to the dice rolling comment:

Shortly after the first post, it is possible to edit it, without a record left. The time period may be a minute (and might be configured somewhere). But, it IS possible to fake a dice roll, should someone really want it.

Hmm. I tried it almost immediately too and got the html.

I saw your edited comment too though so obviously it works. Oh well.

You only need to delete the html, and enter the dice code again. Voila, a re-roll.

You get the same or is it another random reroll?

I guess that makes sense. Unless I disable editing of posts there will be ways to get around it.

I am not too worried about it, you?

Nah, no particular worry, just wanted to point out the system is not all perfect.

(Plus disabling editing would be very impractical.)
