Worlds in the Net
#1Worlds in the Net
http://www.hut.fi/~vesanto/link.networld/netw_list.html
This site has a gigantic, enourmous, supercallafragalisticexpealadotious amount of worlds and campaign settings.
It's not that fancy but the ridiculous amount of info makes it worth a look.
Perhaps it's worth a Seal, yeah? -
Worlds in the Net
#2You know, I usually try to say something constructive, but damn! -
Worlds in the Net
#3Ok, I'll say something unconstructive too:
Yee! -
Worlds in the Net
#4I remember way back when, when he first started the site. You will find Aros in it somewhere. He was part of the world building email list and looks like he still has those ugly globe things everywhere
Helluva resource though, tell ya what. -
It is a true part of the net.
#5It is one of my favorite sites to just surf through. Being a meta-site of content makes it universal, eternal, and always timely. I have only once found a bad link on the site, as it seems well maintained.
So this is a slam dunk I take it? -
Worlds in the Net
#6It is a great resource, but really no content...unless I miss it somewhere.
Brings me to another point as well. There are some great resources available, they may not get the Seal but they are still great none the less.
Thinking of an honorable mention type thing so that the good sites that may not give the warm fuzzy don't just dissappear.
Like this site, great resource for finding worlds and other stuff, but as far as a stand alone site, it is nothing but links. I am certain that there are a lot of worlds in there that may qualify for the seal with lots of original content but as for this site, there really is no original, useable content. So it doesn't really qualify against our expectations for a Seal Site, while it is still a great resource.
This site, as well as others, deserve a mention somewhere though...that is more then just the links section. So thinking about making another specific, Citadel commented page of good links. -
Worlds in the Net
#7hehe! Just followed the Aros link and found an ancient version of Strolen's Citadel! http://strolen.cjb.net/ Even older than when I first encountered it! Strolen, what the heck is with the blue hand that moves around the screen? And how did you get those superb fonts like the Futhark?!
I definitely prefer the modern version of the Citadel! How many other phases did it go through? I only came on the scene during its blue period (sounding like Picasso). I think this calls for a history of the Citadel to be divulged!

Worlds in the Net
#8Yes, that was my juvenile blue-handed java period.
I can no longer edit that site either since I have long ago lost the means to get into it. There was yet another one previous to that which I called "Grothar Rockfury's Last Stand" and was based on my favorite dwarf character. That is when I first started my PBeM around 1993. That site was full of animated gifs (not cute ones but bloody dripping lines and rotating skulls, (the typical first homepage) and also had the required background midi. That was my red-devil-blood-midi stage. Glad I don't have a copy of that one
I will probably take some time and get the fonts moved over to this site at some point. The firewall blocks .es sites from here, but I think my pride of that page was the pranks page. I had quite a collection and some of them were darn funny. -
Worlds in the Net
#9Sticking with my honorable mention but not a seal.
Will continue to think about making another catagory of some sort that different type resources (other then original content) would fit. -
Worlds in the Net
#10I know the site, been there quite often, but I would not give it a seal.....
Yes it is a nice resource, but sometimes outdated and I have encountered quite a few dead or wrong links. (adress picked up again for another reason)
Besides this drawback, it also is not updated very frequently, I remember that when I listed my site, it took over three months to get a reaction. (Which was positive by the way.)
Yours,
Ylorea
