StrolenCon Custom Dice
#1Here is my first attempt with no graphic.
We WILL get some custom dice for the Con. Trying to come up with a design.
Kevin Cook gave some links to some other designs so you can see the level of detail available.
I have no idea what graphic to use though so if you have any ideas let me know....SOON. I will post ideas as I come up with them.

#10I have to say that I like the Dragon much more than the text.
Espescially for dice.
I say the second-to-last-one is the better of them. -

#13I too prefer the dragon ... but it may be more feasable/readable to do the words ... given the size of the die (16mm)

#14Actually, that was the main reason why I said that the dragon will look better. I think that it could be difficult to read the dice if they have text on them.
The Strolen Dragon on the other hand... I will instant gratification every time it comes up again and again and again... even if it means rolling low on my dice.
Oh, and, are we just talking d6's here, or can we get a d20 with the Strolen dragon on it?

From experience (see above) ... I think text is more readable than graphics are recognizable :(
Oh, and, are we just talking d6's here, or can we get a d20 with the Strolen dragon on it?
Anything that would be readable would have to be on a very large d20 ... say 55mm ... and even then ... the graphics would be about the size of that of a 22mm d6
(P.S. I think that this is easily the most awesome thread on the StrolenCon Board. Now I am all psyched.)

#17I think, even if some of the dragon detail was lost, as long as the outline was still there and mabye some less intricate spaces, it will still be easily recognizeable. We don't necessarily need all those details in it.

#20Lets see what he thinks of this latest one. I took out a lot of the intricate scrolly portions so now it is a more base pattern. Looking at the spaceship that went into pretty deep detail, this one doesn't seem too outlandish to me now that I cleaned it up a little....maybe? :) -

#21Random idea, inspired by Nobody's comment about rolling low. Why not have the pattern, (whatever it may be,) replace the six? -

Forgot about the dice till just now.
Ordered 50 of that last version. To be put on the 6 side.

I didnt see a 2nd page to this thread until I received the thread update notice ... (1 day late)
Problem is ... with the black page numbers on the navy background ... my old eyes have trouble with it
I see you went ahead and ordered some ... did Chessex show you a shot of the finished product? -

#24I finally ordered them only last night unfortunately. Didn't get contacted today about the order so my hopes for the dice to be available for the Con are quickly fading. My fault entirely darnit. If only "Real Life" wasn't real...it would be so much easier to get things done. :)
Will post any updates I get. -

#26I have called. They are AWESOME people over there!!! They said no problem and the dice will be done and probably shipped on Monday and will make the Con!

I called them as soon as they opened this AM ... as I thought the last day for you to receive them was June 20 ... so I wanted to give Chessex the heads up ... I also placed an order for some 'gift dice' that I will be giving away at various conventions this year ... in thanks for people who have contributed to the collection ... who knows ... if you can find me ... maybe I will have one for you :) -

#28Here is the first one. Looks pretty damn good. I asked if they would change the date and the NY NY part to an Arial Font to make it easier to read. It will be SWEEEET! -
