V3.0 - Worlds/Settings
#1Worlds, or Settings as Moon wants to call them which I always forget.
I got the Settings bug this morning so spent a little time looking around to see the different ways to organize a cohesive setting. I am confident that I will be able to make whatever format we want to do work, just don't know what that format is.
Options that Moon and I discussed before were staying with the current Citadel organization or allowing the Setting creator make their own organization. That was isolated to the menu organization and was really before we actually used the new system so perhaps a new perspective has come out of the mix.
I need help thinking about it.
The main core ideas I have are these:
-All submission in the Settings area will also be viewable in the main Citadel and vice-versa.
--There may be some exceptions if there is a need for explanatory type submissions to ties things together. These would not be viewable on the main Citadel.
-In this Setting area, only those submissions associated with the Setting will be viewable.
--The Setting Master will have the power to allow others to add to their setting or deny this ability.
-The Settings are is simply going to be a different front-end that will take all the associated submission for a given setting and organize them.
-The Setting areas will concentrate on giving a setting a cohesiveness and useability.
--What I mean by this is that the Citadel concentrates on sharing and interaction through comments/votes. The Setting area should concentrate on the Setting with the comments and such being somewhat secondary.
--Streamlined almost. Not worried so much about votes/clicks/comments but on the ease of viewing the setting.
-The comments in this section...I think these should concentrate on the entire Setting vs. smaller parts (which are still available on the main Citadel).
Have you seen some sites that you like the layout and organization?
Do you have specific ideas on how you would want to organize your setting?
Do you want a "path" through your world somehow? (click next and walk from first to last submission)
What kind of ways would be handy in combining submissions if needed? Sort of a Codex without all the extra separation making it more cohesive?
Should each setting have a way to stylize itself to make it unique or is stick with the default Citadel layout?
Trying to start some brainstorming. Finding myself with some time lately and if we can start planning how we want to do this again, then when I have time I can jump right into coding it. Thanks!!!
