Lost Posts?
#1Here is a copy and paste. You will have to do the same back where you got them from as it is a holy terror for me to track where they all came from in a normalized database....

Nobody:
Kethal knelt down by the Troll. She knew almost nothing of healing, but she knew a little. She cast a small spell. It was a detection spell, and would tell her something of what was going on inside him.
It wasn't good. The spear was actually inside his heart. Grumples heart was, miraculously, still beating, beating around the spear head, pushing blood out as fast as it was pushing blood through. What was worse, was that the barbed spear was firmly lodged in the heart of grumple, and pulling it might mean, would probably mean, pulling out his heart as well, swelling or no swelling.
Kethal could also feel the evil of the spear. Kethal could not be sure, but the spear was probably protected from holy magic.
"It's still pretty bad"

Hello Strolenites.
I have been scanning some old stuff and was wondering if this has a place in the citadel as a scroll. Is this something people might be interested in contributing to? I have already fleshed out the first one as Kalinkar Baccie in the citadel, how much could we add to a scroll like this? Is it needed or is it a dead end? Please share your ideas and suggestions.
-Mike

The door swung open under Aher's smart rap, the hinges groaning. The chamber within was large, and echoing with the sound of splattering rain. It had probably once been an impressive great-room, though time and neglect had made it into something more like a wet cavern- a huge portion of the ceiling had collapsed, and the roof-lintel lay sprawled diagonally in a scummy pool of rainwater and old shattered tiles. The dim lighting of the place revealed the state of sagging decay and the mildew and niter that streaked the walls.
Aher scanned the room. The sound of a slamming door approached his ears. On one side, there were two individuals standing out of the rain. Aher strained his eyes in the dark, seeing that both were red-haired; one was a small, pale woman, and the other a large man, probably one of the barbaric Far Northerners, if his crazed dress was any sign.
The two were exchanging words softly, and seemed not to notice him.
Rather than break up their conversation, the historian grasped the sleeve of his wool robe, and began to briskly wring it out upon the floor.
"Godd**ned fine hospitality, isn't this?" he snorted sarcastically at the two individuals, disliking the way in which his voice was amplified by the cavernous space.

POG:
The Grey cloaks answered to the Twisted Man, the consort of Natori. No one, even those sworn to the Grey had an idea of where he came from or his age. He was far more mysterious than the Greycloaks themselves which said much. When he appeared death dogged his footsteps. Those who served him feared him and could not bear to meet his gaze and trembled at the thought of his displeasure.
The flames from the burning tavern struggled as the pouring rain beat at them. In the struggle coals had been kicked on the floor and quickly caught. The Grey Cloaks dissapeared like the smoke of the fire, the darkness of the night swallowed them up leaving a trail of slaughter in their wake.
The Twisted man looked down upon the scene spread out before him and then like a puff of smoke he too was gone.
Scant yards away, oblivious to the presence and disappearance of the Twisted Man. Cobb and Tinnius huddled on their rooftop as the rain began to come down harder.
"Secrets." Cobb said. "Fine Tinnius, you can have your secret and I'll guard mine as well, but..." Cobb looked down at movement in the alley below. It was a familiar figure from the tavern, Haya. A couple of Ragnar's boys were lurking in the shadows looking to get the drop on him. Ragnar's guild were a bunch of filthy scavengers in Cobb's mind. They must be feeling full of themselves to step to Haya. He had no problem with evening the odds for Haya, he hated Ragnar and his men.
"The bloke about to get rolled is my cousin." He said to Tinnius. "I gotta help him."
Cobb dropped down to the alley in a controlled fall. Blades in hand...

POG:
Baldwin looked at Grumple's fallen form, concern creased his rugged features. His thoughts were with his brother as well. Rory looked to be sleeping peacefully and his leg looked better. Baldwin turned to the King and tried to make his tone respectful, although truth be told his brother was far better at the diplomacy speaking to monarchs required. But alas he felt he had to try.
"Your majesty, what do you intend to do to defeat the legion and dispell them from your city?" He turned slightly away, with a grimace. That hadn't come out at all as he intended. It wasn't the man's fault. He ran his hand thru his hair. "What do you know of Belzar and how can we defeat him?" That too came out as if he were asking a second to give him a report. Baldwin was beginning to think he should've kept his mouth shut. What would Rory say?
"How can we help?" This from Rory who, awake, looked up at the group with owlish eyes, looking extremely fatigued. He rubbed at his leg which showed no signs of the luminesece and displayed pink skin that was very much intact. He threw Holly a wink. "Who's got food?"...

CP: there's still quite a few lesser demons here, that probably won't make it into full submissions. How about making a scroll for them?

