  1. Bad Admin!

This is a reminder thread for those jobs that we ought do, but just don't get around to. So if anyone feels charitable, or has been a bad admin, he or she ought to take one of these as a challenge, and complete them. Heck, in some cases even a partial job would be great.

Scholar's Canvas: write expandable help bars on some of the following: Article, Dungeon, Lifeform, Location, Plot, Society, System. We are still missing those.

Citadel Explained: "OK, I got this stuff, now what? - Ok, that is all fine and dandy, but what is the point? " Complete. In addition, someone ought to read the whole page, check it, see if it is up-to-date, and nothing is missing, etc.
(Aside: there's a list of users at the end of Citadel Explained... I don't see what it is based on.)

Delve deep in the slimy abandoned corners of the Cavern, and clear out the worst mess that has been forgotten for ages by now. Must been a really bad Admin for doing this one. :)

I am sure you can add more.

    Yeah :)

The list of users is just that. I used it when redoing levels and when I want to know the distribution of levels and who is where and such. Probably not super necessary anymore, but I just left it since I put it up. It is everybody that has a level in the main citadel.

Citadel Explained was written in a marathon, edited a couple days later and left since then. Yes, definately needs another set of eyes on it and I will be very thankful for it. That and all the other things manfred mentioned would be great too.

We could maybe expand on some of the definition of sections that appear in that tan area under the horizontal navigation bar. Moon did an awesome job putting all those definitions together, but maybe now we can expand, perfect and get a little creative with them now that we have been using them for awhile...? or not. ;)

    When you're bored...

...take a submission that contains broken characters, and fix them. I do it occassionaly with my subs or subs that I like, but there is still SO MUCH out there!

I will vow to fix one screwy character submission per week.

In addition to those lovely duties (having written way, way too many of the definitions and helps already), might I suggest my favorite pile of things.

    1) Unlinked submissions. We have a number of submissions which should be in various codices, but are not. If there is a book, add it to the book codex/ scroll. If it is spell book, to Librium d'Arcanum.  I do this when I am commenting on every submission.

    2) Miscoded submissions: Many people just click radio buttons and hope for the bests.  Read the definititions. Then, as you read submissions check out their coding. If they are wrong or less than correct, click the edit submissions and click the right ones. You are the admin, you can fix submissions in terms of mechanical errors (like spelling and odd characters). You can fix this too.

The codes are there so people can find things.  If people can not find what they are looking for, then the submission is of little use. So a great City submissions will never be seen by people looking for a city, when it is listed as a region.

2b) Freetext: Free text entries should be large sweeping categories that could link things together generally. Specific text or really odd words do nothing useful. The free text should be a useful link. Free text should compliment rather than replace a coded listing.  So Blue Potions and Zylobrians are pointless, while Pirates or Mercenaries or Demons are good ones.  The only exception to that is settings or specific themes/ groups.  Submissions for a given setting/ grouping need to be linked that way.

2c) The wrong type of submission:  If it is a strange coding like a Lifeform when it should be an NPC or a Dungeon location when it is really a city submission, send a PM with all the information so he can eventually cahnge them.

When in doubt if a change should be made, you can always go and post a "Hey should we change this?" sort of thread here.

A different one: surf around and see what it's like in the world, especially in relevance to our site. What do they think of us, are we linked to other interesting places, etc.

You got me intrigued Manfred, and I did a google for Strolen's Citadel.

You know you've hit the bigtime when you're referenced in Wikipedia.

A reminder in honour of our new freetext options! Did a few today, don't be ashamed and choose some that are to your liking.

Schedule a Freetext-killing Weekend sometime soon.

We've got to clear out some of the mess, make a few Codices, and so on.

(Note: Moon promised to make actual guidelines on freetexts, so we can do it once we have them.)
