#1I put in some albums in the same category system as the main citadel.
Figured that makes as much sense as any. Will use that as a baseline for now so if you have something to upload, whether or not you are going to use it in a submission, I could use some fodder for my coding experiments.
hint hint nudge nudge
Any thoughts on other categories or changes or whatever are always welcome since I am doing all this on the fly so we can hopefully get this up and running. -
Re: Gallery
#2Not that I would have anything to add...
...but I can't find a way to upload anything or even add a comment. Has anyone this option? (Asked Scrasamax and Murometz, they are in the same boat.)
Aside, it looks neat. I was shocked to see a part of the interface in Slovak. :shock:
Go gallery!
---
Update: also, if I click on your name to access your user profile in the gallery, I get something to the effect that the selected user does not exist. I suspect the user databases are not properly connected or something, or the privileges are wrong... it identifies me correctly but I can't do anything.
Thanks to Michael Jotne Slayer, it is obviously possible to add images, and even comment. (Not for me sadly.)
Seems he can post into his own User Gallery, but not elsewhere. -
Re: Gallery
#3Thanks. Give it a try now. This thing has toooooooooooo many settings and I am only now getting used to the rather extensive admin panel.
Not sure about the profile. Depending on where you click it can take you to the forum or the gallery profile that shows pics. It worked for me on MJS. Will have to wait till there are more people over there before I can figure it out.
You can always add to your own personal gallery which is what MJS did. -
Re: Gallery
#4Darn. There are supposed to be two user albums with no images, but I can't see any, nor access my own. The Citadel Pictures part is supposed to have three images, but only one is visible.
MJS and/or anyone else: please upload some stuff to the gallery if you can! And give it a few more tests. -
Re: Gallery
#5OK, hidden pictures are explained (thanks again MJS): pics uploaded into Citadel Sections have to be approved by an admin first. -
Re: Gallery
#6Awaiting Rembrandt's approval... :D -
Re: Gallery
#7Approved? Bullocks. I need to fix that! -
Re: Gallery
#8When people post in categories I can't see who posted them, is that the same for everyone else?
I also wondered about the voting system, how does it work? Do posting in the gallery affect stats in the citadel?
We finally have a gallery, woho! But where are all the submissions? I thought there were many artists slithering around the citadel. -
Re: Gallery
#9It looks like you can only see who posted once you get down and actually view the picture. Votes are isolated to the Gallery and don't affect the main Citadel.
No idea about the artists. -
Re: Gallery
#10I cannot add or comment to the gallery -
Re: Gallery
#11DOH! -
Re: Gallery
#12Talked to Murometz today. I think he had lost the ability to post in the gallery too, though he had it before.
DOH :p
I want to post. Coppermine wasn't this tricky when I hosted it :p -
Re: Gallery
#13Hmmm, I haven't touched it since they started uploading either. Will go play with some settings. -
Re: Gallery
#14From all I can tell you should be able to upload. Do you have an upload link in the top left row of buttons or are you rejected after you use that button? -
Re: Gallery
#15I have nothing of the sort. Not one visible button. I tried to manually enter /upload.php at the end of the URL, but that resulted in this:
Error
You don't have permission to perform this operation.
Waaaaah! The Gallery doesn't like me! -
Re: Gallery
#16I kid you not: I have not the permissions I need to post in it.
It is the SMF - Admin hate functionality again... Like we had with the shoutbox.
*Desperate voice heard over the radio static* Sxxshhcchh...Need Help. Over! This is AG I need help! The Gallery was boobytrapped...Sxxxchhh...illing us! They are killing us! Over! *static grows too loud* -

Re: Gallery
#19Forgot who asked about posting a picture in multiple galleries. Like in one of the main galleries and then in your personal profile. Found this while trying to figure out why we can't upload.
------------
How do I show the same file in multiple albums?
The Album Keyword in Album Properties is used to link images from one album into another. Using this method, files/images can be displayed in various albums while the file itself need only exists in one album on your webserver. You simply upload a file to one album as you would normally do, then assign one or more keywords to the file. The keyword function reads blank spaces between words as a 'break' and assumes that these words are separate words. If you must use phrases for your keywords, connect them with an underscore or by using the ascii space holder ctrl+Alt+0160 (NOTE: the latter option only works with latin based character sets.) Each album can only have ONE (1) keyword or keyword phrase. All pictures residing in different albums that you would like to be displayed in this album must have the same keyword or keyword phrase in their respective keyword fields. Pictures, unlike albums, can have multiple keywords or keyword phrases separated by spaces. This provides you with the option to display pictures in many albums. For the visitor of these albums, it will appear as if the file/image had been uploaded to each.