Order of the Mace
When murdering was once thought illegal, legalize fighting to reduce murders.
Name of the Guild: Order of the Mace
Headquarters: Kingdom of Rhomas
Members: Approximately 3,536. This does not include those who have retired but still hold prestige in the guild.
Found Date:
History: Originally founded by a group of slavers, the order of the mace was nothing more than a group of rich merchants who bought slaves to fight in a tent outside of certain cities. When the death toll rose to exceptional levels and certain, known people, were kidnapped and used in these ‘clothpits’, authorities acted and banned the fights within their borders. They were forced to travel outside of their home kingdoms and setup fights out the outskirts of the Etoilin Desert were few authorities had power.
The clothpits were the original arena for these fighters. They were large tents, able to hold approximately a hundred people within their folds. A ring was marked out in the center with armed sentry and archers at the ready should one of the slaves attempt to escape. Everyone knew that on entry into the clothpit your life was forfeit should you become a captive of one of the slaves. Weapons were forbidden within the clothpits unless you were a sentry. The slaves were always given blunt weapons so damage done to an armored opponent would be minimal.
The fights were originally until one could not fight anymore, they were rarely meant to the death but those who were unskilled often fell quickly and would be seriously hurt. They were told that should they win they would be allowed to walk free and return home. A few were given a certain number of fights they had to win before they could be set free. This was a common practice as the owners of the fighters didn’t want their new slave to win their first bout and be let go, so they would tell them they had to win five fights in a row in order to be set free. Most would only last for three if they were lucky.
The more the fights were banned and frowned upon by the ruling castes the more the fights were sought after by the populace and those rich enough to hire the group for special bouts in the privacy of their own estates. The group began to prosper with these private showings, getting fighters from different merchants and nobles to fight for prestige was common to see who had the better fighter.
When the death toll began to rise even higher and the fights began to become bloodier and bloodier, the group sat back and rethought their purpose. They were loosing money as the owners of the fighters would refuse certain fights if they knew their opponent’s fighter was known for being exceptionally brutal. This led them to an idea. They approached every kingdom they could that would listen. Remove the ban on their fighting pits and they would agree to set up rules that would minimize the death toll.
Most refused to listen to their idea but the Kingdom of Rhomas was intrigued. They agreed to a certain number of royalties per fight, as well as allowing the group to use their jail house as recruitment for fighters. The deal was simple, depending on the severity of the crime they could agree to fight for a certain number of bouts, regardless of winning or losing, and be set free. A lot of the criminals who agreed to this who were repeat offenders ended up signing on as permanent fighters for the group to stay out of trouble. The idea of permanent fighters who were paid to fight changed the way the clothpits were run.
The Order of the Mace was then born from the work of criminals wanting to stay out of jail. The king of Rhomas agreed to build an arena for these fights to be seen by everyone, for a small fee. A portion of the entry fee, fighter fee, as well as any betting that went on within the arena was given to the crown. This spawned an increase in fighters vying for status, they were seen as public stars and were soon popular and sought after by women and invited to many evenings with the rich and nobility.
These gladiators would hire on with the order and agree to a certain number of fights for an amount of payment. Many would continue on and sign new agreements for continued fights. This soon became a weekly pastime and on the tenth day of rest, the arena was bathed in the sound of gladiators fighting and the crowd cheering them on.
The politics of the order soon began to bleed over into the politics of money. The order could be hired for games to be held for certain festivals or events. This brought some form of popularity to the one holding the games. While still run by the Order of the Mace, the sponsor of the games was seen as a giver to the people. This was then returned with favors and votes. If a rich merchant held the games it helped their business by the people desiring to return the favor by using them for their services. -

Saddah, the patron of games. A mysterious woman you might see around games of luck, undoubtly another fan... or an evil spirit that will take the most driven gambler with her.
It is not sure if there is only one, or there are several. Certain is, the creature moves freely in the lands of mortals. Luckily, she is rather benign, maybe not even a demon, but some sort of a malevolent spirit instead... whatever the difference is. If it is a demon, she is probably a free creature now, merely travelling the world and enjoying herself and fine life. She slowly changes her appearance, but stays humanoid at all times.
Appearance
Whatever its shape, it is always a humanoid female of exotic beauty. Frequenting casinos and various gaming locales, she does not seem to want to draw too much attention... but her noble ways, the fine clothes, jewelry and faithful servants betray she is one of the higher classes of society.
Behaviour
Wealthy and mysterious, enjoying the sight of people playing games, she sure does attract the attention of lowest gamblers and nobles alike, and many invite her for a game or two. She refuses most of the offers, saying she only plays for the fun and in friendship. But if it is a friendly game, without money or with low bets only, she will play, and she will win MOST of the games, sometimes with a luck that is hard to believe. She does not win all games, but wins enough to make any gamer jealous, and accepts all losses like a true lady. She doesn't cheat, and cheaters are often 'accidentaly' revealed when she plays.
Evading most private questions with indirect answers, most end up considering her a wife of some wealthy merchant or noble, staying bored at home while her husband is always away for business. And so she stalks the casinos, playing the games a little, and looking at interesting games... and now and then finding a favourite. (Side note: she brings luck to those she favours.)
The Catch
If there is friendship between her and a gambler, she will play games with him, and sooner or later will a fool insist on playing with at least "imagined" money, to see how it would end up. Winning most games easily, the imagined debts rise to great heights. Soon, all the time in good humour, she would start betting the personal features of the unlucky courtier... "A thousand gold for your charming ways... two thousand for your courtship... five thousand for your hope that never ends" and so on.
Until some day, the gambler is completely indebted with those seemingly meaningless debts, belonging to her with soul and body like the other servants, becoming a slave and personal property. Then perhaps, she will move on to another city, to seek new games and new entertainment, and maybe new servants.
Roleplaying Notes
Surely, no one would care if some lowly gambler has vanished... but what if it is a well-known young noble? Or, hell, a prince even? Or perhaps someone promised to a marriage to settle an old feud? What if a player's source of information is enslaved? (thanks to Roack for this one)
They will be serving her, and working like slaves. Beacause as she has to move a lot, her wealth has to be sustained. So some will be left left as her personal servants, and some will work for her comfort until they work their hands off (maybe literally).
The most probable target are young male gamblers, but anyone can be it. And of course she wouldn't be just letting her servants leave, nor will they want to leave. Even if they were kidnapped, they BELONG to her. They would be like without a soul, unless she'd left them go, slowly wasting away if they stay without their mistress. Of course, there is an easy way to get them out... just play a game with her! -
