1:59 pm: Then I started looking at the top menu, how it is setup for that particular user and what they post on, and some other just general impressions of the site that I interpret into what we could do.

2:01 pm: Then the thoughts of all this started coalescing a bit and then I had my revelation.
2:01 pm: How how could this, or a derivate work for us?

2:02 pm: oh wow, the revelation is coming now
2:02 pm: My first focus was the profile page.
2:02 pm: *the masses wave their hands in anticipation*

2:02 pm: We have been talking about a revamp of that mess for a long time.
2:03 pm: (The major problem is, I haven't had time to properly water and feed my revelation so it is half-baked)
2:03 pm: (probably won't come across as good now as it may later too)
2:04 pm: (Just offer the hints, we can misinterpret them later as now. ;) )
2:05 pm: Thinking of all the community pages out there, myspace, woyano, and the hundreds of others, what if out profile page was to offer some of those things while sprouting a whole new way of posting submissions.

2:06 pm: The main part of the citadel will remain largely the same.

2:07 pm: The profile will turn into the information center of the site, author focused for ease of use.
2:07 pm: Design a more intuitive way to displey their submissions and thier favorites in sort of isolation from the rest of the site.

2:08 pm: A better Profile page cannot hurt.

2:09 pm: So when I go to manfred's page, I am just not looking at "yet another" profile full of numbers, I get to see a sort of myspace/woyano representation of manfred with things that he thinks are important. A new interface to view *his* submissions.

2:10 pm: It will have the basic stuff available, but it would be very easy to have a batch of available widgets of code so that you can put whatever you like where you want it. Could be sort of a personal portal to the rest of the site as well so you aren't shoehorned into the index page.

2:11 pm: It sort of gets mashed into details, but I guess a personalized portal with customizeable information and setup is sort of the key note of it all.

2:14 pm: Strolen made me worried about the day when we have 10.000 users... even one hundred actually active users at a time would make Citadel a completely different place.

2:15 pm: Ha. How many years has it been and we have about 25-30 regulars.
2:15 pm: M. probably asked, if people won't start concentrating on _their_ own little page, and not care about the others that much.
2:17 pm: (True... now consider if some of the comers and goers returned at mass in a short time period... and we have a hundred or two of potentially active users.)
2:17 pm: well, one would spend more and more time in ones own citadel, and we spend time now asking everyone to participate with the whole citadel...oh never mind I am overanalyzin :)
2:17 pm: Maybe, but say Dora makes a page and never leaves it. She will probably still be submitting, replying to comments on her stuff, and causing a lot of drama and discourse when others call her out for not voting or commenting on other people's submissions.

2:19 pm: I guess the ability is there that they really do stay in isolation, but more of my thought bubble was that - crap it popped. Wife talked..Damn, I think it was a good idea too.
2:20 pm: (Completely aside, but you get XP for voting and commenting on the stuff of others. Never thought I would embrace XP for this particular reason, but there is some potential as well.)

2:21 pm: Some personifying of it would be cool... and if some people stay inside of their own sandboxes, it's their problem in the end.
2:22 pm: We have quite withdrawn users anyway (or those with a lack of tim).

2:23 pm: So I am not saying it is a bad thing per se, but something to remember. Point goes to the devils advocate for thinking of this.
2:23 pm: rite but withdrawn users, dont need a further reason to be further witdrawn :)
2:24 pm: Worlds... *deep sigh* ...when we will have those?
2:24 pm: You could make a "Hewdamia" profile, or whatever, invite those that can add things to it or have a submission queue for approval for an addition to that profile and it can be sort of used to put together the world in profile.
2:24 pm: So we have to be careful to not make it a "reason". :)
2:25 pm: Then you can do all the same stuff on the main profile page, all Hewdamia centered......or something. That was part of the revolation that wasn't clean on how to incorporate them both.

2:26 pm: A lot of thought needs to put into it yet, but it is there tickling. I AM going to get those links up in the next couple of days though.

2:29 pm: In a nutshell. A nicer, more useable profile. I definately like the ability to customize what you have shown on it. Like a personal index to the site.

2:33 pm: I have the wiki open everyday with opera. I just need to do it one day. But I haven't started it yet.
2:33 pm: Yeah, there is probably a Moon post somewhere that we can gather most of what we need. ;) -