If you use album keywords to display images/files in more than one album, enabling the Config option, Show number of linked files, will display additional information for the album stats. That is, if an album doesn't only contain "regular" files, but files linked via the "album keyword" option as well, the number of linked files will be displayed separately like this "3 files, last one added on Oct 07, 2004, 3 linked files, 6 files total". -
Re: Gallery
#20Another request. Wish I could find the fix though. Will do this later.
----------
How can I display the name of the uploader with the picture info?
Warning: this is quite a complicated hack for a newbie to perform! Make sure to back up your original files before attempting this.
Edit displayimage.php and search for:
$info[$lang_picinfo['Filename']] = htmlspecialchars($CURRENT_PIC_DATA['filename']);
add after it:
$info[$lang_picinfo['Username']] = htmlspecialchars($CURRENT_PIC_DATA['user_name']);.
Then open /include/functions.inc.php and search for following in function get_pic_data():
if($select_columns != '*') $select_columns .= ', title, caption';
and replace it with:
if($select_columns != '*') $select_columns .= ', title, caption, user_name';.
After that search for:
$result = cpg_db_query("SELECT $select_columns from {$CONFIG['TABLE_PICTURES']} WHERE aid='$album' $approved $ALBUM_SET ORDER BY $sort_order $limit");
and replace it with:
$result = cpg_db_query("SELECT $select_columns from {$CONFIG['TABLE_PICTURES']} AS p LEFT JOIN {$CONFIG['TABLE_USERS']} AS u ON u.user_id = p.owner_id WHERE p.aid='$album' $approved $ALBUM_SET ORDER BY $sort_order $limit");
Then you have to add the language string for the username. Open /lang/yourlang.php and search for:
$lang_picinfo = array(
and add after that:
'Username' => 'Username',
Also you need to execute this query in MySQL (with a tool like phpMyAdmin):
ALTER TABLE `cpg11d_pictures` ADD INDEX ( `owner_id` );
(NOTE: If your database table_prefix is not "cpg11d_", you will need to change it in the query) -
Re: Gallery
#21NOW TRY IT?!?!?!?!?! -
Re: Gallery
#22I believe both those queries were mine. And boy! I'm glad you explained that! phew...now I can go and ummm... :shock: :shock: :shock: well..not sure what I can do now, except await your further instructions (layman style) :D
but seriously, Thanks Strolen! -
Re: Gallery
#23I don't know how to use it either, just copy and pasted because I recognized the question. I remember a keyword text box though when you upload, maybe it is like freetext somehow.
Let me know if you can upload. -
Re: Gallery
#24I got the upload button and was able to go through the file upload without hassle:
Successful Uploads
1 uploads were successful.
Please click 'Continue' to add the files to albums.
Then this screen was displayed: (right click and choose "open image" to see the large version)
[img width=400 height=200]http://ancient.strolen.com/ag_images/Coppermine1.gif
Then after I clicked "continue" this screen appeared:
[img width=400 height=200]http://ancient.strolen.com/ag_images/Coppermine2.gif
Booohooo!
Assign us the necessary privileges to upload files man! On MS we are inetusr or somesuch and I do not remember the linux internet user. Help. Mesa wantsa postsa! -
Re: Gallery
#25Changed another setting. Thanks for your patience. Once we get it working we are done though, that is a good thing to look forward to. :) -
Re: Gallery
#26Deleted, reuploaded.
Can somebody give it a try and let me know.
Frick'in gallery. :) -
Re: Gallery
#27OK, made a fake user (Chappy - after my dog) and successfully uploaded a couple Lifeforms.
I am going to say this is working unless I am told otherwise. -
Re: Gallery
#28Finally think I got to the root of the problem. smf has a very complex permissions system with primary and secondary permissions. Long story short, I had to change a bunch and the experiments seemed to have worked.
So go and upload some pictures and let me know!
Remember, you can now use pictures uploaded in the gallery in the main citadel!!

Re: Gallery
#29Got note from Murometz that something may be wrong with the gallery. Tried to upload a picture myself, the upload was said to be successful. Then, after I clicked Continue to add files to the album, I've got a:
Critical error
PHP running on your server does not support the GD image library, check with your webhost if ImageMagick is installed
Still not quite working. :) -
Re: Gallery
#30Damn, I loaded that library. Might have to update some settings in php.ini.
